Sep-09-18  Pyke: Thank you, <chessgames.com>!
Sep-09-18  thegoodanarchist: <Pyke:

This is a chess site after all; you sign up knowing the rules - it's your choice. Don't like the rules? Leave.>

The problem is, we have too many leftists on this site who think the rules should only apply to people who are not leftists.

These intolerant people break the rules, then go complaining to <Sargon> about <other people> who break the rules.

saffuna: Nobody has been anywhere near as consistently abusive as <big pawn>, and he ratcheted it up over the past few weeks. He also became fixated on using homosexual imagery, whether it was related to a discussion or not.

HeMateMe: Will the site be bringing in more new tournament results to the home page? [nothing new since Biel.] Some of us are waiting on renewal, to see where the site is going. A hint of future plans would be helpful, thanks in advance.

And <DWOB> matched him hateful post for hateful post.

Here comes the double standard.

saffuna: <focus> I just do not agree.

At least you concede <big pawn> made hateful posts.

Sep-09-18  TheFocus: <saffuna: <focus> I just do not agree. At least you concede <big pawn> made hateful posts.>

On <Rogoff> on Sept. 4, I called him out on his proposed Debate Rules: <I doubt you would be able to go one week without insulting someone and getting called out on it.>

I think if you go back to when Daniel passed away and <Big Pawn> first said that <DWOB> had caused Daniel's death, I was one of the first to say something about it in rebuke. (I can't look up the exact post... shrugs.)

And I don't think you can find a single post in which I offered support to either <Big Pawn> and <DWOB> in their catfight. Unless I called them both idiots. I'm an equal opportunity idiot-caller.

Other than possibly calling them idiots, and I don't know if I even did that, I didn't wade into that sewer with BP and DWOB.

Sep-09-18  TheFocus: <saffuna: <focus> I just do not agree.

If you are confirming that <DWOB> has made hateful posts, then, yes, I agree. Both made hateful posts.

saffuna: Yes, both. Hard to deny. I would say there is a large difference in volume and intensity, more on <bp>'s side.
Sep-09-18  TheFocus: <saffuna: Yes, both. Hard to deny. I would say there is a large difference in volume and intensity, more on <bp>'s side.>

Then BOTH should be banned.

It's a double standard here. There's more of that coming.

Sep-09-18  Nisjesram: <chessgames.com: <Nisjesram: <Richard Taylor: Are Big Pawn and company to get a sound spanking?> Yes. <big pawn> already got permanently banned.> Don't make too many assumptions>

This is what his bio says.

'Censored permsnently'....

So, perhaps chessgames asked him something like "enough is enough. You are banned . Repent . And the ban will be removed"

Well, nobody talks to <big pawn> like that without inviting his great vengeance and furious anger , as his erstwhile friend and prominent member of his elite poster committe <johnbarleycorn> realized recently

:)

Nobody comes close to abusive trolling of <big pawn>.

Sheer nonsense from <thegoodanarchist> . Nonsense to imply that <big pawn> was treated unfairly and others who did what <big pawn> did got scot free.

Nobody could match abusive trolling of <big pawn> - not anywhere close.

.

Sep-09-18  thegoodanarchist: < saffuna: Nobody has been anywhere near as consistently abusive as <big pawn>, and he ratcheted it up over the past few weeks. He also became fixated on using homosexual imagery, whether it was related to a discussion or not.>

Over the years, I'd say Mark was more abusive by far. It's no contest.

Nearly every post he makes in Rogoff violates the posting guidelines.

How many dozens and dozens of posts did he make that were horrible attacks on Daniel? For a while, it seemed to be double digit number of posts attacking Daniel on a daily basis, although I did not count.

Sep-09-18  Robed.Bishop: I agree with <TheFocus>. Mark has been equally bad in volume. Indeed, he has been in just about every flame war this site has recently seen, and he has involved management in just about every one of them.
Sep-09-18  Nisjesram: <thegoodanarchist><How many dozens and dozens of posts did he make that were horrible attacks on Daniel? For a while, it seemed to be double digit number of posts attacking Daniel on a daily basis, although I did not count.>

What is the point ?

Everyone - including <winston> - concedes that he behavedly in past and <winston> said he intends to behave in a sober way now that <big pawn> has been disciplined.

<big pawn> never showed any inclination to behave in decent , sober way.

If <winston> or anyone else does not behave , discipline them by all means.

However, it is very good that <big pawn> was disciplined.

Better late than never.

.

Sep-09-18  Nisjesram: <Robed.Bishop: I agree with <TheFocus>. Mark has been equally bad in volume. Indeed, he has been in just about every flame war this site has recently seen, and he has involved management in just about every one of them>

<winston> , lie low profile and quiet for sometime , man. These people would provoke you and try to get you banned if you get provoked.

.

Sep-09-18  Nisjesram: <thefocus> <Other than possibly calling them idiots, and I don't know if I even did that, I didn't wade into that sewer with BP and DWOB.>

Well, <big pawn> openly said that he is waging a war against infidels , against those who were not believers and you and <thegoodanarchist> were very enthusiastic about his war - you admired him and his wars.

You openly said that you would fight alongside <big pawn> in this 'holy' war and dishonesty and lies were/are among your tools in this 'holy war' of yours.

You people are like islamic jehadis.

.

Sep-09-18  Keyser Soze: <t's a double standard here. There's more of that coming.> unbelievable really. Sad.
Sep-09-18  Robed.Bishop: I should have been clearer about what I agree with. I don’t know whether there is (or was) a double standard because I don’t know if <BP> was offered any options that he turned down that would have allowed him to post again at some future point.

Good post.

I think that is what happened.

It seems that admins asked him "enough is enough , <big pawn> . Please behave"

And <big pawn> refused.

I think admins have warned <winston> also and he says that he would be more careful in future.

That is how it appears reading the recent posts of admin and <winston>

chessgames.com: <Keyser Soze: It's a double standard here. There's more of that coming. Unbelievable really.>

Balderdash. We'll just see about <that>. The process of moderating the mayhem of the last several weeks is only beginning, and those who are <currently> in the habit of <misbehaving> are going to be admonished or disciplined.

I can tell you <one> thing though—<anyone> who goes around accusing other members of contributing to Daniel's death is a <troll>, plain and simple—and I know one when I see one. The Admin of this site will not tolerate such shenanigans.

Everyone should expect some <enhancements> to the Chessgames.com <posting guidelines> very soon. This is a chess-related site, not a personal or political free-for-all. Keep things as animated as desired—while maintaining a modicum of <civility>. Anyone who does that will be <fine>. But anyone who engages in excessive name-calling, personal antagonism, and other such overtly <trollish> behavior is going to run into problems.

<Daniel> was a staunch <libertarian>—like I am—who cherished <free speech>. He also strongly believed in the value and efficacy of the <US Constitution> and its <Bill of Rights>. But <anarchy> was NOT his cup of tea—nor is it mine.

So there <will> be order imposed on some of the chaos we've seen emerge, as various members have attempted to exploit Dan's death as an opportunity to "push the envelope", settle old scores, etc. Those overly indulgent <days> will soon be <over>. Anyone who wants to push their luck is going to experience blowback.

This should be a time period during which the <community> should be more <united> than ever—out of respect for who Dan <was>, and what he <accomplished>. <Nobody> is going to be permitted to use Dan's demise as a club to make gratuitous attacks on their fellow members.

<Sad.>

Cry me a river...

chessgames.com: Ladies and gentlemen, just to clarify, <BP> has NOT been suspended on any kind of permanent basis—simply "indefinitely" for the moment. We're reviewing his behavior as well as others, and rest assured that there will not be and measures undertaken which most members would consider "unreasonable" or heavy-handed.

Please allow the Admin some <breathing room>—for a few days—to <prioritize> complaints we've already received, and after that, notify us of any offenders who you feel have been overlooked.

Having said that, whenever a member catches a <suspension>—for a fixed period of time or indefinitely—there is a <consensus> within the Admin that it is richly <deserved>.

One piece of sage <advice>: when you're near the subway, <don't touch the third rail>.
