| Sep-06-22 | | stone free or die: <<Missy> Re. <Carlsen - Mamedyarov>, the clock was started, so the game should feature.> Feature? Hmm, what does that mean?
Typically, withdrawing before the half-way point means all games get nullified. (So, the "-x" treatment in the Event tag for the pgn. Since no moves were made in the Mamedyarov game, I suppose a stub could be kept to denote <Missy>'s observation, but I think an argument could be made that it would be superfluous.) |

Stalinism? Beria? Really?!

When someone points out the slippery slope, naturally the slippery slope artists come out of the woodwork to denounce and mock the very slippery slope truth which is pointed out. Premium Chessgames Member Susan Freeman: They say if one has abstained for one year that person is back to virgin status. Perhaps we could find a few of those around here.> I've identified the problem: paganism.

 | | Teyss: Hello,
Has CG ever considered adding a "Like" function or similar? Sometimes we feel a post is really good and don't want to overload the page just with "Well said", "Good point", etc. It's also quicker. Another advantage, it would indicate to the user if he/she is read and if it's worth continuing posting (yes, partly talking for myself now). You might say CG is not social media but some functions are useful regardless. You might be weary that this would reduce the number of postings but on the contrary, it would indicate which posts are worth reading and potentially induce users to answer. Let's face it, interaction is rather limited now: nominally addressed posts that are not answered, post that are not read and hence repeated, even on reduced pages (another example in today's POTD: S Bengtsson vs N Benmesbah, 2019 (kibitz #8)). Posts with likes would get more attention. It could also increase posting quality, tend to reduce trolling as they would get no recognition and maybe limit personal attacks as it would develop goodwill towards the defendant, as well as in general. Just an idea, maybe not appropriate. Have a good day. |
