 | | kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com
I think there might be a much easier solution for my problem of working through a game collection e.g. Game Collection: Paul Morphy -The Great Chess Genius I want to to know where I left off from last time, for doing my Morphy radio shows. What if simply each entry was numbered 1...2...3...etc Also this would provide an easy point of reference for members wanting to discuss game collections - they can point to the URL and say "Entry 16" or "Entry 30" etc. I can simply make note of which number I was up to.
Hope this is possible to just add numbering - or even just as an option to see the numbering if that is clutter to some people. Cheers, K |

 | | kingscrusher: Also you already have auto-numbering elsewhere e.g. on the excellent Tournament Index: Tournament Index
Auto-numbering might really help the discussion of Game collections. |

| Aug-31-13 | | Benzol: <chessgames> I was wondering if the Tournament Index might be more aptly renamed Tournament and Match Index? |

| Aug-31-13 | | MarkFinan: What I mean Is, I put me, MarkFinan, on my favourites so when i re-visit a page my last comment shows up in blue, and i just read from there but on the live games my comments aren’t highlighted. |

 | | OhioChessFan: Live games are set up differently. I know I want to click on the link in my profile to go to my last comment(my method to revisit my last comment on a page) but live games always take me to the last page of kibitzing. I forget the answer when I asked for that to be changed, but I'm sure it's the same principle as what you're asking for. |

 | | Annie K.: <cg> who is responsible for today's GOTD pun, plz? :) (A Kubicek vs Hort, 1972) |

 | | chessgames.com: <who is responsible for today's GOTD pun> I'm afraid I don't recall. <MarkFinan> We'll try to examine the problem tomorrow during the live game. |

 | | chessgames.com: <MarkFinan> You are not crazy: "favorites mode" has no effect when you are using the Chessgames Mobile Version of the live game page. We're unclear as to the reason for now, but thanks for pointing that out. |

 | | chessgames.com: Some news:
The next Chessgames Challenge will start in a few weeks, details to follow shortly. Also, we now have online for your viewing pleasure, the Chess Life article about the Chessgames Challenge <Brave New World: Human Intuition in Computer-assisted Chess> http://www.chessgames.com/chess_lif... |

Great news! BTW, that is my favorite article and should be required reading for all chessgames members. ;-) |

Sep-02-13
 | | OhioChessFan: I stand corrected about the live game problem. It was a World Game I asked about per a link in my profile to my last post: <OhioChessFan: Another request that when I click on the link in my forum to my last post in the World Game, I go to that post, and not the last page of kibitzing.> <chessgames.com: That would be nice. You could call it a bug, or you could call it a "feature that's 99% implemented." In either case, duly noted.> Is it possible that whatever unusual programming issue you have for the World games is the same as in Live Games? And that whatever that bug is, that's what's keeping <MarkFinan> from having his favorites function work? |

| Sep-03-13 | | twinlark: Hi ceegee
Reggio Emilia (2007) is actually the 2006 event. |
|
Sep-03-13
 | | Stonehenge: Well, the first round was on Dec. 30, 2006 and the last round was on Jan. 7, 2007. |
|
Sep-03-13
 | | chessgames.com: One day we hope to be able to display events like that in a more logical way, e.g. "2006/07" or the like. In the meantime, it's a little weird and we know it. |
|
| Sep-03-13 | | twinlark: <Stonehenge> Thanks, I overlooked that. It got me thinking so I looked up the dates of a couple of the other Reggio Emilias in the database. As you say, the Reggio Emilia International (2005) was held between 29 Dec 2005 and 6 Jan 2006 However, the Reggio Emilia (2007) was held <one> year later between 30 Dec 2006 and 7 Jan 2007 (http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_...) while the Reggio Emilia (2008) was held between 27 Dec 2008 and 4 Jan 2009 (http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_...), <two> years after the Reggio Emilia (2007). It strikes me that all these New Year's eve tournaments, including the Hastings, need to be less ambiguous in the labeling as otherwise we'll often have the "winter of 2012" situation where there is the tailend of one and the front end of the other, separated by most of the calendar year. The simple Reggio Emilio 2006-07 and Hasting 2006-07 would make it clear. |
|
| Sep-03-13 | | twinlark: Oops, crossover. I'll leave it for info as there is definitely a mistake in there with mistaken dates, not to mention a missing tournament. |

 | | Annie K.: <cg> um, you forgot to actually upload those audio files from this weekend? ;) |
|
Sep-04-13
 | | chessgames.com: So sorry Annie, look for them shortly. |
|
Sep-04-13
 | | Tabanus: <cg> You are welcome! It's better now. If I was to complain more (which I tend to), why split e.g. "1960" in two halves? But I suppose there are technical reasons. |
|
Sep-04-13
 | | chessgames.com: Every link is a page of 50 events from the Tournament index. If a year happens to be spread across two or more pages, that's just how it is. |
|
Sep-04-13
 | | Tabanus: <cg> I see, a kind of "floating" system. So every about 10th year is doomed to be split, but the system should be durable and is not at all unpractical. |
|
| Sep-05-13 | | Blunderdome: Isn't there a DRR coming up? With, like, Carlsen? |
