 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> you better watch your step buster or <Deffi> will threaten to sacrifice you to the Moon Goddess again... |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> is quite popular with the ladies here at Frogspawn... I wonder where that cloth eared bint <Mrs. Alekhine> has sloped off to? She better not be slouching towards Bethlehem |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> You're right. <click to upgrade> is the new spam. |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: JINX!!!!
<Dom> will you be watching <The Stamp Act v. Kowalchuk> tonight at the <Bilious Tournament of Fast Chess>? |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | whiteshark: <...like my Ra5 <(still dont understand it but I could not find anything better)>> I suspect it is a revolutionary search algorithm. :D |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | achieve: <Jess> <I don't want any more "updates" on my stinking software.> Nicely put. Same here... I had to "dig deep" in order to deal with a Windows Explorer 7, updated to version 8 (or something), recently. <Domdaniel: <Jess> You're right. <click to upgrade> is the new spam.> Yep, again. And then there's the stinking <remind me later> message that keeps popping up. Draining... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels the overactive Keyboard hating Accurate Analysis Elephant> Watch out-- the new "improved" search interfaces they are forcing down our throats are very difficult to figure out. Soon we will be forced to use them.
Of course we could turn our computers off, but then we couldn't watch free live chess. It's worth it, but for |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | achieve: Exactly... Money-wise it's sure worth it, and I don't hate <keyboards> per se... It's the up and up and upgrades... They supposedly "protect" you against intruders... how long?
|
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: But what happens when the protectors are the worst intruders? I stopped using <Norton Symentec> products because they kept shoving ads in my face and then when I tried to get rid of it I discovered that you had to download special software from the company just to get it off your hard drive. Unbelievable insolence. You can only get rid of it if THEY let you. Now I use a ¤·¤©¤©¤©.¤¤¤©¤©¤¸¤¸ Brand.
It's supplied by the School network so luckily I don't have to actually know anything about it. |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | achieve: <Jess> I have met a TOP class PC doctor, and he deserves the money I give him... I call him up free of charge and he helps me out with everything. He installed Panda protection, 29 bucks per year, NO ads, no questions... World of difference compared to Symantec's Norton. Highly recommended if you or anyone ever needs a good protection. |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | achieve: PS: You're right - I couldn't get rid of Norton too, but for a giant crash which forced me to completely erase everything on my hard disc. Otherwise it was not removable. The worst intruders imagineable indeed. |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Good evening
Did you gentleman enjoy <The Stamp Act v. Kowalchuk>? I watched the whole game and managed to hold my tongue. heh- another famous tournament win for <The Stamp Act>, and a victory for true chess players as opposed to snivelling <draw weasels> like Leko and, I'm sad to say these days, Anand. |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | Red October: it was an entertaining game |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dr. Euwe the Panda Loving Accurate Analysis Elephant> heh- who could resist <Panda Protection>? A good panda can save your life in the field. |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <HMS Defiance>
It was wonderfully exciting.
Both <Chipmunk> and <The Stamp Act> are fearsome chess predators. |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | achieve: heh - profoundly laughing here... Vintage Jess! Anand and Carlsen were likely "pre-arranged" draws, although (mostly) the first game did not signal that. |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | Domdaniel: Thanks for answering a 'security' question I didn't even ask, Jess and Niels. I have Symantec/Norton (pre-installed) on this machine, and I don't like it. Was planning to change to AVG like on my *other* other laptop ... and now you say I need de-install software? And the upgrade offers/requests/demands come thick and fast. More thick than fast. btw, is it true that <Magnetic Cyclotron> was world number one for a few nanoseconds? |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | Open Defence: I wonder if the anti virus companies wrote a few viruses and sent them out into cyber space in the very first place..... |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | Boomie: I've had good luck with McAfee security. I don't know if it's a hassle to remove but I've never wanted to which is a good sign. Occasionally they have to upload new virus definitions and such but it all happens in the background. I'm thinking of upgrading to Turbo Boomie v 3.4 but I'm not sure if I could keep up with him. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom>
Here is the <Snorton> Removal Tool. Notice how huffy this page is.
http://service1.symantec.com/Suppor... BTW, before you download their stinking tool--
First, go to your control panel=
Find the Norton program= Start deleting it--
After a certain stage in the process it will prompt you to download the actual removal tool. The whole process takes 45 minutes or more.
<Time Bomb>
Unfortunately, <McAfee> security, though unobtrusive and not huffy, doesn't actually work properly. It is the default security on a bunch of computer brands. When I had it, my Computer Repair man actually "snorted" when he saw it. He promptly cleaned my machine and told me to use the free AVG product. MC Coffee scores "low" on Virus Removal strength on the BLOGOSPHERE. Interestingly, the FREE "AVG" brand anti-viral consistently scores in the top five of all such tools. Also, the ZONE ALARM fire wall, also FREE, scores even higher than that when compared to all firewalls, including ones you pay for. <Norton-symentec> is worse than any virus. I hope their stock goes to 0.00 dollars tomorrow.
Mrs. Reads the "Blogosphere".
(the "Blogosphere," of course, isn't as impressive as it sounds. What it really means is that you just hit Google and look at the first 3 hits or so). |

Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tim> you better not be following me buster |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | Boomie: <JessieKim> I'm posting next to you. Does this bug you? I'm not touching you. Does that bug you? |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tim, Tim, Tim, See What's Become of Me> Hang on, I have to consult South Park's <sexual harrassment Panda> first. I've forgotten the precise rules, but as soon as I find them out I expect you to obey |
|
Sep-13-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tim> I don't want you to feel bad because you only have <McLaffing Stock> security.... After all, if you don't know about the viurses it doesn't detect, what's the harm? Mrs. Ostrich |
|
| Sep-13-08 | | Boomie: <Jess Plain Folk: MC Coffee scores "low" on Virus Removal strength on the BLOGOSPHERE.> My eyes glaze at the prospect. A lot of these bloggomorphs are company hacks planted to skew the discussions. I don't know what software is best and I'm blissed out on that. What I really want to know is where is that plane and tank in your header? Now that's interesting stuff. My guess on the tank is it's the Ronson Lighter Mark IV. |
