Dec-09-10 | | dakgootje: That's obvious. You boil in water, not milk. |

 | | Domdaniel: How could I call myself an icosatriphiliac if I wasn't familiaw with <Ex.23>? The firstfruit was an apple, right? So the LORD wanted people to use apples. It's in the Book of Jobs. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <That's obvious. You boil in water, not milk.> The KJV has "seethe", but I thought you seethe in anger, not milk. |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Domdaniel: According to Neil Young, you "See the lonely boy..." |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Domdaniel: User: Catfriend ... am I seeing double? |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Annie K.: <Dom> no, why? :) <Catfriend> used to be around my old board too, way back when. |
|
Dec-09-10 | | dakgootje: <but I thought you seethe in anger, not milk.> In all honesty, I barely seethe at all nowadays. Not in anger nor in milk either. Perhaps it is good for your skin though. Milk, not anger. That would be a revolution in beauty products, if anger got your a smooth skin. Ah, the possibilities. <The firstfruit was an apple, right?> I think it has only been called 'fruit'. Could've been bananas. Or watermelons. Or perhaps a special milk-fruit which made you angry - but was great for the skin at the same time. |

 | | Domdaniel: So, um, how many chessplaying feline-representing Israel-domiciled Auel fans fit in the back of a Tel Aviv taxi? The actual *style* is completely different, of course. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <That would be a revolution in beauty products, if anger got your a smooth skin. Ah, the possibilities.> Already done, it appears, in the 60's.

Dec-09-10 | | dakgootje: It's hard getting wealthy and famous when others think of your ideas first. |

Dec-09-10
 | | Annie K.: Heh. None - Kitty and I are both Haifa area chessplaying Auel fans. :p (And besides, his being an Auel fan was sortof my doing anyway...) Despite that, I only met him once. Nice kid. Damn smart, too. He should be something like 23 now. :) |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Domdaniel: <Annie> Yanno ... Shirl ... you're probably a *good* influence. Unlike me, of course. Getting people to read sad-funny books by paranoid old dopefiends with acute paronomasia. |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Annie K.: :) Well, key term here was "getting to <read>" - which is something I haven't done that much of recently. Therefore, you are a good influence. :) Oh, so you want to know how I liked Pynchon's IV. ;) Akshly, I quite liked it. I did mention, around chapter 4, how he was a bit heavy on the views and details? Well, he <is> a bit heavy on the, uh, views, and the um, details. ;p But he's really funny and clever. And the MC is very likeable. So most of the sub-plots don't really go anywhere... it's like the book is more a parody of the detective genre than an actual detective/action story, and I get the feeling its main point was more to convey an ambiance of the time and place. Which it does brilliantly. I like these glimpses into "other worlds" - wouldn't want to live there, but nice to visit. ;) |

 | | Domdaniel: Speaking of matters biblical, England could put together a pretty good team of evangelists: Luke McShane, Matthew Sadler, Mark Hebden and John Nunn. The Gospel according to Nigel is apocryphal. |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Domdaniel: They wouldn't really be so Pacificocentric as to start in 5.5 hours from now, would they? |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Annie K.: <Dom> dunno - they may be. :s So now you're thinking maybe you should have gotten some sleep in earlier? ;) |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Domdaniel: <Annie> I'm thinking *now* might be better, ackshly. |
|
Dec-09-10
 | | Annie K.: Well, 5 hours ain't much, but better late than never! ;) |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Domdaniel: They did. Hmpf. |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Annie K.: G'morning... or whatever time of day it is. Yawn. 62 to go? ;) |
|
Dec-10-10 | | dakgootje: The thing with these clues is.. the longer you try them, the more obscure the relation between the actual clue and what you are searching for. So in the end you will find a game which is vaguely related to the clue.. and it obviously is wrong :P |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Domdaniel: Sigh. I had the movie right in #3, checked for Hobson ... not Bach. It's going to be a frustrating coupla weeks... |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Open Defence: I am the ghost of Holiday Hunts Past...
fear me oh Ebenezer Clooze |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Annie K.: Uh... I recognized John Gielgud. :s :p
<It's going to be a frustrating coupla weeks...> Innaresting times, IOW. ;) |
|
Dec-10-10
 | | Domdaniel: Oh, *that* cartoon dog. I was stuck on Pluto and Psion. |
