 | | chessgames.com: <Homepage> Sorry about some recent homepage inaccuracies; we've had a number of them in the past couple days, but I think we have the facts correctly presented. (I suppose we could mention that Aronian beat out Gelfand on the tiebreaks, but it's not wrong to say they shared first.) <Benzol> I looked it up in the dead-pgn bin and found the game. It's one of the rare cases where you made a mistake: the PGN read <[Result "D85"]>. I fixed that and it's online now: M R Freeman vs H Remus, 2003. <Color quirks> The only reason why I could imagine a person failing to see the highlight color would be if either their monitor had an abnormally high gamma setting (i.e. it is very very bright) or if it was a low-color machine (8 bit or even 16 bit color might show up as white). We have been assuming that in this day and age low-color monitors are basically nonexistent, hence the use of light pastel tones. There probably is a different explanation for YouRang's case but I can't think of what that would be, sorry. <YouRang> Different background colors for different groups: not a bad idea, as an admin I know I would especially appreciate it. <TheLastStraw> I assume you are making those suggestions in jest but if there is a deeper point you are trying to illustrate it went over my head. |

BTW Is the dead-pgn bin very large and do you try to sort out its contents at a later stage? |

| May-03-13 | | silly patzer: <chessgames.com> The kibitzing at those pages <The Last Straw> mentioned have to much flame war and too many arguments. It would be great if something could be done. Thanks! |

| May-03-13 | | Jim Bartle: The Rogoff page has been the politics page for almost five years now. |
| May-03-13 | | dakgootje: Insomuch that politics consists of deaf man screaming at each other. |
| May-03-13 | | YouRang: <dakgootje: Insomuch that politics consists of deaf man screaming at each other.> No, don't be silly. That's only *part* of what politics is. |
| May-03-13 | | Jim Bartle: How dare you write that!!! We are calm and rational on the Rogoff page, never lose our tempers, you sniveling ----!!!! Never a discouraging word. |
| May-03-13 | | Caissanist: <chessgames.com>: could you put up a tournament page for the 2013 US championship, please? The tournament starts in about 30 minutes (1:00 CDT), here is the homepage: http://www.uschesschamps.com/ |
| May-03-13 | | Caissanist: I'm really surprised that nobody else has requested a page for that tournament, I guess it's not what it used to be. Sad. |

| May-04-13 | | Eyal: Speaking of tournament pages, the European championship (http://en.eicc2013.pl) starts tomorrow, and Stavanger (http://norwaychess.com/en/supertour...) on Tuesday. |
May-04-13
 | | chessgames.com: Thanks <Eyal>. It's a busy chess calendar this month. <Ooh, you already raised the limit, thx! =)> FYI we raised it 50% from 200 to 300. |

 | | Annie K.: Good to know, thanks. That should do for a while. ;) |

| May-04-13 | | LIFE Master AJ: A while back ... I posted a loss of mine to Dr. Danny Kopec, (IM). I thought my friend played a very good game, it was a nice finish. Can you give ANY VALID REASON why it has not been posted??? Or is this just more of your standard, run-of-the-mill incompetence? Do you even know why? Or are you (once again) clueless? |
| May-04-13 | | LIFE Master AJ: http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain... In case you guys are wondering just what tournament I am referring to ... and since you are probably incapable of finding it yourselves ... here is the link to the tournament that I was referring to (in my previous post). |

In case you missed it:
<Apr-30-13 LIFE Master AJ: How come you idiots will reject 30+ of my wins and yet post a loss ... with an incorrect score? Apr-30-13 LIFE Master AJ: The only answer is that this site is run by a bunch of incompetent morons ...

Please get rid of this creep. |

| May-05-13 | | Benzol: <chessgames.com> <No comment on this nonsense, except that I beg that we don't turn this page into a fight about the topic or the poster.> This is probably the best way to approach this. |
| May-05-13 | | Blunderdome: I'd like to offer a dissenting opinion. You guys are looking more competent than ever :) That said, I noticed this on the home page:
"Top seeds include Hou Yifan, Muzychuk, Dzagnidze, <Lagno>, Tatiana Kosintseva, et al. Discussion forum now open." <Lahno> is the spelling you've used elsewhere. |
| May-05-13 | | AylerKupp: <chessgames.com> Recently I have seen and have been involved in general discussions about computer chess engines. Most if not all of these discussions are off-topic for the specific page where they take place, but there doesn't seem to be a good alternative. There are many pages devoted to specific chess engines (Rybka, Houdini, Stockfish, Shredder, etc. but there doesn't seem to be any for chess engine topics that do not relate to a specific engine. Would you consider creating a general chess engine page for this purpose? |

 | | chessgames.com: Oh, "Lagno" is Kateryna Lahno, of course. I was wondering who this new "Lagno" player was, rising up through the ranks in women's chess. Thanks! <AylerKupp> It's getting to the point where it's almost impossible to discuss modern chess without also discussing computers. We do offer the Computer page but that doesn't mean anybody will use it. |
| May-05-13 | | YouRang: Could we have a page for the new Norway Chess tournament? Starts Tuesday & round 1 on Wednesday.
Includes: Carlsen, Aronian, Radjabov, Karjakin, Anand, Topalov, Nakamura, Svidler, Hao, Hammer |
May-05-13
 | | chessgames.com: Yes, and we'll be covering the games live as well. Look for it on the homepage later today. |
| May-05-13 | | AylerKupp: <chessgames.com> Thanks for pointing it out. I thought that I had tried to search for "Computer" at the home page (it is, after all, rather obvious) but somehow I missed it. No, of course that there is no guarantee that anyone (except me) will use it, but I will be posting my (hopefully) general computer relevant issues there and I will be directing others to it. Who knows? Maybe someone will even read my posts. |
| May-07-13 | | LIFE Master AJ: What about the Kopec game? What was wrong with it? Or all you guys just idiots? |
