jessicafischerqueen: Yikes <Doctor> i THINK my brain won't take any more effort today.

So Instead of playing my Yahoo games tomorrow I'll redo the first exercise with Shreddy on 18 ply (it has no trouble getting to this in one minute-- I had it set for lower ply on the first two attempts).

So that will be my first Chess task tomorrow.

Morphette of the knocking her brains out studying with the very tough <Dr. Max Euwe and his nefarious secretary Dr. Lars Euwe>

Dec-22-07  achieve: <Jess> The position after 10. Rd2+ Ke5 is a Draw -- the black ♔ just needs to cruise f5, f6 g6 etc. and the forcing h4 to break up the pawns doesn't work either...

Great work on the Bs mate - will have a look after breakfast...

The trick is to start with the Bs for specific reasons-- you may want to give that a try... ( B-g2 + B-b2 foll. by occupying the center and THEN bring in the white ♔...

jessicafischerqueen: Hmmm... what should I have for dinner now?

I KNOW!!

Korean food!!

HAHAHAHA

sigh

arooooo

Dec-22-07  achieve: AHA!!! Part of the problem is solved!!

Ok rest up- it's obviously well deserved...

Centralizing the Bs in the mate may be fun later though...

I'll provide you some more info on that later.

Am I tough? Good.. I get down and dirty when it comes to these matters... 100% effort! Kidding a bit coz taking your time and resting up is VITAL of course...

Now I have some work to do on your gamescores...

  jessicafischerqueen: JINX!!

Why not enjoy some tasty Korean food for breakfast, and I'll try to find a <Dutch restaurant> here?

Sigh.

There aren't any!!!

Awhacka

Dec-22-07  achieve: PS we jinxed a few times so I wrote the posts while you had already added another one just before mine etc.. It reads a bit funny now...

jessicafischerqueen: Heh I know <coach> my PC doens't seem to have any "lag" time so your posts come in instantly...

Hope to gab with you after dinner!!

I'm going to watch some <chess videos> for "entertainment" purposes while I eat dinner...

I will "relax" by watching a few gruesome horror movies and going for a long frosty walk-- it's sunny here for the LAST THREE MONTHS.

I kind of like it. It's like living at the Noth Pole during the summer.

Plus I like cold weather.

I'll be checking in for gossip and chess talk throughout the night....

Next Saturday is the end of term and the whole school is going to an expensive resort for the day and we get to eat LOBSTER and every single one of the teachers gets roaring drunk (except me).

Heh.

Then I have a WHOLE WEEK OFF-- I'll be hanging with my friends in <Daegu>, dancing, gabbing, shopping, and of course--

STUDYING CHESS with the World Champion <Dr. Niels Euwe>...

Then it's just 6 hours a week teaching untl Feb. 11 so I'll have TONS of time to study chess....

I'm REALLY wanting to break through from a 1800 Yahoo player to a 2000 level Yahoo player...

Also, My correspondence rating at <letsplaychess> is still at a gaudy 2000+....

But I've only played 4 "rated" games (all wins) and apparently it takes <fifty games> for the "ratings calculation" to give a sensible number...

The big "tournament" is unrated...

Wow you know, <ratings> really are accurate-- I predicted my score in the tourney would be 2.0 out of a possible 6.0 and it's shaping up that way.

I've lost one to <Kingscrusher> and he's slowly crushing me in the second...

<Canstein> is crushing me in a Sicilian but I'm holding my own on move 20 in a Reti with him....

But I'm kickind <jrobichess>, the only player rated lower than me, all over he chessboard in both our games.

Aroooo whackcalkakdj

Dec-22-07  achieve: YO! HI! HO! Same weather here!

I left a note at my place- and will now go outside for an hour or so...

Catcha later buster!

  jessicafischerqueen: Doper met mushroom?

Heh.

get it?

AHHAHAHAH

sigh. I wish I knew Dutch language.

Dec-23-07  achieve: <Jess> Dutch is a cool language... <Majnu>'s early vids are in Dutch- have you listened to them? He speaks it very well- hardly a foreign accent. I think his first 6 clips or so are in Dutch, after which he switched to English with a twist, to accomodate the international viewers...

And the short clips of little baby <majnu> are quite endearing...

I decided last hight that I will go and visit the Max Euwe centre soon and check out their liberry for some top quality books with excercises. It's right here in Amsterdam! It's been ages since I last went overthere-- I used to hang out there regularly as a kid... It's a blessing it still exists, really, but the Euwe Foundation has a few patron-saints I believe... I think you'd love it there! A "square" in the beautiful centre was named after Euwe!

Our working together has really inspired me! Although working for six hours straight yesterday had me passed out on my giant sofa after the walk...

Will report with EMU soon.

Regards,
EuweFanLookalike

Dec-23-07  achieve: I found this priceless link to all the games played in Holland, ever...

http://www.maxeuwe.nl/frameset/fram...

It's from the Max Euwe Centrum website... Mostly Dutch, but this Database search function/page is in English, as far as I can see now...

From this page click "bibliotheek" above in the menu... Then click on the small digit "3" (placed within a small square)

This is the entrance to the "DutchBase"

Copy/pasted from that page:

"The aim of DutchBase is to be a comprehensive database of games played in important chess events in The Netherlands. The idea for a Website like this comes from John Saunders, who started his BritBase in 1997. Several other national chess databases can now be found on the Web, and Holland, having played an important role in the chess world, could not stay behind. DutchBase strives for quality rather than quantity. All the games in the files on this site have been checked, and the player names are given with as much detail as possible."

It's a goldmine!!

I'm going in!

DIVE DIVE.....

Dec-23-07  achieve: IT WORKS !! I transported the entire file from Dutchbase/Scheveningen 1913 to Shredder and have all the games' PGNs at the touch of a button now!

As an analysis tool this is priceless!

Dec-24-07  Open Defence: Merry Christmas <Jess> it must be Christmas already in Korea!!
Dec-24-07  achieve: Same to you <Jess>!

I just had the secretary of the MEC on the phone - the M. Euwe Centrum is still going strong- and they have a liberry containing over 10,000 books on Chess!

They are closed today, but thursday I have planned to go there and nose around and copying some excercises even, maybe... All the books have to stay inside the building but copying is allowed! heh

It's only 20 minutes away from my house!

The EMU with some well thought through comments (no evals or anything - only positional and stratagical insights) is in the making -- and since you are busy until the weekend I will send it coming Friday.

Best wishes for the Holiday Season from me and Lars!
