 | | chessgames.com: The Group B playoffs are online (US Championship (Group B Playoff) (2011)) but we haven't made a separate kibitzing thread for them. We'll at least put an extra link on the homepage for convenience. |
|
| Apr-28-11 | | shivasuri4: Could you please tell me how I can turn off the "last seen" feature on my profile page? Could you also delete the remaining two posts by <shach matov>?They are quite offensive in nature. |

 | | chessgames.com: <shivasuri4: Could you please tell me how I can turn off the "last seen" feature on my profile page?> Stonehenge is right: that is tied together with the "recent visitor" list. <Could you also delete...> Please use the Whistle function, thanks. |

 | | Stonehenge: Never seen this before:

 | | Stonehenge: Duitsland is Dutch for Germany btw. And mvr is Mrs. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Looks like another instance of the well-known Kosintseva bug. Basically the search finds the game twice, once for each player (whether Michaelsen or Kosintseva or Polgar or Lasker or whatever). |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | hoodrobin: Please does someone know what my avatar is? |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | Open Defence: It seems to be a piece used in the Japanese game of Shogi, perhaps I may be wrong though |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | hoodrobin: <OD> Thanks! Now I know it's a piece of Chinese chess (Xiangqi): the <soldier> (pawn). |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>,<Open Defence> points out that Anand's biography says that he stays in India. While this is true this year, due to the birth of his son,it is not so on a general basis.Could the fact that he lives in Spain and shuttles between India and Spain be incorporated for factual accuracy? |

 | | Annie K.: ...which reminds me about having suggested creating a specific forum for the biography admins before, <cg.com>. ;) And any progress on the audio idea? :) |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | shivasuri4: It seems that Anand has relocated to India for the first time in his playing career(can't confirm presently). If that's true, there's no need to change the biography.<Annie K>,the separate forum for biography admins is a great idea.I hope it gets implemented. Sorry for inconvenience caused,if any. |
|
| Apr-30-11 | | shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>,is it possible to edit a post within a few minutes of it being posted? That would help fix grammatical errors(like a comma instead of a full stop) which were missed during the preview. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <shivasuri4> Editing isn't possible - and never will be, for a very good reason. See here... chessgames.com chessforum |

| May-01-11 | | Turnip: <SwitchingQuylthulg> How do you post a link to the precise post that you wish to refer to (like your last link to the Chessgames.com post from May 2007) please? |

 | | OhioChessFan: Turnip, copy/paste the url up in your browser window. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Turnip> Find the post you want through Search Kibitzing (the links in users' profiles, just below the bit where it says "Turnip has kibitzed 92 times to chessgames" or whatever, also work), then right-click on the link to get to copy the URL. Never actually follow a link - that will transform the URL from one that works for everybody to one that only works for people with ignore lists identical to yours. If you're unsure which kind of URL you have, a good rule of thumb is to never give a link with a page number in it. |

| May-01-11 | | Turnip: <OCF> and <SQ> Thanks. I'll test that here.

 | | chessgames.com: <Turnip> The situation is that this feature ("permalinks" in blogging terms) is not supported at this time. However the technology is actually in place, we just don't provide the link in a handy way, so as others have explained it is possible to do it with copy, paste, and enough savvy. |

 | | chessgames.com: <shivasuri4> Just copy your post, delete it, then repost it with edits. We generously allow you to delete a post for up to an hour after you make it. |
|
| May-01-11 | | shivasuri4: Thank you,<SwitchingQulythulg>.How on earth did you remember where the post by CG was?Else it must have taken a great deal of searching. Also, don't the same concerns apply to deleted posts?I suppose they aren't as significant. |
|
| May-01-11 | | shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>,thank you for that idea.I hadn't thought of that. |

May-01-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <shivasuri4> I used my mighty premium tools to search for a post by our admins containing the word "Sally", and that was the only result :) A couple of users have indeed abused the delete button by posting insulting messages, waiting for angry replies to appear, and then deleting their posts before any admins turn up. I won't name any names - those users know who they are, and so do the admins if they're at all competent. |
