Hello all,
I joined CG as an administrator/ front-end developer. I will start helping CG with administrative/editor tasks such as making sure tournaments and their bio's are complete and up-to-date, reading forums to help list and prioritize tasks at hand.

- Random game feature sometimes comes up with a non-existing game.
* Find out which game feature he's talking about. GTM?

- Plaintext passwords - Update the way CG stores user's passwords, perhaps add a Forgot Password link.

- Missing "notable games" and "notable tournaments" from player - <Jess> stevemcd87 chessforum We are setting up the old servers to use as a testing platform. It will help to debug this issue.

- Random Game Feature: Feature leads to bad links

- Opening Explorer keeps reverting to white pieces when analyzing black pieces

<Chessgames Enhancements:>
- Would like to add two columns to the games table:
1. Is game available in GTM

  perfidious: User <fredthebear> has disappeared this month, only to be replaced by a platoon of sock puppets, thus engaging in the very practice he has deplored elsewhere, all whilst filling pages with lies and calumnies against this narrator.

It is my belief that the socks are as follows:

<chess.o.rama>

<2071 S Milwaukee>

<Noah Parking>

<Rip2632>

<Little Caezarz>

<Shangri La>

Yes <MissScarlett> I've seen a few rapid/blitz games missing from the <FTX Crypto Cup> as well. We are working on having all missing games, from the <FTX> tournaments uploaded as soon as possible. Thanks again!

Aug-20-22  Little Caezarz: <Aug-13-22
perfidious: So far as I recall, there has recently been a quiet period here, with no posts being consigned to the dustbin.

Aug-13-22 chess.o.rama: "posts being consigned to the dustbin" Are these the members that are being censored?>

Users have presented clear evidence that perfidious is involved in deleting posts and punishing users on a whim. Obviously select managers communicate off-screen and cover for one another. perfidious may not have final say but he has strong influence on the scalper. perfidious has a passel of henchman in his circle and he wants to control this website. He enjoys attacking other people.

It's just wrong to punish users who make reasonable statements just because these select managers have the power to be cruel. 2701 S Milwaukee did not deserve to be treated so and neither did I. Chessgames managers are out-of-control punishing users who have done no wrong. Once a user is targeted by a manager, they swarm and sting the user repeatedly taking turns as I have experienced. These restrictions, deletions and suspensions are so very wrong. The users are being punished without trial but they did no wrong in the first place.

perfidious is behind the recent deletions as users described but the evidence is being systematically deleted by him or the scalper. Once again we ask for help and just treatment. Select managers are cruel to users.

  saffuna: This is really pretty funny. <Little Caezarz> rants against alleged unfair treatment.

He makes these complaints by making the same post on multiple pages, violating guideline #2 in the process of claiming he's "done no wrong."

Aug-21-22  Rdb: So, <George wallace> is complaining once again today in cg.com forum

Admins have fixed rogoff forum and some people are unhappy.

How many people are unhappy and complaining? Just one.

Can you believe it ? Just one person unhappy and complaining that admins fixed rogoff forum !

So , <Z> was right all along that there is only one person (and two of his buddies who emulate him ) who is causing all problems at rogoffland.

Aug-28-22  Rdb: Interesting post by <Keyser soze> , defending his buddy <George wallace>/<big pawn> and criticizing <z>

Well, admins had given ultimatum to <z> and he decided to co operate with admins , he complied. Everybody - including <saffuna> , <chancho> et al - cooperted with admins except...who is the guy who did not co operate with admins but instead kept on defying/threatening admins in aggressive/rude/insulting way ? Yes , <george wallace>/<big pawn>

Sep-03-22  stone free or die: <Missy> just curious, but how did you know that game was missing? Are you sure no other games are missing?

(E.g. Are you using SCID's tournament xtab to find holes in the xtab?)

  petemcd85: <stone free or die: Not sure if this is useful still, but what-the-heck...>

Thanks <stone>!! The game is up now.

Sep-03-22  stone free or die: <petemcd85> - sorry but I got the game date wrong - R5 was 2022.07.11 I believe (please doublecheck).

I didn't check the normalization of the PGN game headers to <CG>, so all the tags should be double checked.

(That last piece really should be proforma when updating any tournament games)

Sep-03-22  stone free or die: FWIW - all of Radjabov's games were nullified when he withdrew after R5. His 4 losses didn't need modification, but he did score one draw:

Radjabov vs Mamedyarov, 2022

What should the game result be?

I would suggest 0 instead of 1/2, as that's the official scoring. A comment in the PGN could provide <CG> users with the informal draw result.

But others might weigh in differently (Missy?).

  MissScarlett: I think we should differentiate between game result and scoreboard result. There have been events where a draw resulted in 1/4 point. There was at least one game in which both players were scored zero. Armageddon games when draws count as decisive results are the acid test, I suppose.
Sep-05-22  stone free or die: Armageddon are indeed the acid test. And there the 0 score should be used, imo - with a boilerplate comment in the PGN for users.

As far as Radjubov's annulled games go - the "standard" solution is to leave the "normal" game result in the PGN, and put the games into a separate Event with the "- x" or "-x" nonmenclature:

< [Event "<standard tournament name> - x"]>.

That keeps the xtab (via PGN) clean for the tournament.

* * * * *

Note <chess24.com> is using a new PGN tag to track the GCT scoring system:

<WhiteScore / BlackScore>.

It's certainly one possible solution. But is it the best? (Note PGN tag is redundant with appended game result - suggesting another possible place (or places) to tuck the score).

Thanks for the advice. I'll talk to <steve> about it.

Sep-06-22  stone free or die: Oops - I'm still a bit rusty, so I got the "-x" part wrong. It seems "+" is used instead, e.g. see:

https://www.365chess.com/tournament...

Note that this is a good example of games which one would like to include, but didn't contribute to the final xtab for the tournament.

(Stern withdrew, and the Paulsen--DeVere game was contested [Paulsen lost on time], and the committee allowed it to be replayed).

  petemcd85: <MissScarlett: What's the delay in updating Moscow Stars (2022) with all the games?>

There's only 10 PGN game-files for the Moscow Stars: https://theweekinchess.com/twic
TWIC PGN 1146
Then it moves on to the 18th Moscow Open A and
18th Moscow Open B.
If you know where to find the missing pgn game-files, let me know and I will put it up
