 | | Domdaniel: <Why burden the Net with further superfluous material?>
Um, because the Nutterweb is now so unutterably vast that any contribution of yours is just a micro-drop in a galactic ocean? cf the well-known proof that almost all numbers are small. |
|
| Dec-04-14 | | optimal play: <OhioChessFan: I'm on 9. Dinosaur Age.> Is that 6,000 years or 65 million? :D) |

 | | chessgames.com: <MissScarlett> <Can't I just apply here and now to your most wise and solicitous suggestion?> There are several reasons why we prefer to do this by email. If nothing else, it prevents the scenario where we refuse somebody publicly. |

| Dec-05-14 | | howardb86: I want all my collections to be under my 'user name'. Most are there, but lately I cannot start a collection to be there; instead they are seen only on 'see other collections' ( of mine).
In saving I get no choice to be under Main user name...like used to be.
thx |

 | | MissScarlett: In which case, I must decline your kind offer. But don't let that hinder you from approving my current submissions. I'll expect them for Christmas. |
|
| Dec-05-14 | | dakgootje: <DomD><the well-known proof that almost all numbers are small.> Exactly, most, but not all!
For example, consider the number 17.
Supposedly, there exist larger numbers yet! But many a man has wasted away, trying to find them. |

 | | MissScarlett: One more thing...the recent Corsican Circuit rapidplay, notable for Anand's defeat by Fedorchuk, eluded your dragnet: http://www.theweekinchess.com/chess... |

 | | chessgames.com: <howardb86> I'm not clear on what you are experiencing. Here are all of your game collections: howardb86's Game Collections The are all under your name, but also under the collection name, as intended. Now that you have more than 20 collections you have a page #1 and page #2. Where exactly do you see the message "see other collections" ? |

 | | chessgames.com: Kasparov played two games recently: Kasparov-Habu Tokyo Exhibition (2014) |
|
| Dec-05-14 | | Karpova: I don't see a kibitzing section in Kasparov-Habu Tokyo Exhibition (2014). |
|
Dec-05-14
 | | chessgames.com: We didn't activate it for only two games, but I suppose we should, just because it's Kasparov. |

 | | Domdaniel: <dak> No, I think 17 is small. 23, however, is another matter.
(An icosatriphiliac speaks... ) |
|
| Dec-05-14 | | dakgootje: Indeed, 23 was my main numerical alternative to 17.
However, I wasn't sure which of them was larger. |

 | | OhioChessFan: The new piece icons are simply horrible when viewed through IE. |
|
| Dec-06-14 | | Thanh Phan: <Michelle Phan> a YouTube commenter noticed a trend from last year of 60% desktops to this year of 70% mobile views for her videos |

 | | Tabanus: <Ohio> They are horrible on my old screen at home, but fine on my new screen at work. |
|
| Dec-06-14 | | Tomlinsky: <OCF> It may be due to some form of datasensing if you are on a low bandwidth connection. Hit Ctrl + F5 and the images in the cache should be resampled and look better. |
|
Dec-06-14
 | | OhioChessFan: Ctrl + f5 did something, but it didn't make the piece icons look any better. |
|
| Dec-06-14 | | Thanh Phan: I think Ctrl + f5 clears or refreshes cache of page |
|
| Dec-06-14 | | Tomlinsky: <OCF> Dunno then. When I'm on mobile connection the aforementioned resamples icons/graphics when they are grainy. If you are referring to characters, as opposed to icons, try checking your ClearType setting perhaps. Other than that I haven't a clue, all seems okay here on IE. |

 | | Richard Taylor: CG.com I'm playing in the NZ Open Championships. You might be interested in putting that up here. There is a range of players. Organised by the NZCA at GM Murray Chandler's new Chess Centre there are about 14 nationalities: there are a few GMs (one at least is over 2600) and some IMs FMs and others. As it is an open Swiss I was able to participate. |

 | | Richard Taylor: Here are some relevant links:
http://www.newzealandchess.co.nz/
http://www.newzealandchess.co.nz/NZ... http://www.newzealandchess.co.nz/Ve... There is even at least one US player*. At least on Canadian-NZr who I played in the Seniors (Gordon Morrell who I think is member here also, but despite the shaky relations betwixt US and Canada I think the spirit of chess will prevail - i.e. gens una summus or is that sumus? ["some of us are gents" or "one summer doth not a General make" something like that...] I am assuming of course that war will not have broken out between NZ and the US by 1.1.2015 (Ooops! Used the Kiwi way of showing the date! Have to watch out...) That is 2015 1. 1. or 1. 1. (Pity it's not 1.1.1111 ! But seriously I think I may not even be the only paid up member on here playing. I expect to get massacred by the GMs or IMs etc and the sharp Juniors (hopefully those over 3 years of age) but get in a few swindles against some or the 68 to 80 year old players...so hoping for 50% or perhaps more modestly 30%..well...10% then....but I am hoping at least that I wont come last...[3%?] *I'm sure there was last time I looked but perhaps I was wrong. He may have withdrawn. |

 | | Richard Taylor: < Stonehenge: <[Site "Verschiedene"] >
Verschiedene is German for various.>
Maybe there is a town in Germany actually called Various. A corruption of some famous Roman who invaded the place and introduced free soda water (soft drinks we call them over here in Saneland)... Just speculating. |

 | | Tabanus: <CG> Let me file another complaint. You have said TI events will be priority no. 1, and especially if correction slips are sent by CG editors. Yet your <Librarian> after several weeks has not reacted to: 1) A Zubov, should be Alexander Zubov. 2) Speelman vs Peters, 1980, Black is John A Peters 3) Ulf Andersson vs Peters, 1981, Black is John A Peters 4) Korchnoi-Reshevsky Candidates Quarterfinal (1968), should have space on each side of "-" (as agreed) 5) Portisch vs Spassky, 1980, site is Xalapa MEX 6) Spassky vs Portisch, 1980, site is Xalapa MEX Other irritating errors (non-TI):
7) K Gudmundsson vs Pachman, 1962, White is Arinbjorn Gudmundsson, see two sources in kibitz. 8) Several players with first name found after lots of work, see my forum header. Some of them are little known US Open players for <Phony Benoni>'s collections. On a positive note: I see that the players/table in Mexico City (1932) is now squeeky clean! |
