| Aug-24-08 | | Insane Olde Batte: I see you are wasting valuable forum space showing <Alekhine>! He didn't even invent that move you know. It was invented in 1920 by <Ed 1.e4 Nf6> |
|
| Aug-24-08 | | Insane Olde Batte: <I ENJOY> reading <TERMS> in a <CLEAR FORMAT>. My trick? I use the <POINTY THINGS> and <CAP LOCKS>. "We can't go cap in hand to the Frogs"
-Chariots of Fire |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <Ms Batte> May I call you 'Batty'? I don't trust those CAP LOCKS. Unscrupulous persons use bolt-cutters on them and then you have no cap and no lock. And you have to walk home in the rain. A FLINT LOCK works better on that class of person. |
|
| Aug-24-08 | | ravel5184: So <IOB> is <notyetagm>! :) |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: Alekhine's Defence was originally a work of art by Marcel Duchamp. He played it often but never pretended that it was an 'opening'. The ever-alert Dr Alekhine, with his legendary eye for the main chance, spotted its possibilities, especially against the kind of player who gets confused when a <STONKING GREAT PAWN CENTRE> refuses to win on its own. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <ravel5184> Aaaaargh. This may be perceived as the sort of Forum where "anything goes", but exposing sockpuppets is probably best left to others. In a sense we're all <notyetagm>. I am Spartacus. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <You cannot choose to disobey a law simpy ...> Who are you calling 'simpy'?? |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <I'm a celebrity sockpuppet - darn me> Baudrillard was right. It's all down to that <precession of simulacra>, innit? |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <mckmac>
"You're wanted at the Nickel game
They're saving you a seat.
I'm what I am, and what I am
Is back on Boogie Street."
If you won't listen to me, at least heed the Oracle of Mount Baldy. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: only 33 to go... and you've been up for 50 hours in a row, by my calculations. Bloody good show! |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <jess> Thanks, but I've decided to stay with the "little people" for the time being. Class solidarity, old Erse superstitions, and the wish not to become another Trout Mask Replica -- all have played a part in my decision. Like, I'll happily post nonsense. Daresay you've noticed this. But there is some sheet I will not eat. Didn't ee cummings say that?
So goodnight. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <valuable forum space > Heh. That's a new one. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <It was invented in 1920 by <Ed 1.e4 Nf6> True. Old Ed was a remarkable man. I met him during the War, when he was better known as Sir Edweard Bletchley Hyde Park Pawn to King Four Knight to King Bishop Three. Did something hush-hush in the Waugh Department. First man to actually smash a computer with a hammer. I don't think Turing ever forgave him, although the computer in question was made of string. The stories I could tell. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: Of course even old Ed sold out in the end, accepting a seat in the house of Lords as Lord Alekhine of the Fence. As the current de facto leader of the ordinary folk here, I feel dangerously tempted to follow his example. My sacred trust to the little people wavers. My, how even the whiff of an AAA battery corrupts one. |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | Domdaniel: <Indian Hero>
"An Indian Hero is something to be
Inventing the zero
And cooking with ghee
If you want to be a hero
Put your Knight on f3."
(with apologies to the shade of John Lennon) |

| Aug-24-08 | | mack: <The argument that lawbreaking is wrong because it is unfair to others cannot apply in all cases, for it presupposes that others are keeping the law. It is only then that it is unfair; and consequently it would not be unfair to them, if they too were breaking the law. Therefore when enough people are breaking the law, either it is not wrong to break it or there will have to be some other reason for its being wrong.> My late third cousin, A.D. Woozley (1979) |
|
| Aug-24-08 | | ravel5184: <<ravel5184> Aaaaargh. This may be perceived as the sort of Forum where "anything goes", but exposing sockpuppets is probably best left to others.> I know! Didn't you see the <SMILEY (:))> at the end of my sentence? Geez! :) |
|
Aug-24-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: You forgot to read <Reggio Emillio 2007>'s smiley. In case you forgot to read his post too!!
heh |
|
Aug-25-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <mckmac>
I think you should consider refraining from posting obscenities and vulgar insults all over my friends' fora. Have you not understood that you are not welcome anywhere around this website? Learn some simple nettiquette and please stop posting insulting, obscene, personal attacks on people who do not want anything to do with you. I wish I'd saved the obscene rant you posted in my forum. I'm sorry I erased it because I'd like to send it to the adminstrators of this website. I sincerely hope that you are banned for life, the sooner the better. You should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourself.
|
|
Aug-25-08
 | | Domdaniel: *Vow of silence*, day one.
"The smiley is a useful weapon, but it points both ways". |
|
Aug-25-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom>
Sometimes the opposite of silence is called for.
Like during the <Anschluss>, for example. On the other hand, <Mum's the Word>! I live with my Mom, so I can confirm the veracity of the latter statement. As in, "Word to you Momma!"
Either way.
Mrs. Had enough of this lunacy and Blew the Whistle about 300 times last night to the administrators. I'm tired of being on the "wrong end of that particular stick" all the time. I'm hoping that others will be held to the same standard I've been held to. |
|
| Aug-25-08 | | Harvestman: Apropos of nothing:
"If the human brain was simple enough to understand, we'd be so simple we couldn't" |
|
Aug-25-08
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> -- <I'm hoping that others will be held to the same standard I've been held to.> That's the crux, isn't it?
It's also the reason that ex-jailbirds become rightwing neocons rather than woolly liberals. Unless they wuz innocent, of course. Don't let it bring you down.
I broke a vow of silence to say this. But I don't suppose anyone seriously imagined I'd be able to stick to it. The Frogspawn Charter says "hop it, evildoers". And <Honi Soit qui Mal y Pense> too.
But is <mckmcmcmcmcmc> doing actual *evil*, or just daffily disconnected from other folks and their feelings? I know, I know. "Fudge not lest ye be fudged".
PS. I spent a few hours today interviewing an artist about ways of skinning sharks and tanning their skin. True story. |
|
Aug-25-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> You didn't read what he posted in my forum. I should have saved it.
Suffice to say, I'd appreciate a little back up here. I almost got a lifetime ban sticking up for you over <Ed Trice>. I'd like a little reciprocation here.
Thanks. |
|
Aug-25-08
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> "I support you unequivocally". Unquote. And you're right, I didn't read what he wrote. I'm trusting your judgment, plus a few minor bits of evidence left lying around elsewhere. Mostly your judgment, though. |
