  chessgames.com: <Annie> Thanks, that's a good one to have!
Sep-11-12  twinlark: Nice photo of Phiona Mutesi. It's like a picture essay.
Sep-11-12  rapidcitychess: Hey <chessgames.com>.

Random suggestion here, but what if we had a Chess Games GM Challenge with FischerRandom instead?

I think it would be really cool; It would be an excellent entry for the variant as well.

  chessgames.com: <Random suggestion> In more ways than one :-)

No seriously, it's a great idea and we want to do it. To our knowledge it would be a first in the world of chess.

I believe that GM Akobian has spoken favorably of Fischerandom (or Chess960 if you prefer), as well as Natalia Pogonina, and our old friend and adversary Arno Nickel can even be seen playing Fischerandom in the photo on his page.

Sep-12-12  Tomlinsky: <rapidcitychess> Great minds think alike! Or is it fools seldom differ? The very same thought fired and you beat me to it.

Anyway, may I second your suggestion and think that it is the way forward in this type of format for both sides to show who is 'understanding' the game better.

Sep-13-12  rapidcitychess: <Tomlinsky>

You have my permission to agree with me. :)

<chessgames.com>

I personally think it would be really cool to bring back Arno.

chessgames.com: No, that's the work of JessicaFischerQueen / hms123 just like it says at top.
Sep-14-12  Blunderdome: Hou Yifan needs a new picture.

In the past, nothing, including outright begging, has gotten your attention on this, so I'm not sure why I'm bothering ;)

chessgames.com: Well, the last time we were asked the only other photo we could find that was in the public domain was positively awful. (An awful photograph, Yifan of course was pretty as ever.)

Recently however it seems that Wikimedia Commons has been flooded by some Hou photos including one taken just a few weeks ago in Istanbul. We'll select one and replace the older one.

That's great news. :D

Annie K.: Never heard of that song! Impressed. ;)

It was a little earlier than that:

Sep-14-12  Shams: <hms123> I had no idea that was a cover, thanks. The song is so of a piece with TMBG's sound, it seemed a cinch they wrote it.
Sep-14-12  hms123: <Shams>

It helps to be old enough to have heard this in old movies the first time around.

Sep-14-12  Robed.Bishop: <hms123> I pulled my reference off the top of my head. Like <Shams>, I had no idea it was a cover.

Thanks for the information.

Sep-15-12  Karpova: <chessgames.com> I want to draw your attention to this player page Lionel Adalbert Bagration Felix Kieseritsky which has sadly been abused for discussing WWII.
