| Aug-30-18 | | zanzibar: RE: <CG tournaments - tid> Researching the history of <CG>, I got to wondering what was the first tournament officially featured on <CG>? I still don't know the answer, but it dovetails a little with the discussion <Switch> and I were having. Now, <CG> tournaments start at tid=10000. 1 (1900) It has the name, <1 (1900)>, but note that none of the games it contains are from 1900 (?!?). How these games came to be grouped together is truly baffling, other then the Event/Location field = <1>. Still, the Date field is entirely neglected, which certainly makes whatever filtering done once upon a time pretty much useless.

As is, the tid is virtually useless (please, correct me otherwise, if possible). <CG> should add the Event/Location fields used by all other db's to its search filter. But otherwise, the games should just go into a general pool to await proper assignment to a tournament (i.e. tid). |
