| Aug-15-12 | | brankat: <Chessgames.com> I'd say <perfidious> had come up with a great idea! Considerate, appropriate and feasible.
I hope You will give it some thought.
Thank You. |

| Aug-15-12 | | brankat: <CG.com> I just realized that You have already paid a tribute to S.Gligoric with the Player of the Day, Game of the Day and Opening of the Day features! Very thoughtful, and timely. Thank You. |

| Aug-15-12 | | Jim Bartle: It appears you deleted a vulgar post by tahdah on the Kibitzers Cafe page today. In a (vain) attempt to embarrass him I re-posted it on the Wesley So page, so you might want to delete that as well. I really wish the So-related insults and blather would stay on the Wesley So page. It's largely off the Carlsen page but has taken over the Kibitzers Cafe. |

| Aug-15-12 | | Shams: <vulgar post by tahdah> Just to be on the safe side, let's delete all posts by this user. Trust me, his output is 100% bathwater and 0% baby. |
|
| Aug-15-12 | | frogbert: <100% bathwater and 0% baby> the inverse would result in a dirty baby, wouldn't it? ;o) |

| Aug-15-12 | | tahdah: <In a (vain) attempt to embarrass him I re-posted it on the Wesley So page, so you might want to delete that as well.> CG.com, please do not delete the post. It will serve as a reminder to people that can not disagree peacefully without name calling will get the same treatment and to show that two wrongs does not make it right. |

| Aug-15-12 | | tahdah: It is sad that even here, insults continues to appear. What do we expect, these are the same guys who started name calling crying out for justice. |

| Aug-16-12 | | Eyal: <CG> To repeat my unanswered question from two weeks ago, are you going to upload the games of the Biel Open ("Master") tournament? There were quite a lot of strong players there (see http://www.bielchessfestival.ch/en/...;

| Aug-16-12 | | whiteshark: re <chessgames challenge VIII>: Our opponent, GM Akobian, will play for the US team during the Istanbul Olympiad 2012 (27th Aug to 10th Sept). Will there be a time-out during this period for the challenge or has GM Akobian announced anything how he'd handle it in this regard? Olympiad hp btw: http://istanbul2012.tsf.org.tr/ |

Aug-16-12
 | | chessgames.com: We spoke with GM Akobian yesterday, simply because the use of such an early extension raised flags, and we wanted to make sure everything was OK. As it turns out everything is just fine: he simply got to his computer about an hour past the deadline by accident. He understood well that we have to dock him one extension regardless of the reason. He also mentioned that he probably will use at least one more extension soon in light of the upcoming Istanbul Olympiad. He's a busy man for certain, but that's what the extensions are there for. I'm sure Var can juggle everything just fine. |
|
Aug-16-12
 | | OhioChessFan: I don't speak for the team, but I wouldn't lose sleep if you didn't dock him an extension. |
|
| Aug-16-12 | | hms123: I have to agree with <OCF>. |
|
Aug-16-12
 | | OhioChessFan: Of course the Olympiad. That's what they are for. But the chess equivalent of forgetting a grocery list? I think if you posed the question on the game page, you'd get near unanimous agreement. |
|
| Aug-16-12 | | Shams: Give him a mulligan, I say. |
|
| Aug-16-12 | | Blunderdome: <He also mentioned that he probably will use at least one more extension soon> I don't think you should have told us that.
<Give him a mulligan, I say.> If I were in his position I would find it humiliating to have CG bend the rules to cover up my mistake. He didn't ask for any special treatment, so let's leave it alone. |

| Aug-17-12 | | pkkandel: i would like to draw your attention regarding my post on chessgames challenge : <use of engine should be banned here.also writing 20 moves long variations should be avoided since nobody goes so far,for god's sake.we want to understand the positional nuance and to learn how to make plan.those ridiculous computer line does not help at all> |

 | | chessgames.com: <Eyal: <CG> To repeat my unanswered question from two weeks ago, are you going to upload the games of the Biel Open ("Master") tournament? > I'm sorry, I thought I did address that.
Every few months we go to TWIC and similar sources to gather notable games of high-rated players from tournaments that we didn't put on our home page. Every time we do this, it adds several thousand games to our database and fills in the holes such as the Biel Open or the Slovenian Championship. As it happens we're doing that today. And so, some of the Biel Open games are now in the database and perhaps more are coming shortly. I can get a link for you shortly. |

 | | chessgames.com: <pkkandel> Whether or not we agree with you on the subject of 20-move deep computer lines, we would never presume to tell the World Team how to work efficiently. We are the arbiters for the game so we can't try to help either side beyond the duties of the arbiters. We appreciate the fact that you did speak your mind there and we hope your team-mates take your opinions seriously. About the notion of having a "World vs GM" game in which computers are not allowed: we've considered it, but there are many problems. For starters, no serious correspondence player even regards that as being possible, as the ICCF and all other major postal-chess organizations now regard computers are part and parcel of correspondence chess. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Give him a mulligan, I say.> Sorry, we can't do that. Unless there is some kind of emergency / "act of God" that would necessitate putting the entire game on hold, the clock is ticking. |

<What I would like to see is an actual tournament page. :-o>
<chessgames> Any chance on giving us an update on how things are progressing so far?> To reword this question for the benefit of the confused: "How's the progress with the the promised feature in which game collections can be converted into normal kibitzable tournament pages?" The answer is, it's coming along swimmingly. It's Daniel Freeman's #1 priority right now. The first tournaments released for this purpose will probably be the result of Daniel's testing the interface, and then shortly thereafter you (meaning, everybody) will have access to said interface where you can nominate a game collection normalization/kibitzing. There will still be some loose ends, e.g. once we have 10,000 squeaky-clean normalized kibitzable tournaments in the database, how will one go about browsing them? We haven't gotten to that stage yet. But for starters just having the pages extant will be a huge step forward. Stay tuned for more news! |

 | | Phony Benoni: Congratulations, Daniel!
Florida State Championship (2011) Okay, I was just fooling around with looking up tid #s tonight after discovering that each unique ["Event"] tag has its own "tournament page". This is apparently the only game in the database with the event "Florida State Championship". Looks like there will be a lot of work ahead standardizing event names as well as making them distinctive. |
