 | | jessicafischerqueen: Well I hope so but it will probably take me a coupla weeks to learn how to speak <South Korean>. I heard they have a different word for everything! |
|
| Aug-08-07 | | achieve: Don't worry about that. I put a nice quote up over at my place.. G'night for now. |

<I blessed them UNAWARES> (plural) heh |
|
| Aug-09-07 | | WBP: Hey <Jess> I happen to be online now, and see you're up. Mucho good luck in Korea. Keep us all posted! I think you'll learn S. Korean very quickly! And they'll be learning from you! What are you going to teach? Literature? Essays? Chess? Any opr all of the above? Remember: Joyce was a teacher, too, and look where it got him! (Pound taught as well, as I recall, as did Al Capone.) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Bill!>
I teach them <grandma>, I think. But once I get a <captive audience> I imagine I'll be teaching them <anything I damn well please>. My first lesson plan will be all about the <Mighty Negev Desert>, one of Canada's <greatest natural wonders>. |

| Aug-09-07 | | Ed Trice: Jessica,
There is an opening called the Slug Gambit Declined. By refusing to allow the slower player to give up the pawn, his development speeds up, but since the player is tactically weak, this helps his opponent! So, in the Slug Gambit, that poor player must give up the pawn for slower development, and he lasts longer, since it postpones the tactical mistake he will inevitably make. Understand now?

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Mr. Trice>!!
Very good to know you have a sense of humor.
I take it you read <Eyal's> post about the <slug opening>? <4. <Eyal>, ruminating on chess openings: <What a pity there's no slug opening! (at least as far as I know). Though I suppose it would hardly be inspiring - "In the slug gambit Black sacrifices a pawn and in return gets some <<<<very slow development...">>>> LOL!! --- > <Eyal> is a brilliant chess player and very funny poster. Welcome to the <Nut House> Ed! |

| Aug-09-07 | | BishopofBlunder: Dear Jessica,
How long will you be in <South K>?Worry not, we shall keep the home fire burning here in your forum. A little tip: Stay away from the Americans (nothin' but trouble, those ones). |
|
| Aug-09-07 | | BishopofBlunder: Oh, and do me a little favor. Be safe and make it back here soon. I have grown rather fond of you in the short time of our aquaintance. You're like the daughter I never wanted... Here is my email address: marksblunder@yahoo.com
I would love to hear from you while you are there (or anytime for that matter). However, I am very slow at answering email, so please have patience with me while waiting for a response. Your fiend,
<Da Bishop> |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <My Dear Bishop> thanks for your extravagant humor!! I shall certainly stay in touch, but I probably won't be posting 10,000 times a month once I have a <real job> if I manage to haul my ass over there in time to actually start working. I have to get my VISA in time or it's all KAPUT.
(crosses fingers) |
|
| Aug-09-07 | | cotdt: you're going to south korea? what for? |

Aug-09-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hi <cotdt> thanks for dropping by. I applied for the job of <President for life> of <Korea>, but I can't accept the position without a VISA. I'm waiting for the go-ahead on my VISA application to come through or I can't go. |
|
| Aug-09-07 | | Eyal: Hey Jess, can you sign in the box for a moment? |
|
Aug-09-07

|
| Aug-09-07 | | Ed Trice: <jessicafischerqueen> I see you are one of those Canadian-type of people. Canadians. I can't figure them out. They say Columbus discovered America, but why the HECK couldn't you guys moves your lazy butts south and beat him to the punch? :) Anyway, another little known tidbit is that I helped, in some barely measurable way, with the Canadian researcher's solving the game of checkers that was announced a few weeks ago. See this link for example:

And, Jess, don't you wish you had legs like these:

| Aug-09-07 | | WBP: <Jess> As a goof, I just googled <WBP> to see how it owuld come up and--surprise!--there's a somewhat radical Canadain political party by that name, standing for <Western Block Party>. Its aim is liberation for the western provinces of Canada which they feel is ignored or dominated by the more powerful eastern provinces. Who knew! |
|
| Aug-09-07 | | Eyal: <WBP> It also stands for <Women’s Bioethics Project>, <Wildlife Biology in Practice>, and <Weather and Boil Proof>! |
|
Aug-09-07
 | | Domdaniel: Yo, yer maj. Got my brother, the one who still uses air travel, to check out Korea. As of now, it's cool. Eh, could you possibly ask your nice erudite friend Mr Trice not to mention slugs in my presence? The queasiness factor is significant. Also, you don't want to give those inventive Koreans any recipe ideas. |
|
Aug-09-07
 | | Domdaniel: <WBP> Why Bother Posting? You know what they say: Bill Posters will be prosecuted. Should that have a comma after 'Bill', Bill?
The rest is silence. Mostly. |
|
Aug-09-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Heh thanks <Dominus>!! I never do anything without the <Dominus Family Seal of Approval>. What' it like having a <seal> in the family? Must cost you a fortune in <herring>! |
|
Aug-09-07
 | | Domdaniel: Nah, yer maj, I'm a bit hard of herring.
But I can still see the whiting on the wall, thank Cod. |
