| May-01-11 | | shivasuri4: Are you,by any chance, referring to my posts and subsequent deletions on the Kasparov page a few days back?I just found it pointless to continue arguing with <shach matov> and instead decided to report him. |

 | | Annie K.: <cg.com: <Just copy your post, delete it, then repost it with edits.>> That's not the best order IMO. :)
I'd recommend reposting first, and deleting the original post second - after you see that the repost didn't create any problems. Problems such as somebody else replying meanwhile, which would "falsify" the posting order... I've often made reposts to correct typos, but several times I found that somebody already replied to me. In such cases, I delete my *second* post. I'd rather let the typos of the original post stand than confuse the post order. Also when links get accidentally truncated because one copy-pastes the truncated version and forgets to separately copy the URL - of course these links won't work, and one has to go through the whole process of locating their subjects again. Much easier to repost a third time, based on a still existing original post, and just remember to copy the full link this time. ;) |

| May-01-11 | | Jim Bartle: "A couple of users have indeed abused the delete button by posting insulting messages, waiting for angry replies to appear, and then deleting their posts before any admins turn up." I've learned the key to avoiding that is always to quote the post you're replying to at the beginning of your post, at least a bit of it. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Pyke: Dear <Chessgames.com>, is there going to be any live coverage of the Candidates?> Yes. It's a shame Carlsen won't be playing, but these will still be very exciting games. |
|
| May-03-11 | | Pyke: Indeed and thank you <Chessgames>. Can't wait 'till it starts. |

| May-04-11 | | I play the Fred: Help: for some reason, when I tried the playing zone just now, all the dark squares were black and I could hardly see any of black's pieces on those squares. Why? |

 | | chessgames.com: <I play the Fred: Help: for some reason, when I tried the playing zone just now, all the dark squares were black and I could hardly see any of black's pieces on those squares.> Unless you happened to choose the "Black & White" color selection from your Chessgames Preferences Page I don't have an answer. What happens if you just close your browser and try again--does it work again? If that's the case, it's probably a Silverlight glitch. |

 | | chessgames.com: <chancho: <chessgames.com> How long does it take to see uploaded games in the database?> In the worst case it could take over 2 months, but most of the time 1-3 weeks. |

| May-05-11 | | bartonlaos: <CG> About that "triple ban"? Lennonfan has discovered a weakness. The users that he's created, <Bobbyeff, GNflash, GrandmasterFlash, Failedauthor, Prisoner1234, etc.> are continuing to kibitz. He's able to add entertaining messages in their game collections, and link it to another user's latest post. For example:

 | | Domdaniel: Can these offensive so-called game collections please be deleted? And the puerile cretin responsible for them permanently banned? |
|
| May-05-11 | | TheFocus: <Domdaniel><Can these offensive so-called game collections please be deleted? And the puerile cretin responsible for them permanently banned?> Admins, I ask the same thing. <Lennonfan> has set up several User Names and putting very insulting things about some Premium Members here. |

 | | chessgames.com: We are aware of the Game Collection situation and are working to correct it. As of now, there is no way to put somebody on "game collection muzzle" but it seems we're being forced to implement one. No problem: this is something that we were inevitably going to need anyhow, and it shouldn't take too long to create it. Until then, just don't visit his page if you find it offensive. |

Nina Myers' Game Collections User <Wesley So> just happens to be a young Grandmaster. I know <nina> perches on sarcasm here, targeting Wesley's fans, but it's an unwieldy cut IMO. |
