Perusing biographically-oriented chess books is my favorite chess activity these days, as opposed to actual study and improvement. Other time sinks are an unfortunate addiction to the Houston Cougars... and reading other members' bios.Living near Bandera -- the "Cowboy Capital of the World" -- in the Texas Hill Country. For consideration -- not my original insight: Much delusion is not being aware of our leanings -- where our thoughts and emotions take us. Surely this pollutes our politics among other things.
If you understood the gospel, you'd hope it is true.
I'm a simple Christian and also think of myself as philosophically Buddhist and politically libertarian.
I suspect Christians should focus on the core of the good news, as found in the credal verses dating from mere days after the resurrection. I eschew denominational teachings that go beyond this.
I found peace from researching evidence to support the resurrection of Christ and salvation, and feel quite confident about that. Particularly the "minimal facts" as described by Gary Habermas and based on consensus beliefs of professional scholars, including skeptics and athiests.
I believe Christianity is seriously misunderstood, including by many Christians. I believe the Bible and Christ's return was fulfilled -- as prophesied -- with the fall of Jerusalem in ~70 A.D and I don't think rituals like attending "church" (especially embracing churchianity and denominations) have anything to do with the future life.

Gary Habermas on dating the Shroud of Turin. A scholar I have found to be careful and reliable (documents facts and considers skeptics' views).
I had initially written off the shroud based on carbon-14 dating, but evidence for its authenticity is growing.

Concern about wealth disparity seems childish, irrational, and covetous to me. I'm thankful there are billionaires and soon, trillionaires. I'm concerned about the plight of those at the economic bottom but don't think Bill Gates' billions harm or deprive me of any right.
