Any word on creating forums for the <2015 FIDE WORLD YOUTH & CADET CHAMPIONSHIP> that I requested and provided links for earlier on this page?

Thanks

chessgames.com: <2015 FIDE WORLD YOUTH & CADET CHAMPIONSHIP> We'll have that up today; at least the two U18 groups.
Nov-02-15  gauer: It seems a bit too bad that there's a (potential) wait on these: chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #18452) and chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #20947) as well (or perhaps they got rejected for some reason? a year or so later, some of the kids are performing a bit better than the 2200+ cut-off of Pgn upload utility)?

In some cases, the chess-results site has a bulk pgn download link, but I'm not sure how long a pgn would be expected to reside once a yearly congress page (ie WYCC 2012, WYCC 2013, etc "official" pages) would "disappear" from some net archives.

Are the comments section of pgn upload utility generally read fairly soon after user upload, or not until pending in a queue for some sort of admin approval later? Hopefully, if an external tournament link was added at upload time, an admin might place viewing the link and/or downloading a pgn link in the comment box on a bit of priority, if they become hard to access in a wayback machine.

Domdaniel: <CG> In general, is it possible for you to announce in advance which events you intend to cover with live games? And might you be able to notify us when one is coming up?

I appreciate that it's not always easy to be definite about this, but it would be good to know which tournaments can be followed here.

Nov-07-15  zanzibar: I have an idea that might make a good addition to an <Opening Tree> window.

You know those opening stats showing frequency, scoring and drawing percentages, average year, average ELO, etc.?

An average length stat might be nice too.

That way, we could tell if all those draws involved reached the endgame (i.e. involved some true combat).

E.g. in the English

(A debut year stat would also be nice, but for aesthetic/historical reasons more than functionally)

Don't worry - chess is only a game so it isn't the end of the world.

At least you didn't start a war of aggression, then declare "mission accomplished" to the entire world after a few weeks, only to see the war continue for a decade.

Boy, <that> would be embarrassing...

add &result=notdraw to the end of the tournament link.

Example: European Club Cup (2015)

  kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com

Regarding Brussels 1987, I think they organised a 5 minute tournament along with a classical time control tournament.

An example of a 5 minute game is:
Kasparov vs Tal, 1987

which in the comments Raymond Keene indicates he was there.

Is it somehow possible to more clearly label the Brussels 1987 blitz games?!

These are the "classical" Brussels 1987 games:

Game Collection: 1987 S.W.I.F.T. Brussels

It is funny because I did a Youtube video yesterday which may have been a 5 minute game :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zz...

It seems a little bit of shallow tactics here.

Cheers, K

chessgames.com: Hi <KingsCrusher> ... <Is it somehow possible to more clearly label the Brussels 1987 blitz games?!>

With the features associated with the Biographer Bistro we now have a formal and precise way to accomplish that.

The first step: compile a game collection of all of the blitz games. From there, it can be "inducted" which means (1) all of the headers are identical except for round numbers and dates, (2) kibitzing is opened for the event, (3) all games are clearly labeled "blitz", (4) it's listed in the Tournament Index.

For more information check out the links at the top of the Biographer Bistro page.
