Stonehenge: < If you can tell me the exact place on the page where the animated ads appear, I have a hunch we can take care of it>

Right next to the Special Features. Beginning next to 'See random game' then downwards to below the PGN upload utility.

Mar-15-12  kellmano: I'd vote for a Benoni or the Goring gambit, though it might be better to include 4...... dxc3 for Black and 5.Bc4 for White in the Goring gambit to avoid the 'boring' 4.....d5 :-)
Mar-15-12  AylerKupp: <<King Death: <AylerKupp> In the Taimanov, 8.Nf3 transposes to a King's Indian Four Pawns which will be pretty easy to prepare for as Black.>

Yes, sure. One of the points I was trying to make to <chessgames.com> is that the position after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c5 4.d5 exd5 5.cxd5 d6 6.e4 g7 provides many reasonable alternate continuations for Team White besides the Taimanov, should they prefer more positional lines. After all, it would be their choice. And given <chessgames.com> 6-move limit guideline for the number of pre-defined opening moves I couldn't suggest 7.f4 Bg7 8.Bb5+ as the opening position.

<chessgames.com> also wanted a "contentious" opening. As far as I'm concerned on this site the Modern Benoni itself is sufficiently "contentious" given the passion that both the White and Black-side advocates seem to have. Which, BTW, I consider to be a good thing. So starting the game from the position after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c5 would be fine with me also. All I'm trying to do at this point is to try ensure that the Modern Benoni, in any form, is on the list of openings that <chessgames.com> puts up for a vote, as well as starting to present arguments to try to convince the premium membership that this would be a good choice of opening. After all, there are a lot of great (and equally good) candidates to be considered. But the Modern Benoni has a history of "contentiousness" which I think most other good candidates lack, and that's one reason why objectively (if that's possible!) I consider it a good choice.

Of course, one game, regardless of the opening and the result, will not be the definitive answer, but it will provide bragging rights for the winners. I'm personally already looking forward to the gloating. ;-)

chessgames.com: <Right next to the Special Features.> I figured that was the one. It's called a "skyscraper" in the banner-ad biz, and frankly that was *supposed* to be one of the ad zones that premium members could turn off. There are only a couple of ads that are exempted from that preference setting, and that's not supposed to be one of them.

Anyhow, look again and I think you'll find it gone. And thank you, on behalf of many premium members!

chessgames.com: <achieve> This is most bizarre. Try this, go to the very first kibitzing page, e.g. Hans-Joachim Federer. Then tell us if the invisible-cursor bug is present. I'm thinking that maybe somebody's kibitz on the most recent page fouled things up, even though that shouldn't be possible.

WannaBe: Halloween attack, we talking about the Freddy Krueger variation, Michael Meyer variation, or the Jason Voorhees variation?
Mar-15-12  Nemesistic: <chessgames.com> Are you guys on a mission to wipe out everything i post here, because you've missed a few a coupla pages back if so.. Lol :)

And id LOVE to hear what your reasons are for this latest deletion, because if you noticed i more or less PARAPHRASED one of your latest posts to Matebay!!!

I see chess isn't the only game you guys are playing, so please, genuinely, explain to me where i went wrong and what rules were broken and i'll apologise and not post here again?

And a few months ago, "The Boss", stated that even this site isn't his own personal soapbox, so when he speaks and i say exactly the same thing, how is it my post got deleted and not yours/his??

Maybe you crazy kids should have left a few "flame wars" going instead of giving out probation, that way you wouldn't even have to delete anything from this page!

Mar-15-12  Nemesistic: In fact, without going on a Matebay style posting frenzy, please please please tell me what i said or did wrong??

I GENUINELY thought i was helping, and seeing as he hasn't posted *here* since my post!!

If this is something personal, then feel free to email me..

If this is nothing personal then lets hear your reasons for the last post deletion..

Its only 3 days ago i was apologising to you and others for past wrongs, and you still deleted that..

So please, be as and speak to me as formally as you like, none of that usual speel, and tell me whats wrong???

chessgames.com: <Nemesistic> Understand the purpose of this forum:

It's a place for real members with real problems come for help. Each post should a new question, answer somebody else's question, provide a suggestion, or in some way be helpful.

Stonehenge had animated ads dancing on his screen, even though he turned them off. Wannabe had oddly thick lines appear at random. Kingscrusher had a great suggestion about automatic move-numbering posts. Annie K has a new batch of pronunciation files for chess player names.

After all of those *real* issues, there isn't any room left over to let users post long and numerous commentaries, must less get into side-arguments with one another.

We removed your messages by the authority that we own this Chessforum, not that you broke any CG policy per se. It doesn't mean you broke a rule, it doesn't even mean that we didn't agree with what you said, it just wasn't specifically helpful to the average reader of this forum.

Your recent post which pleaded <<tell me whats wrong???> -- unlike your previous list of posts -- presented a specific question which demanded an answer. This post is our answer and I hope you can accept it peacefully; no hard feelings!

Mar-16-12  kellmano: I play the halloween a fair bit, but surely it is too unsound for long play consultation games.
Mar-16-12  whiteshark: <chessgames.com> Are you looking for a List of 'unsound' Gambits for the thematic tournament? :D

Eric Schiller might assists you. ;)

Anyway, I'd like to suggest the <Latvian (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5)> and/or the <Elephant (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5)<>> to get a final answer of their soundness.

Mar-16-12  Once: If we want a bit of historical significance we could replay the Kasparov-Short thematic match from 1993 - the Bryan gambit where Kasp got very huffy about the random choice of opening...

Short vs Kasparov, 1993

Might be interesting to see if the Bryan could be rehabilitated.

Mar-16-12  Nemesistic: <achieve> Tut tut, read the top of the page.. This forum is not to complain about other members, for that you have the whistle blowing option... So get blowing, go nuts with the whistle lol
Mar-16-12  Kingfischers: hi CG.com I have a question about this <nemesicstic> why is he allowed to write this hateful posts everywhere. I am very new to this chess forum which I like very much. If I become a full member will I still see the posts from this person. I think he is very young and only wants to make fights for fun and not interested in chess. thankyou.
Mar-16-12  Nemesistic: Kingfischer, im sorry because you're new here you've had to witness this, but there's history so thats why im posting on this page how i am... I want an answer!

But if you use the ignore function, you won't be able to see what i say..

But hey, take me off in a few days when hopefully things get back to normal and you'll see im not that bad a guy, and can actually be quite funny and helpful..

Either way, you're new so im sorry you've witnessed this..

Annie K.: <cg> I just scrolled way down on the main page, just to see that ad not being there (but it wasn't there)... ;) - and on the way I happened to notice that the last of the Example Searches sez <"Starting Out: The Siclian" by John Emms>. I sortof have a feeling there might be an 'i' missing somewhere in that search title? :)

<Blunderdome> has been practically begging for an updated photo of Hou Yifan, but I think those posts have also been buried among the various arguments.

Annie K.: <Blunderdome> it's good to see you still have your sense of humor! ;)

Btw, the Gligoric pronunciation you asked for is up, both here and at YouTube. :)

Mar-16-12  Blunderdome: Awesome, thanks. I'll be able to speak about him with confidence now ;)
