 | | chessgames.com: <matebay: Hi Boss, Over the CG entry in wikipedia ... Time for a drastic revision to reflect the true state of current affairs. The old entry has outlived its significance and purpose.> We wholeheartedly encourage volunteers to keep the Wikipedia page current, but in light of Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest policies (policies which, by the way, we find perfectly sound if not necessary) we will not touch our Wikipedia page with a forty foot pole. If any disagreements arise in the editing of the Chessgames wiki-page we trust that Wikipedia's own policies will ultimately enable truth to prevail. |

 | | Domdaniel: In much the same way that naughty people find tricks to circumvent the Chessgames whistle-blowing system -- by spamming this page or by interfering with pun submissions, for instance -- Wikipedia is riddled with naughty teenage boys trying to insert ... yes, dirty jokes. As 'factual' or declarative lies tend to be quickly corrected, the trick is to hide them in places where they might be plausible and are trickier to verify or refute. A year or two ago, I found a rash of minor celebrities -- a broadcaster, a prizewinning poet, etc -- had acquired unusual middle names such as 'Touchbottom' and 'Blowin'. These lies immediately spread to other sites, and still infect countless student essays. Meanwhile, people were slow to fix the falsehoods, as, well, maybe, yanno, folk in Scotland really *do* have those kinda names... Trusting Wikipedia for information is just dim, though it's fine to use it as a starting point. Posting chunks of it *here* is criminally inane. |

He says we need to submit the revised entry proposal in his chess forum first for his approval. He goes on and on with his megalomaniac tirade...his thirst for power is unquenchable. Telling everyone what to do....even if it is perfectly clear from your posts that Wikipedia policies shall govern in this case. <tpstar: As before, all suggestions for improving and updating the Wikipedia entry should be posted on my chessforum. Constructive criticism must be appropriate and tasteful, with no random swipes at the group's writing skills or any individual kibitzer. Then I will review it at the end before it gets posted.> |

 | | Domdaniel: <matebay> I believe this is called a 'heads up', although whether yours could get any further up your own fundament must remain a mystery. Do you have *any* idea who are the people who actually write articles about chess, in Wikipedia or elsewhere? <voratco> -- <So in summary, the number of cg.com members are dim? Saying it here is criminally insane.> Most aren't, a few are unbelievably so. I hadn't actually commented on this, but thanks for clearing up the matter of your own status. Adding an 's' to somebody else's words is a fine way to take a hit. |

if <tpstar> is heads up to you, then you are a poor judge of character. Seems dictatorial and looney to me. He spews rage and destruction in the Wesley So page. I say <twinlark> is heads up instead. Democratic and refined. I vote him as most helpful and informed kibitzer. He spreads peace and harmony in the Wesley So page. |
|
| Jan-05-12 | | Benzol: <matebay> You are correct that <twinlark> tried to quell the troubled waters on the Wesley So page. However, his efforts were largely in vain because of the ignorance of certain posters. As you've only been a member since October last year you can be forgiven for having a superficial view on things. As <Domdaniel>, <twinlark> and <tpstar> have all been around this site a lot longer than you don't you think you just might be able to learn something from these more seasoned posters. You seem to want to go running around and go banging into walls. My advice is to slow down a bit and not rush into blindly playing hopscotch in a minefield. I hope this will help you. |

 | | kingscrusher: Dear Chessgames.com
I hope my previously suggestion won't be obscured by recent posts after it (oh dear!)- I think the collections facility is really powerful and use it quite a lot - for example for making a list of PGNs to cover in my weekly Chessbase broadcast. But the idea of seeing those games added to the most collections between two dates, I think would highlight the really interesting games played in a particular time period. Maybe even it could be used to do a quick summary of the game highlights of last year from a Game collection perspective - the most collected games on each month last year - to create a Year summary from last year. Cheers,
K |

| Jan-06-12 | | matebay: Hey Boss..
Checking on my christmas wish...its so petty and benign I am at a loss why you would not grant it. I even posted it on the Santa page for divine intervention. <Dear Santa,
Belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
Although a bit late, I hope you grant my xmas wish.
My xmas wish is CG to change Wesley So's picture in the Wesley So page from http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5w1dzhZ0h... to http://philboxing.com/news/pix/wesl... He will be studying in Texas soon and will be a campus heartthrob.> And this is my third follow up. Is that a way to treat a loyal servant? |

| Jan-06-12 | | matebay: If you want numbers (i.e. a show of force), kindly tell so we could present you with a signature campaign. How many signatures must it take...We could solve any copyright issues if that is your concern. |

 | | Annie K.: <cg> the Wesley So page *could* use a picture update, actually. I would suggest contacting GM So, and asking him for a picture of his own choice. :) |
|
| Jan-06-12 | | matebay: Thanks <annie k.> Your worthy of a most helpful nomination. While my boss here needs a push and shove from <twinlark> to move a muscle...I nominate CG administrator as most timid kibitzer. |

< The third Chessgames Team Game began on March 21st. The first two games were lively yet drawn--will the third game finally see a breakthrough? Premium members can register now and discuss strategy will fellow team mates. > The game was over months ago. It's not really a big problem, but some new users might think there is a game still happening. I couldn't find an area to sumbit it so I came here instead. Thanks. |

| Jan-07-12 | | YouRang: Hmm, I just noticed that sometimes the line that separates posts is "heavier" than usual. Has it always been that way? Or does it have some meaning. At first I thought you were making the line heavy to mark the transition from one day to the next, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Just curious. |

| Jan-07-12 | | Benzol: <chessgames> I've just finished uploading all the available games from the First World Correspondence Ch. Will it be very long before we can see these games in the database? |
