| Sep-10-13 | | MarkFinan: Can we seriously have a page where AJ’s posts are added so we can all go there and comment, Instead of many, many users here responding to him on the game page he originally makes the post on?? It wouldnt be too different from the Rogoff, or memorable quotes page!
I know you guys have a business to run here, and sometimes I really feel for you with all the pointless and pedantic suggestions that get posted, plus.....I know hes here to stay, i may act daft but im not thick, so as crazy as this request is, im deadly serious!
Sometimes i feel sorry for the guys who come here to talk chess, chess, more chess, and chess only..
And that Rogoff page is downright crazy at times, how dare they moan about me when some of those topics are fit for adult only sites at times? <So sometimes we get an email, "Why don't you ban user XYZ their posts offer nothing constructive to your site!" And in this case XYZ is a sincere chessgames fan, who other members actually like. Of course I won't ban XYZ, but I hate to tell a member "Tough, you have to live with them."> My ears are burning ;) |

| Sep-10-13 | | Thanh Phan: Have to agree with <MarkFinan> since the page/s he comments on becomes filled with constant arguments no matter if it's a tournament game, historical game or otherwise |

| Sep-10-13 | | MarkFinan: <Tnanh Phan: Have to agree with <MarkFinan> since the page/s he comments on becomes filled with constant arguments no matter if it's a tournament game, historical game or otherwise.> Shall we form a coalition, love? lol.
In all serious, it really would work...Or give it a one month trial, he’d be posting there too! He abuses the Ignore option by stopping people posting on his player page (Which Imo...is wrong) yet still reading and commenting on what people say anyway..
When someone makes a comment on somebody elses player page he doesnt like or agree with, he tells THEM to email (sigh!!!) the admins to remove the posts he doesnt like!
Got to admit.....Hes got spunk. |

 | | WannaBe: The home page's ad for live game still say Carlsen-Kamsky. =)) |
|
| Sep-10-13 | | AylerKupp: <chessgames.com> The Team White vs. Team Black game, Battle of the Brains-4, may soon be over since there is a draw offer on the table by Team White and Team Black had earlier offered a draw which was rejected by Team White. So, I think it's time to give some thought to the game's title. <PinnedPiece>, inspired by <mistermac>, has suggested "Slaughterhouse d5" for the title. It's appropriate since there were seven consecutive captures on d5 (24...d5 25.exd5 Nxd5 26.Nxd5 Bxd5 27.Bxd5 Rxd5) and I think that this may be a record for consecutive captures on one square. So I think that it is a fitting title for the game and I urge you to consider it. |

 | | WannaBe: I like that idea, with K. Vonnegut connection. =) |

 | | chessgames.com: <Slaughterhouse d5> We love it. Looking forward to having it as GOTD. |
|
| Sep-10-13 | | whiteshark: <seven consecutive captures> I propose a re-count. ;) |
|
| Sep-10-13 | | AylerKupp: <whiteshark> There was actually the possibility of ten, had Team White chosen to play 28.Qxd5, which would likely have been followed by 28...Rxd5 29.Rxd5. |

| Sep-10-13 | | ughaibu: Chessgames.com: I guess you don't know what it means, in UK rhyming slang, to describe someone as a "ginger". |
|
Sep-11-13
 | | Domdaniel: Hint: the rhyme is with 'Ginger beer' ... |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | MarkFinan: <ughaibu: Chessgames.com: I guess you don't know what it means, in UK rhyming slang, to describe someone as a "ginger".> Im from the UK and ive no idea! And only in certain parts of London do you people use cockney rhyming slang, were not all Londoners ya know.. I know now Dom added the "beer" though. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | Benzol: I have heard the word "ginger" pronounced as though it rhymes with the word singer. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | MarkFinan: Dom, you were talking about the Ignore feature and LMAJ. <LIFE Master AJ: <pugak> For all I know, YOU are Ivanov. (+ignore)> If the admins were serious about putting a stop to Goldsby, and all that comes with him, dont give him the Ignore option? Take it away, and hed leave of his own accord. They’ve given him so many concessions, yet have only ever sent him emails about his behavior, he doesnt care! Ban his IP, then he cant even post..
We all know he only uses Ignore to stop people either asking him difficult questions or commenting on his player page. |

| Sep-11-13 | | chessmoron: No live game for Women's World Championship? BTW post game 1 please. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | ughaibu: MarkFinian: That rhyming slang is peculiar to cockneys is a myth. For example, as a kid growing up in Sheffield, I thought "scarper" was a standard word. I only recently learned that it's a rhyming slang. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | hms123: <scarper>
<Probably from Italian scappare (“to run away”), influenced by Cockney rhyming slang Scapa Flow = go.> http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/scarp... |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | ughaibu: Hms123: are you contending that rhyming slang is peculiar to cockneys? If so: 1) please disclose any personal details about your location of birth or residence, which might induce a bias, 2) explain the choice of Hampton over Hackney. |

| Sep-11-13 | | ughaibu: Hey, Chessgames.com! The question of why a game is "notable" comes up a lot. Is it covered in the FAQ? More to the point, does anyone ever read the FAQ? My suggestion, for the improvement of the site, is that the FAQ would function more efficiently if retitled "fulminating arboreal Qliphoth". Great idea, isn't it, and no danger of corruption by rhyming slang. |

 | | Domdaniel: It's true that rhyming slang is not just a cockney thing -- there's also a version in Dublin, where I used to live -- eg, Brown bread = dead, moby dick = sick. <MarkFinan> I probably disagree with Mr Goldsby on just about everything, but I don't really want to see him banned. I don't even have him on ignore (though he has certainly ignored me in the past). Live and let live, I guess. (I know, I'm a wimp. Cheers.) |

 | | Domdaniel: BTW, is "notyetagm" really rhyming slang for "syntagm" ... ?? |
