| | chessgames.com: <In-house, <chessgames>, in-house.> I know, I was being facetious—but seriously, if you really had to convey a URL that Chessgames was flubbing, that tool would work every time. <Stonehenge: Correction slips, game queue *please*> Sorry Stonehenge, we're doing games now; Sargon might be a week or two behind but he'll get caught up. |

| | WannaBe: <Z> from what I can see, it's gamedb/game/969907 and then it's the actual fen for the game click for larger view2r4q/p4pk1/3pb1p1/N7/1PPp2n1/P3b1PB/2R1P1K1/3NQR2 Hence, the full URL should look like something like: http://chesstempo.com/gamedb... If you click on it, you will see Lilienthal - Nezhmetdinov game with the correct position. What I did, was to replace the 6 /s after .com, gamedb, game, after first FEN break, second FEN break with Decimal code / |

| | Annie K.: <WannaBe> you only need to replace *one* of them. ;) |
|
Mar-14-17
| | WannaBe: <Annie K.> Which one? I did do that (trial and error) and I finally got the link to work after the 5th or 6th one... I started by replacing the / after .com and then the one after gamedb, etc... |

Mar-14-17
| | Annie K.: I think any one of the slashes <from the FEN string> should do it. That's the part that collides with local coding. :) |
|
Mar-14-17
| | WannaBe: <Annie K.>, <Z>, so the trick was to replace the slash, and then the %20 for the spaces after FEN for the '- - 2 20' |

| | saffuna: How can I search the posts of former user <JoergWalter>? |
|
| Mar-14-17 | | crawfb5: type <user:JoergWalter> in the Search Kibitzing box. That returns 333 pages. To narrow it down, add keywords, e.g., <user:JoergWalter sport> cuts it down to 2 pages. |

| Mar-14-17 | | zanzibar: <WannaBe> initial effort was impressive enough. Seems both <AnnieK> and <WannaBe> are natural coders are heart. I do like the little right-angle glyph that shows up. But still, this is getting to be pretty serious hacking. I have to wonder why <CG> doesn't do something like Little Machines does: <url, as is, no special handling> It's just destined to go into an HTML "a href=<url>"(*) construct anyways. The idea is to just be able to use the exact same, simple(?!), url that works in any browser's locator bar. E.g. like the link <CT> explicitly provides in a pop-up. What can't <CG> do this? Everybody else does. (*) I'd have put angle brackets around this quoted phrase, but <CG> complains that ~ HTML IS NOT ALLOWED IN POSTS. Should I mention the desire for verbatim mode as well? Another feature already included in vanilla HTML via <pre> or <code> tags. (Note <CG> doesn't complain about those... hmmm. |

| | WannaBe: <Z> You wanna see serious hackin'? Give me your credit card number. You trust me, right?? C'mon, ol' buddy, ol' pal, best friend... You've known me (online) for 5 months now. =)))) |
|
| Mar-14-17 | | zanzibar: Let's try this one first -
<crawfb5> noted that a <Search Kibitzing> can be restricted to a particular user with the undocumented(?) user:<user> qualification. Can <CG> please allow other qualifiers? I'm thinking of pid:<pid> or tid:<tid> or maybe even uname:<uname>. PS- you think they'd trust me with a credit card?! I have to snick out to use a keyboard already. |
|
| Mar-15-17 | | crawfb5: <z> You can even search for any posts that mention you and exclude your own posts by searching for <-user:zanzibar zanzibar> These features are semi-documented. The simple "search for any posts by user Chess Fan" is mentioned in the tip below the Search Kibitzing box. Discussion of some other tricks and possible extensions can be located with <user:chessgames.com user search> |
|
| Mar-15-17 | | zanzibar: Thanks <crawfb5>. I also wonder if we can create a user group search feature, like: user:@editors or some-such.
Or even allow users to create their own search lists: user:@favs , etc. etc. |
|
| Mar-15-17 | | crawfb5: <z> There is already a box to check to search only within your favorites list. |
|
| Mar-15-17 | | zanzibar: <crawfb5> I see now. Just like blitz - I'm subject to chess blindness all too often. |
|
| Mar-15-17 | | zanzibar: (Of course, I'm like Porky Pine in Pogo - don't have too many favorites) |

Mar-16-17
| | chessgames.com: I added a "search thread" line for all kibitzing threads that have over one page (25+) posts. For example here is all of the occurrences of "FIDE" on the Botvinnik page: Search Kibitzing. Like generic kibitzing search, it's premium-only. |

| | chessgames.com: It does violate our policy of not poking fun at the loser's name. Under consideration. |
|
Mar-17-17
| | chessgames.com: OK, we toned it down a notch. I hope you find the new rendering less obnoxious. |
