| Mar-30-16 | | zanzibar: <AnnieK> the rounds are actually more useful than the dates in general. (Some games get delayed, etc.)
How it's formatted is a preference, I understand. But having the info at hand is a great time saver. |

| Mar-31-16 | | Tiggler: Extremely disappointed with you <chessgames>, sorry to say. This may be goodbye. |

 | | chessgames.com: I'm sorry Tiggler.
I am considering a way that I receive an SMS message or at least a Google+ PM every time a premium member submits a Whistle. Perhaps it will only resort to that measure if we get more than one Whistle for the same person. That way even if I'm on the road I can tell when there is a flood of complaints. Anyhow, I realize that this was a failure and I am trying to think of ways to avoid it in the future. |

 | | Tabanus: Report from Norway: CG's was hanging for 55 mins, 11:30 am - 12:25 pm Norwegian time. I think this same time also on previous days! |

 | | WannaBe: <CG> Super weird, every page is fine, except the Candidates 2016 page, where all the kibitzing are in the middle column, about 1.5" across. On my iPad, 9.3.1 iOS. I've seen cases where posts goes all the way across a page, but I've never seen a page where the posts are "scrunched " in the middle. Like they are all centered. |
|
| Apr-01-16 | | zanzibar: <WannaBe> Tales from typographic censors? I looked up "scrunched middle" on youtube, and ended up learning a lot about hair styling. https://www.youtube.com/results?sea... |

| Apr-03-16 | | sonia91: The <Asian Nations Cup> (with open and women's sections) is currently underway in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It's the Asian equivalent of the European Team Chess Championship, the winner qualifies for the 2017 World Team Chess Championship. 2700+ players here are Bu Xiangzhi, Wang Yue, Wei Yi. You covered the previous edition: Asian Nations Cup (2014) |

| Apr-03-16 | | rookhouse: <chessgames.com: I think I know the answer to that. At some point, perhaps in the early 2000s, there must have been some very poor chess database that was incapable of storing years prior to 1900. Because of that there are games prior to 1900 that are listed as 1900. Sometimes I see them show up as 1901.> Any update or progress on this? |
|
| Apr-03-16 | | zanzibar: <CG> another request/favor to ask... Most probably don't hit this, but I work with some fairly large collections. The most recent is only moderately large, just 69 games. The trouble is, I had to do extensive editing of the intro - necessitating many edit/view/re-edit cycles. The trouble is that I have to scroll over a bunch of uninteresting games to get to the edit button. <Could we have an edit button at the top and bottom of the game list?> Another option, e.g. found on wordpress, is to have a preview button. That would require more sophisticated code changes, so I'd be happy with two edit buttons/collection. Thoughts? |

| Apr-04-16 | | zanzibar: I think <CG> needs some good zombie avatars... do we even have a single one? |

 | | offramp: I've just noticed that the player page at Lionel Adalbert Bagration Felix Kieseritsky has the player's name wrong. It has -sky instead of -zky. Links to the games have the right spelling. |
|
| Apr-05-16 | | zanzibar: Not all of the game links have the right spelling:
Kieseritsky / Kling |
|
| Apr-05-16 | | zanzibar: Or would that be the right spelling? I'm confused. |
|
Apr-05-16
 | | offramp: <zanzibar: Or would that be the right spelling? I'm confused.> If you Google Kieseritsky, Mr Brin attaches a note to the results which reads, "Showing results for Kieseritzky; Search instead for Kieseritsky?" So he thinks that the -ZKY version is correct, and I believe he is from the same area as Mr Kieseritzky himself. |

 | | chessgames.com: <offramp: I've just noticed that the player page at Lionel Adalbert Bagration Felix Kieseritsky has the player's name wrong. It has -sky instead of -zky.
Links to the games have the right spelling.> That means we have an incorrectly spelled short-name and a proper long-name. A great while go (pre 2005) we had an idea to intentionally create inconsistencies like that so that the search would work with either spelling. We have abandoned that practice. For a player as big of Kieseritzky I imagine that's what happened. Incidentally, although this error is somewhat noteworthy, you could just submit a correction slip. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Any chance of getting a page for the Polish Men's Championship 2016?> Honestly we're waiting for TWIC to clean up the games for us. Do you have a link to PGN? I haven't seen it yet but I know from previous years that they love to put non-Western characters in their PGN which we don't put up with. |

 | | chessgames.com: <zanzibar: Ronnie wonders if <CG> has icons for Magaret and Nancy on the site...> We try to avoid political avatars but make a few exceptions. For American members, somewhere this is a Republican Elephant, Democratic Donkey, and a Libertarian Porcupine. Our policy is to never provide avatars of current or recent presidents. |
|
| Apr-05-16 | | zanzibar: <CG> I just didn't want Ronnie to be felling alone... < For American members, somewhere this is a Republican Elephant, Democratic Donkey, and a Libertarian Porcupine.> For the life of me, I never knew the Libertarian mascot was a Porcupine. Kinda makes sense though. |

| Apr-05-16 | | zanzibar: <chessgames> have we thought anymore about the Source tag thing? |
|
| Apr-05-16 | | zanzibar: Thanks <offramp> and <switch> for those posts. I always used <Kieseritzky> in my own databases. I was wondering about with the "-sky" spelling came from. And let's admit, the <CG> redirect hack is a bit confusing. At somepoint a real level of redirection should be added to the search stack, I think. |
