| Aug-03-11 | | dakgootje: <That might bring in a lot of traffic from google hits.> heh indeed. The adult section of a junior version sounds as odd as a children's version of an adult movie. Then again, the story-depth of both have for years been competing for the title 'thinnest thing in the universe'. Beating even Keira Knightly in the process. |

It's worth paying your USCF dues just to get that one issue. We cant thank hms123 enough (plus the countless other people who helped). |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hello admins!
Any chance you might have time to move this out of the upload log jam? <Bucharest 1954
Compiled by suenteus po 147
[Under Construction; submitted 43 missing games to database via the PGN Upload Utility on 2011.06.28.]> Game Collection: Bucharest 1954 Two reasons for my interest- <Annie> gifted Peter with a Premium renewal, so he promised her a games collection of her choice. So <Annie> let me pick, because we were working on a <Rashid Nezhmetdinov> video documentary. We're constructing the documentary right at this moment, so it would be super great to have Peter's collection finished? Thanks if you can help us-

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Aha I didn't see that last post- thank you for suggestion <admins> I'd love to pay for a USCF membership. I tried to buy one from the website the day Howard's article came out. Problem is I live in Korea and I use my Mom's credit card which does not work on many pay sites, including the USCF site, unfortunately. Fortunately, it works on this site here though.
Thank GHOD for that.
<Daniel> thanks also to you for facilitating the article and helping it become a reality. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Gentlemen sorry to bother you so soon but for exactly the same reason: These in the pipeline for half a year now?
Part of <Suenteus Po> and <Phony Benoni's> project to collect every single USSR Championship. I need this collection to be completed in order to complete my documentary on <Nezhmetdinov>, please help us out? <USSR Championship 1954
Compiled by suenteus po 147
[Under Construction; 52 games submitted to the database via the PGN Upload Utility on 2/19/10. UPDATE: Three games resubmitted (due to error) on 3/11/10.> Game Collection: USSR Championship 1954 Thank you very much,

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Actually I was a little surprised to notice these two collections uncompleted despite the games having been submitted some time ago. Given that you are planning to make official pages for <Historical Tournaments>, and I'm assuming you'll want to use the work of the people who found and submitted all of these games, I should have thought you'd give priority preference in uploading their submissions? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Aha I've just been looking through Peter's <USSR Championship 1954> and I'm wondering if maybe it *is* complete- possibly he has just forgotten to update the description. Game Collection: USSR Championship 1954 However, Peter's <Bucharest 1954> games are still yet to be uploaded to this collection: Game Collection: USSR Championship 1954 |
|
| Aug-04-11 | | suenteus po 147: <jessicafischerqueen> There was a long discussion/debate about the '54 USSR Championship on my chessforum (now inaccessible) in which three games were discovered to be 'suspect,' that is, they were all duplicates, either of each other or other games already played in the championship and confirmed as legitimate. Sadly, both print and online sources have only duplicated PGN for these three games, so we must consider them lost to history unless new information (and game scores) emerge to the contrary. I haven't updated the description of the championship because I just haven't had the energy (or the time, really) to do a proper job. The lag time in new game uploads has also stalled my completion of newer game collections, such as Game Collection: Bucharest 1954 as you've cited. But I appreciate the fact that you're still following the progress of my collections! I hope to be working on more game submissions in the next few days so that when the logjam of uploads is cleared I'll have lots more collections to share with everyone. |

 | | chessgames.com: <jessicafischerqueen: ... I'd love to pay for a USCF membership. ...
Problem is I live in Korea> That's funny, you would probably be the one and only member who lives in Korea. Most US chess players don't bother renewing until they have a specific reason, e.g. a tournament. I believe that www.uschess.org sells back issues of Chess Life, perhaps it's best to explore that option. About the <logjam of uploads> I'm sorry to learn that some important things have been waiting for so long. By "Peter" you mean <suenteus po> of course, right? We just took care of all his pending uploads; they were so clean that we hardly had to touch a thing (and the few things we did have to touch were bugs on our side, Angel Martin-Gonzalez being confused for Andrew Martin, sheesh). So hopefully he can move forward with that project now. We will try to address the others in short order. <Sadly, both print and online sources have only duplicated PGN for these three games, so we must consider them lost to history unless new information (and game scores) emerge to the contrary.> That is indeed sad. We aren't usually in the habit of adding "stubs" (games without moves, used just to preserve the historical record of the game and result) but for events as important as 54 USSR Championship the argument could be made. After all, if we are going to have a discussion page for that, we're going to want a coherent leaderboard. <twinlark: Speaking of Junior, any thoughts about including the World Junior amongst the current events you're monitoring?> I just realized that it had started; mea culpa. Look for it shortly. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Peter> good news eh? Sorry to drop a note here but I'm sad to see you without a forum at the moment. I can email you information on an introduction to <Bucharest 1954> since I have a few books here pertaining to that event. However, I don't have your email address any more, and I can't go in to my old hotmail account it's been closed forever now. <suenteus po> will you please email me so I can hit you back with the information? I'm on yahoo now:

right at the top of the entry. |

All right, carry on with serious business!
On a side-note, I read yesterday that officeially 'all right' is preferred over 'alright'. Who knew! Well, presumably native English speakers. Anyway, learn something every day this way :) Oy, I'm littering one of the few official forum-forums. Never mind me. I'll be over there. |
