 | | TheAlchemist: Oops, I just saw that it's in fact Jessica who's playing as Black, silly me :-) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Wow! Thanks for all the help, <Captain>! I knew <Botox Injection> played it, but clearly there are some more. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: No worries Captain I'm out of book from <CG.com> games anyway. <Tactic> has a GIANT BOOK at home that gave him <Qc2>, so he has a decisive edge here in preparation. I never played <Dutch> before, but I want to try all the openings in Correspondence, for fun. |
| Jun-22-07 | | Ragh: <jess>"Amazing" novelty it is.. may be, you are deviously eyeing g5/f6 squares with a knight sac. |
Jun-22-07
 | | TheAlchemist: <Jess> No problem, I'm not sure exactly why I started playing it in the first place, I guess all those potential kingside attacks lured me to it, and yet they (almost) never materialize in my games |
| Jun-22-07 | | Ragh: <11..Be6> in reply to your 11.Nbd2? |
| Jun-22-07 | | WBP: <Jess> I play the Dutch a lot as well, though lately I've been playing the Benoni more. Radjablov has some interesting games against the Leningrad Dutch wherein he plays a very early h4-5, and after N (on f6)xh5, he sacs the exchange (Rxh5) and gets an attack going. This must undoubtedly be an recognized line, but I'm too busy now to research it. <Karpava> I forgot that wonderful Games and Controversy collection you have! I saw it several months ago and looked at some of the games then. Wonderful stuff, and so glad you've archived it. I'm a big fan of your work! |

 | | TheAlchemist: <Re: the "Schinkmann saga"> You should search for it it in the "search kibitzing" section (click below), there were numerous jokes about in many places. Now that I look at it, some were by <Chopin> and <notsodeepthought>, I miss them, I wonder when (if) they'll be back. Search Kibitzing |

| Jun-22-07 | | WBP: <Brankat> <<MAJ> Your post brings back to memory good "old" days! There was such fun, totally hillarious> Yes, reading of these past epic enounters and characters who date well before my time on this site, I'm reminded of Edgar's words at the end of King Lear (actually given to Albany in the Quarto): "The oldest hath borne most: we that
are young
Shall never see so much, nor live so
long." |
| Jun-22-07 | | Ragh: <WBP> Nice reference to Edgar's pome there. Does that mean I am a veteran/old too compared to most of you. Never felt honored, until now, for having joined two years ago :) |
| Jun-22-07 | | samikd: <jessfish> <Qe6> I will be honest with you..things are looking a bit scary now. The whole reason for my moving the K to d8 instead of f8 was covering e8 with the Rook..but that may not be enough. But I will be ok ..don't worry :) |
| Jun-22-07 | | WBP: <Ragh> (Just looking in briefly) <Does that mean I am a veteran/old too compared to most of you. Never felt honored, until now, for having joined two years ago :)> Yes, you were there; we young 'uns can only listen to the oral history (actually "read"/"written" is correct, as we're not actually speaking to each other; but I like the idea of an oral history, as it suggests something remote and ancient) or study the remnant artifacts. "There were giants in those days..." |
| Jun-22-07 | | Tactic101: When are you going to play? I know, I know, I'm impatient... :) |
| Jun-22-07 | | Tactic101: Actually, the reasoning is simple. Qc2 forces you defend/retreat/exchange your powerful knight on e4. Defending with d5 transposes into a Stonewall like position, but the factor that gives this Stonewall less bite is the fact that your good bishop (often pivotol to black's attacking chances) is traded off, leaving you with a bad bishop. Retreat is a loss of a tempo and take doesn't look that good either. Put that all together (particurly the first one) and you get Qc2. |
| Jun-22-07 | | brankat: <jessica> I've posted some amusing quotes in my forum. It's a start. For Your Majesty's entertainment! |
Jun-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> <d5> Hey! Thanks for the move, man. I don't know a <Stonewall> from a <hole in the ground>, so feel free to keep feeding me juicy moves!! <d5> looks particularly tasty. Prepare to be basted, then fried. |
Jun-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Branko> hilarious stuff! <bufon> was of course a rabid <topalov> fan. And <DraWWnickke NO!!> was one of his favorite sayings. |
| Jun-22-07 | | Tactic101: I'm gonna first knock my development out of the way. e3. I'll build up depending what you choose. I sense a tough fight ahead.... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Sammy King>
<Qf3>
Told ya. Now, Queen goes left, Queen goes right...
I'm sorry, but all of your moves will be forced from here on in. And I'm NEVER moving that bishop. Even if it costs me the game. Whee |
Jun-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> <o-o>, naturally. hey! Your pawn structure looks like a little hat!!
I like this <Dutch> business. Looks like I got a lotta space to work in here. |
Jun-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ragh> please be patient, I need to make a proper plan in our game. I'll give you your move tomorrow at the latest.
| Jun-22-07 | | Tactic101: Time to bring the last minor piece into the game. Bd3. |
Jun-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> you sure you mean <Bd3>? Not <Be2>? <Bd3> locks in your bishop. My Knight's never, ever going to move. He's just going to sit there. I gave him a big feedbag full of oats. I'll wait till you confirm <Bd3> before I move again, just in case there was another typo. Just in case. |
| Jun-22-07 | | Tactic101: Most certainly not a typo. Bd3 is still the best square for the bishop. There are some ideas I have which make Bd3 fine. |
Jun-22-07
