Jul-30-12  blade2012: It's a pity that there isn't a Chessgames' page on Ukrainian Champ 2012 (3 Over 2700 and several other strong players)

chessgames.com: Ukrainian Championship (2012) as well as Politiken Cup (2012) were just added. Enjoy.
Jul-31-12  Shams: I would hope the site would take some action against the most egregious spammers.

  Stonehenge: It says <LIVE BROADCAST
FREE FOR EVERYBODY>
on the homepage but I don't see any Non-Premium members. Perhaps something went wrong?

chessgames.com: There may be some confusion as the home page reads "FREE FOR EVERYBODY" and yet the software is locking people out. Truth be told, we intended to make only the rest-day game free for everybody as a kind of "teaser", then revert.

But since we made the typo we'll stand by our word: we just opened the Live Broadcast Page up for everybody.

Our apologies for any confusion, and enjoy the chess.

Stonehenge: <CG> There are still some players with two links to their FIDE player card, e.g. David Bekker Jensen.

chessgames.com: <Stonehenge> Not to worry, every player's page will be normalized soon enough. It might take a few weeks for the lower-rated players who aren't acquiring new games.

<British Championships> We have games for the British Championships (2012) but we want to sort out the data before putting the event on the homepage. Apparently a few names are not normalized, and there is some confusion between the two players attending both named Hanley.

Jul-31-12  Boomie: <CG>

In the game collection for The World, http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches..., the Chessgames Challenge games are listed with other (inferior) team games.

I suggest changing the name for the CG team from The World to CG World Team or whatever to separate our games from all those other pale imposters.

  Stonehenge: A bit of nitpicking:

QOTD:

No price is too great for the scalp of the enemy King.

--- Kobletz

Alexander Koblents can be written in several ways, but I think Kobletz isn't one of them.

chessgames.com: <Boomie> An interesting suggestion. I personally really like it but I don't want my personal biases to steer database decisions.

<Stonehenge> I'm sure you're right. Hastily copied from some list of quotes online, no doubt. I always found it to be a vapid quote anyhow.

chessgames.com: Sorry it took so long to get the British Championships (2012) online, the official site was sending crazy PGN with dates in 2013, people assigned each other's games, you name it. Fortunately the User: CG Librarian almost has it perfect now; we're just putting finishing touches on it.

chessgames.com: Oh it will be important next month. Last time they changed the format it was a "surprise update" that fouled lots of software--nice of them to give us a warning this time. Thanks for the heads-up.
Aug-03-12  twinlark: Hi <ceegee>

Just a heads up that you only have round 2 of the World Junior loaded.

Aug-04-12  Eyal: <CG> Are you going to download the games from the Biel Open ("Master") tournament? There were quite a lot of strong 2500s & 2600s there (http://www.bielchessfestival.ch/en/...).
Aug-04-12  tolengoy: Hi CG!

Just dropped by to bring you this stark observation...for your consideration...Thanks.

<BinisladNaBugaong: Maybe the question was what everyone has been wondering about: why is there a page here called The World vs. Akobian? Isn't it a fact that Akobian is also part of the world? Why not just do what the USSR did before, say Akobian vs. The Rest of the World? Or maybe style it as The World Except Akobian vs. Akobian by His Lonesome? Chessplayers are supposed to strive towards precision!>

  Diademas: Hi CG.

The activities of the fan-base of the player ranked 99th in the world (yes, the Phillipino Messiah) has spilled out of the reservoir.

First the dribble took up some 70 pages on the world blitz site, and the fan(atic)s are now trying to hijack the Carsen page. I see that some of the culprits are now aproching this very page.

Can this be adressed?
Im starting to develop negative stereotypes about a hole nation, and thats not good...

Aug-05-12  Benzol: <chessgames> Are you intending to have pages for the World Correspondence Chess Championships eventually?
