Jan-08-12  Pyke: Hi <Chessgames.com>,

I've had an idea regarding the <Chessbookie> game.

As it stands now, ending up in the top ten at the end of a normal leg will ensure you 10.000 chessbucks for the finals - no matter if you come in second or tenth. It doesn't really matter which place you get - except of course first place with the corresponding bragging rights ;-)

Instead of that, what if the players in the top ten were actually allowed to take their actual winnings into the final leg; e.g. the winner takes all of his 12.500 chessbucks, the tenth place "only" his 4000 chessbucks onto the final leg.

On the downside, I think that this could create too much of an imbalance, which would take away from the fun.

E.g. there had to be approximately an equal number of bets in all of the legs. Otherwise the winner of a leg with a lot of bets would get too much of an advantage.

Well, I hope this hasn't been proposed before and I am therefore just wasting your time.

Jan-08-12  timhortons: please dont ignore the problen at wesley so page, even though how complicated it is but something must be done with it.

if theres someone need to be held responsible why fighting is going on and blatant disrespect of forum rules is goin on, it is you mr admin.

finish off this problem, if the current forum rules and penalty is hard to implement ,then new set of rules should be made

deleting the post made by violators is not the answer but rather held the violators answerable for all there actions.

fighting at wesley so page drag on for years now.

tpstar just got benzol and wannabee as new witness that forum violations are happening at wesley so page.

how long this fighting will go on mr admin?without nobody getting held responsible for forum violation?

im involved with it and a whole lot more.

review the suggestion of wannabee and please act accordingly.

Jan-08-12  refutor: @chessgames.com

do you remember when this site was about chess? :)

peace and love

  tpstar: <timhortons> Some truce.

The Administrators have deleted several dozen of your posts from the Wesley So page over the last few months. I don't believe you are the right person to advise them on how to handle their policies when you have broken their rules so many times.

Back in 2009, you and another user proposed that anyone caught "fighting" on this site would be banned for a day, and you are trying to bring that back again. The ulterior motive is to start disagreements with folks you don't like to get them in trouble. It won't work.

They should ask <twinlark> and <ughaibu> what happened on the Wesley So page a few months ago for neutral references.

Jan-08-12  timhortons: tpstar, if those people you accused of violating rule policy will be banned for good, including me, then who you gonna fight after?

nobody anymore.

is it not right to ask daniel freeman to intervene at wesley so page?

you want to reform the forum by throwing in more garbage.

if daniel freeman could once and for all decide to implement the forum rules , ban all the violators, the rest who stay will follow the rules accordingly.

am i not asking proper response from daniel freeman regarding this problem?

benzol, wannabee and you cant reform the page, you guys are just aggravating more kibitzer to jump into the forum for more fighting.

what if you alone will be left behind and us who fight you will be banned?

let daniel freeman decide for it, at least once and for all, order in wesley so page will happen. more garbage and garbage are thrown out in the page day by day, same people fighting over and over again.

mr freeman , please dont ignore this problem.if you cant implement the current policy, revise it, order must be implemented at so page, it go way out of proportion now and it drag on for years.

tpstar instead of arguing with me, why dont you suggest something to stop fighting at wesley so page?i will agree with it if it is reasonable enough.

Jan-08-12  matebay: <deleting the post is not the answer to violators much more a repeatitive offender, deleting the account is the proper response.fighting here just not happen yesterday, it goes on for years now. please intervene mr admin.>

I propose we include in the caissars <most likable kibitzer> and <most disliked kibitzer> awards.

The winner of most likable will become the CG administrator and the winner of the most disliked will be banned from the site and casted out.

I nominate <tpstar> for most disliked and yours truly as most likable heheh.

Jan-09-12  Colonel Mortimer: <matebay:> <and yours truly as most likable heheh.>

You're not true, and you're not likeable. Neither are you funny as your self-congratulatory chuckle suggests.

Jan-09-12  matebay: I may not be funny to you..but I am the good...<tpstar> is the bad...and you are the ugly....http://youtu.be/13EUXqIwDkQ
Jan-09-12  Colonel Mortimer: Sure Tuco
Jan-09-12  matebay: < Sure Tuco>

I'm blondie...you're angel eyes..<tpstar> is tuco...

In a desolate ghost town during the American Civil War, bandit Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez ("The Ugly," Eli Wallach) narrowly shoots his way past three bounty hunters to freedom, killing two but only badly wounding the third. Miles away, Angel Eyes ("The Bad," Lee Van Cleef) interrogates a former soldier called Stevens (Antonio Casas) about a missing man named Jackson who has taken on the name "Bill Carson" (Antonio Casale) and a cache of stolen Confederate gold. He brutally guns down Stevens and his eldest son after the interrogation, but not before Stevens pays Angel Eyes to kill Angel Eyes' employer, another former soldier named Baker. Angel Eyes later collects his fee for Stevens' killing from Baker, and then shoots and kills him too. Meanwhile, during Tuco's flight across the desert he runs into a group of bounty hunters who prepare to capture him when they are approached by Blondie ("The Good," Clint Eastwood),

the movie clip has it all mixed up...and they referred to you as ugly...ROFLMAO

Jan-09-12  matebay: Hi Boss,

Over the <Wannabe> page, the wabbit has put me in ignore. I could not enter the precinct and cast my votes. The hare has taken away from me my constitution right of suffrage. How could I cast my vote and ensure the victory of LMAJ who I nominated in all categories. As it is, he has only one vote to show as of this writing and that's for best avatar...not his best bet...for he has not yet gone to the barber.

Jan-09-12  timhortons: ok mr admin, ceasefire is as the moment existing in so page, im not into it nor join the fray after this.

goodluck, i know its hard to be an admin.

i still got naka page:)

Jan-09-12  YouRang: <YouRang: Hmm, I just noticed that sometimes the line that separates posts is "heavier" than usual. Has it always been that way? Or does it have some meaning. At first I thought you were making the line heavy to mark the transition from one day to the next, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Just curious.>

Well, I guess you can ignore this. Now that I'm at work (where I have a newer browser), I don't see the heavy line anymore. It must be some browser issue.

Jan-09-12  dakgootje: Innaresting - as I have the heavy lignment as well.

keypusher: cg.com -- did you change your page formatting or something? On my pc, on game pages, lines between some of the posts have disappeared, and part of the right-hand column of the game score is cut off. (On my Mac, everything seems fine.) As far as I know, I haven't changed anything, so I wondered if you had.
Jan-10-12  Benzol: <keypusher> <... part of the right-hand column of the game score is cut off.>

Scott, I've had similar problems but only on certain pages which I thought was a bit weird. I've asked <chessgames> a number of questions too over a number of days/weeks but haven't had any acknowledgement or reply to any query. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just talking to myself.

WannaBe: <keypusher>, <Benzol> can you list the details of the browser(s) you are using?

You can find it Help->About. E.g. Internet Explorer version 8.000.12345 or FireFox version 9.00.1 or Chrome version ...

And possibly, which page, exactly is causing the problem?

Jan-10-12  Blunderdome: With nothing else going on, it's probably not too early to open a forum for Tata.

keypusher: <wannabe> Thanks. It's internet explorer 8. Seems to be every game page. This one, for example: Capablanca vs Janowski, 1914
Jan-10-12  crawfb5: Things still seem fine with FireFox 9.0.1
Jan-10-12  Benzol: Finally the uploads have appeared. Thankyou <chessgames>.

chessgames.com: <keypusher> From time to time we've always had had reports of the behavior <part of the right-hand column of the game score is cut off>. In some cases we found that Firefox's "zoom" feature doesn't work very well with Java programs, and turning off "zoom" would make the problem go away. I believe you can change the size of the default font to roughly approximate what "zoom" does.

<lines between some of the posts have disappeared> I have also seen that related to the "zoom" issue.

About the "heavy line" between posts, that shouldn't normally happen but we use a very old school HTML trick, the famous 1x1 transparent spacer graphic, so possibly things could go wrong. If hypothetically that graphic was broken, then all sorts of weird effects could happen. Are you sure you can't solve the problem just by clearing your cache?

Jan-11-12  frogbert: <it's probably not too early to open a forum for Tata.>

agreed!

I was wondering the same thing. Here's a link to the official site's home page: http://www.tatasteelchess.com/ (bi-lingual; some text only in Dutch).

Jan-11-12  dakgootje: <CG> News!

In my newspaper there is a language-column every day. Today it was about cheating in Wordfeud. Anyway, I have translated the last couple of lines for you - just read it ;)

<Wordfeud is clearly not yet advanced enough to expose cheaters. Perhaps they should have a look at their colleges at chessgames.com. That program offers chess-players the opportunity to play internet-games against players from all over the world. Regularly a user is kicked out with the message 'User X has used computer-software'>

And, yes, I have checked it 4 times [make that 5]. It really says chessgames.com ;)
