| Jun-14-13 | | Blunderdome: Hey CG,
The Hou Yifan - David Navara match ended 2-2 with 4 draws. Some interesting games, though. Everything seems to be in Czech, but I hope that you, with your massive cerebral cortex, will find the PGNs and add them to the site. Thanks :) |

| Jun-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: It has long seemed to me that the process of making posts is unnecessarily cumbersome. Why, after approving a preview of one's post, must one visit a preliminary confirmation page from which one has to click another link to get back to the forum in which one posted? Could that page not be streamlined out of the process? ∞ |

Some of us like the chance to format and edit our posts. The extra step is very helpful in that regard |

| Jun-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: <hms123: <Abdel Irada> Some of us like the chance to format and edit our posts. The extra step is very helpful in that regard> I, too, like to be able to edit my posts. The page for doing that is useful and arguably necessary. It is the page that comes up *after* one has finalized one's post (the page with the large <Click here to see your message: <forum name>> link and nothing else) that I find superfluous. Also, when you *do* return to the forum, it would seem logical to go automatically to one's last post rather than the top of the page. ∞ |

| Jun-15-13 | | hms123: <Abdel Irada>
You are correct. That page is annoying. I tend not to worry about it because I rarely click on the link to return to see my post. I usually use the <enhanced menu> links to go off to a different page. |

| Jun-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: <I tend not to worry about it because I rarely click on the link to return to see my post. I usually use the <enhanced menu> links to go off to a different page.> I'm a bit more cautious. If I post something, I never *assume* it came out the way I'd expect it to; I have to check the page and verify. Most of the time, this is probably unnecessary. But there are enough exceptions that I have not changed the practice. ∞ |

| Jun-15-13 | | TheFocus: <LIFE Master AJ>< Two free months? Means nothing to me. (You can take it back, if you so like.)> That's telling them <AJ>. Two measly months isn't long enough for you to plug those award winning web pages of yours, not to mention plugging those fantastic videos you put up. If I was you, I would protest by not posting anything until the two months are up. See you in August. We're with you buddy! |

thought about it for a while, im being serious when i say if A Goldsby
doesn't want the gift of 2 months membership, can i have it? This is a
man who's posted in his forum that this gift made him "gag", reported
your fine site to a bad business bureau, and openly tells his "students"
not to come here! |

 | | chessgames.com: <Why, after approving a preview of one's post, must one visit a preliminary confirmation page from which one has to click another link to get back to the forum in which one posted? Could that page not be streamlined out of the process?> We felt that without a confirmation page, some people would think that something had gone wrong. What could be done is make the confirmation page into one of those auto-redirect pages that says "If you are not redirected in 10 seconds click here", or something like that. |

 | | chessgames.com: <MarkFinan> I'm sorry, the two-free-month promotion is non-transferable. |
|
| Jun-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: <We felt that without a confirmation page, some people would think that something had gone wrong.> I don't think that would happen if, on clicking "POST KIBITZ" after editing, you were taken directly to your post on the forum in question. ∞ |

 | | tpstar: <chessgames.com> That was very nice of you to renew Premium memberships for sixty days, reaching out to former kibitzers. If someone spurns your generosity, for whatever reason, you should honor their request. Indeed, that's what a Good Business would do. I believe the last person to turn down a gift was <Chess Champ>. :-) |

| Jun-16-13 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>
I'm wondering if you've thought about introducing more "slightly specific" pages. By this I mean there are several pages people can go to to post off topic, you know the ones I mean, but most pages are highly specific, eg: all the player pages and tournament and match pages. But there are very few general purpose chess pages, eg: those that would discuss the world championship cycle and all the players, events and gossip that occur therein; or a page that could discuss chess governance nationally or internationally; maybe a history page as there are many chess history buffs here (although Biographers Bistro probably caters to them); maybe a page that discusses openings, another that discusses endgames. Personal forums and kibitzers cafe are all well and good, but are an ad hoc solution. The reason I asked was I because I was looking for somewhere to post info about a recently completed zonal, and couldn't really find any place particularly useful or appropriate. Got me to thinking about splitting the difference between the specialised pages and the pages that cater to off topic discussions. |

| Jun-16-13 | | Karpova: The criteria for a game collection showing up on a player page: <chessgames.com: It's a combination of three factors: the number of games in the collection, the number of games featuring that player, and the win % of that player in the collection. The notable collections is recomputed daily, early in the morning in the USA.> How many games are necessary? I think that 30 would be a good limit. The point is that I created a collection featuring 32 games of a player who has only 80 games overall in the database (and I really can't include every win in there). The 32 are of high quality in my opinion, sadly the game collection still does not show up though some time has elapsed already. |
