May-09-11  Colonel Mortimer: I believe the status quo is fine. Most of the noise comes from self-righteous complainants. Apart from people like <Lennonfan> I don't see there being a requirement for additional censorship as much of this community is 'self-censoring'.
May-09-11  bartonlaos: <dakgootje> What I described is just an example of a voting system that is commonly employed in other forum-driven websites. If a new system of moderation has to be created by <CG>, then it would be a unique one, and hopefully one that elevates the role of community over the power of a few moderators.
May-09-11  achieve: <technical draw: I will be fair and impartial und you vill like it.> heh

Agree with the Colonel. Just make sure to be relatively quickly on the tail of major offenders, certain player pages being affected, targeted. The real unhealthy stuff. There is, however, a fluctuating level of tolerance and alertness over the years that I am around (since 2005), imo not always within standard deviation. So, keep up the good work and this will, as per 'Der Mortimer' orders, turn out just fine.

Annie K.: Welcome to the new <cg.com> staff member! :)

Question: you guys seemed to like the idea of creating a specific forum to contact the biography admins/editors. Is the new <CG Librarian> account meant to be the address for those issues as well, or is that going to be implemented separately some day? ;)

On the subject of recruiting moderators from the membership, that is - or should be - an extremely difficult decision. Such things can easily go very, very, wrong, and cause a great deal more damage to a community than any problem they were meant to address.

Domdaniel: Without mentioning any names, the only people I'd be happy to see given roles as moderators are the very ones who don't seem to think much of the idea.

  Phony Benoni: <Annie K>: From <CG Librarian>'s introduction:

<I'll be using this forum to ask for help when something needs more research. You can use this forum for the same purpose, to get others' input on possible errors or duplicates.>

Annie K.: <Phony> I saw that, thanks. However, it most likely refers to dubious game scores, or at least that is the general impression that profile text gives, since it's strongly focused on "correction slips", which refer to games. Biography information is a somewhat different matter, and is also directed at different people - so if that forum is actually meant to serve as the address for both, that point needs a little clarifying. :)

BTW, I would also suggest including a link to this profile/forum in the list of links up here, in <cg.com>'s own profile, for easier access and better awareness.

May-10-11  LIFE Master AJ: Again - I will repeat my request ...

Please clean up ALL of my player pages.

If you lack the time to do it, simply give me the ability, and I will happily sanitize them for you.

I don't think there is another person on this site where people have virtually defecated all over the pages ... almost every single one of them.

I also think that it would be a good idea - given the trolls' utter lack of regard for adhering to ANY of the posting guidelines - that anyone on my ignore list should not be allowed to post comments on my games.

May-10-11  LIFE Master AJ: I am determined to fix the current sad state of affairs.
May-10-11  rogge: <LIFE Master AJ: I am determined to fix the current sad state of affairs.>

Fix your behaviour, and <cg>, remove those ridiculous games => Problems fixed.

May-10-11  Hesam7: <CG.com> could please organize World Championship Candidates (2011) in a manner that one can find the games more easily?

Right now if one wants to find Aronian - Grischuk 3rd rapid game they might have to click on several other games first before reaching the game one is looking for.

May-10-11  Colonel Mortimer: <rogge:> <Fix your behaviour, and <cg>, remove those ridiculous games => Problems fixed.>

Agree about the behaviour. Not sure removing his games will fix the problem though. Many years ago he caused a similar rumpus on Mig's website spouting incorrect analysis on a Kasparov game and letting rip at those that questioned it.

Yes, yes, hear, hear!! I hence, nominate <technical draw>, he will work for 20 pesos!!

May-10-11  rogge: <Agree about the behaviour. Not sure removing his games will fix the problem though>

Well, it will fix the problems located at his game pages, at least :)

I mean, most of those games have *no public interest*. At all.
Apart from self-promotion and ego-boosting, of course.

Oh, wow, this is beginning to bother me, (and y'all know how 'cool' and 'relaxed' Bugs is, unless Fudd points a shot-gun at him)...

I think someone, maybe more than one, back in the late 1930s said something very similiar to this...

This is very bothersome. No empowerment!!

This is good news.Thank you!

And perhaps we could fix a childrens playroom for you. They run one, with great succes on playchess.

May-10-11  TheFocus: I find it sad that <AJ> does not realize that HE is one of the biggest problems on this site.

He accuses others of insulting him and his games, and yet, he insults others as if he is some type of tin-horn god.

<AJ> You are a hypocrite. So above all the "mess" you helped to cause by your insulting and agitating remarks.

Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone!

That means you <AJ>.

Look in the mirror and see a guilty troll.

May-11-11  myschkin: . . .

Dear admins,
over the years I made several posts that I am not proud of (under the influence of legal drugs, due to my childlike mind or whatver causes there are) ... paltry excuses I know.

Is there a way for anonymous "self-indictment" possible to remove some of this haunting sins of mine, if that would not misrelate the big context? Being deeply embarrassed I obstain from severe examples here :)

Yours a guilty thing surprised

May-11-11  rogge: <posts that I am not proud of> Who hasn't.

Never mind, you are forgiven ;)

But you can bet people will search for those posts now :)

perfidious: <myschkin> The rest of your life counts as nothing against this horrible offence you've admitted.

A thrashing shall be yours. Come down this way sometime. LOL

The lack of insight displayed by the <Site Narcissist> is almost surprising, as to all the scorn he has drawn upon himself. Then again, when he sees himself in that pool, the vision is one of greatness.

chessgames.com: <shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>, the database statistics page says that the no. of registered users seen in the last 90 days is 16067(at the time of posting this).>

Right, that means it goes through all user accounts and looks for the ones who were here in the last 90 days. When you count all members you include somebody who made an account in 2002 and hasn't been back since, but by counting only those seen in the last 90 days we get a feel for the actual number of active members.

<Does this include those of us who have the last seen date removed from our profiles?> Yes. Since the data is only viewed in aggregate, we don't see any privacy concern there.

<Also, how often is the page updated?> Every day in the wee hours of the morning.
