 | | Annie K.: I agree with <Tab> on this. ;) <cg> psst, plz check your mail? |

| Dec-20-15 | | TheFocus: On the birthday list, you left off Arthur Feuerstein. Come on. He beat Bobby Fischer once. |

 | | Domdaniel: <sheep-killing fly> ... I should explain. Wouldn't want to offend <Tabanus>. Years ago, the writer William Burroughs, as a youngster in St Louis, was told by a neighbour that he looked like "a sheep-killing dog". Much later, a girlfriend of mine, who knew this quote, was asked about me. "He looks like a sheep-killing fly", she said. I took it as a compliment. So should <Tab>, the fly in the ointment. BTW, I used to use Tab's fly icon on my headed notepaper in the 1990s. |

 | | Tabanus: Hey, I'm the offender.
And that only four days before Christmas! When the sheep are indoors. Hmm. But I'm not happy with the action in the Bistro. Or lack of. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Tab> Happy Jul. |
|
Dec-20-15
 | | Tabanus: <Dom> Thanks the same! God Jul to all. |

 | | chessgames.com: Arthur Feuerstein, although rated only 2088, now has the Chessgames Star of Megaimportance. Matter settled. |
|
| Dec-20-15 | | TheFocus: <chessgames.com> Thank you for the Feuerstein add! |

 | | OhioChessFan: <But I'm not happy with the action in the Bistro. Or lack of.> The idea of discussing biographies in the Biographer's Bistro apparently is so passe' that everyone who was interested has been run off. Just saying. |
|
| Dec-21-15 | | Everyone: <OCF> Holla back! |

 | | MissScarlett: Time is short....I need my submitted games before Christmas... |

 | | OhioChessFan: No big deal, but a few pages don't have the live clue banner: Chessgames Help, Kibitzing Tricks, Player Directory!, Premium Member Help Page, and the Official Contest Rules Page! |

Dec-21-15
 | | Annie K.: AFAIK, those are the "simple html" pages. You may notice that they don't have the customized top menu either. <cg> already mentioned that this was a technical issue. |
|
Dec-22-15
 | | chessgames.com: < MissScarlett et al > We're putting up some of the most lingering submissions now. Phony Benoni, we offer apologies to you, you have more games in the queue than anybody and for precisely that reason we don't have time to tend to them right now. We'll get to them when we have more time, promise. |

Dec-22-15
 | | chessgames.com: <those are the "simple html" pages ... technical issue.> Exactly. We don't see it as much of a problem because as you use Chessgames those are pages you might consult for a moment but not ones you'd be refreshing. |

| Dec-22-15 | | sonia91: All the games apart of the first two attributed to Alexander Ipatov (2100 rated, born in 1994) are actually played by Alexander Ipatov, former World Junior Champion, 2600+ GM. Before you uploaded round 3 game from Qatar Masters I already sumitted 2 correction slips. Come on, <chessgames.com > how can a 2100 player been allowed to play in Qatar (players must be at least 2300 to play!, as you should know)?! This 2100 player is Russian, so how can he made it to play in the Chess Olympiad?! I repeat (hope it's the last time): all but the first two are played by the 2600+ rated Alexander Ipatov. |
|
Dec-22-15
 | | Domdaniel: <This 2100 player is Russian, so how can he made it to play in the Chess Olympiad?!> It's not impossible, though obviously he would not have represented Russia.
Offhand, I can think of several players who played in Olympiads for their adopted countries, including GMs like Baburin and several Israeli and US players. But also quite a few with lower ratings: Bill Hook, Virgin Islands; Stuart Fancy, Papua New Guinea; various players with Jersey, Guernsey, such as Filipino Ernie Manzanilla... |
|
Dec-22-15
 | | Domdaniel: <sonia91> I'm sure you're right about the two players named Ipatov, but simply asserting the difference doesn't help CG to fix the mistake. Have you given them any evidence you may have -- documents, references, personal knowledge, etc? I've teased apart a few similar confusions in the past, and it's helpful to provide solid evidence. |

 | | Phony Benoni: <chessgames.com? Thanks for the note. I'd much rather have you take time to check the games rather than just load them willy-nilly. |
|
Dec-22-15
 | | MissScarlett: No need to check my games. By way of a crumb of comfort, I gift to <Phony Benoni>, Ed. Lasker vs J T Beckner, 1919 |

 | | Phony Benoni: <MissScarlett>: Thanks! |
|
| Dec-22-15 | | sonia91: <Domdaniel> I've checked every tournament this guy supposedly played in his FIDE page, but as I expetected he never played in events like Dubai Open, Qatar, 2014 Olympiad. Before making such statements I <always> check, unlike someone else. When I (or rather, cg.com bio and FIDE profile) say he's Russian I (cg.com/FIDE) mean he represents Russia. |

Dec-22-15
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <sonia91> Chessgames administrators didn't assign those games to the wrong Alexander Ipatov; a computer program did. The program sometimes gets confused when there are two players in the database with the exact same name; it has happened before. <cg> Renaming the Russian Alexander Ipatov to Alexander Sergeevich Ipatov or Alexander S Ipatov (compare Vladimir I Fedoseev) should prevent this problem from recurring. |

| Dec-23-15 | | MarkFinan: <<DougBaker: Hey Mark is this picture you? A friend of mine thinks he knows who you are.

I don't know who this <DougBaker> is but he's posting photos of me on this site. Given that he's not been here long and made 5 or 6 posts, all mentioning me, I'm thinking it's kkderek... Again! You know the IP address. I couldn't care less what you do/don't do about this, but if that IP address is from Rio De Janeiro Brazil then I'd like to know. |
