  jessicafischerqueen: Hi <hoodrobin>!

Lake Como estai?

(don't worry about your English since I can't speak any Italian).

BASTA!

heh.

OK to answer the questions:

1.The image is a model (not me) that <User: chessmoron> found on the web, after a round of "police sketch" information exchange.

2. I can't post a bigger image, I don't know how even. You could ask <chessmoron> I suppose.

3.There is no question 3.

4. Oh my avatar image is <Marie Antoinette> and apparently the artist is quite brilliant. There is a discussion of the artist 2-3 pages back in my forum. I don't know anything about art, however. I like that russian guy who used all the rainbow colors... French maybe.. Marc Chagall! Yes I like him.

Welcome to my house!!

Most of the people here are insane so don't be put off.

Be prepared, however...

jessicafischerqueen: Sorry <Joe> it's the pedant in me. I just had to let folks know that we North Americans also use the idiom in question.

then when I started explaining, I was unable to refrain from getting silly.

Again.

Dec-31-07  hoodrobin: <JFK> Lake Como estas bien. We've got George Clooney. He's got a lot of coffee (on TV). Thanks for <explanades>: I had a suspicion it was Marie Antoinette. I guess I'll find the image on the web. TYVM and AHNY to you!

PS: Does Marie Antoinette look like you?

Dec-31-07  hoodrobin: <jessicafischerqueen> I found the image. So you got her head ... brrr ...
Dec-31-07  evenua: Hey Jess,

You got the point - we use the same word (sa gwa) for both "apple" and "apology". However, you don't actually use this word to say "I'm sorry" - just as you don't use the word "apology" itself very often, in the same situation. In that case, you just go by saying "mi an hae yo". This is a must-know phrase. :)

So, back to your last question, which is not very likely to happen but still interesting, I'd say "nae ga sa gwa ra seo mi an hae yo" or sth like that. This phrase, however, has been never spoken nor heard in my life so far. :P

  jessicafischerqueen: Heh thanks <evenua>!

Koreans are happy I'm trying to learn, but secretly they like to hear me speak incorrectly.

(sentiments about foreigners are very "delicate" in this country, as you well know).

jessicafischerqueen: Ok you heard it here first and I'll put money on it.

<Philip Seymour Hoffman> gets the Academy Award for <best supporting actor> for his INCREDIBLE work in <Charlie Wilson's War>.

<Tom Hanks> will be nominated for <best actor> from the same film, but he won't win since he's aready won before.

Jess of the sees all the big movies before they come out on secret <streaming video sites>.

Dec-31-07  Benzol: <Jess> A happy nude dear to you too.

:)

The answer to the cryptic verse is a guy who originally called himself Timon. These days I think he goes by the name Tymon Dogg. The words are from a song called "And now she says she's young". Justin Hayward of Moody Blues fame was the producer on it.

jessicafischerqueen: Ah! We don't know about Timon in Canada.

We know about <The Strawbs>, though.

Dec-31-07  Benzol: I know a little bit about Rush. Like the album 2112. Was the track "The Camra Eye" from that album? Genesis was the band that did "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" wasn't it? And did Timothy Leary get famous from "Legend Of A Mind" or did he help make the song famous? I don't know which. As for King Crimson I really liked the "Discipline" album and a latter track "Three Of A Perfect Pair".

They make a study in dispair, three of a perfect pair.

Dec-31-07

jessicafischerqueen: Heh thanks for the <timon> link Cappin!

Hi <Benzol> I don't think <Rush> qualifies as "prog rock", but only cuz it's from Canada rather than England.

<Robert Fripp> from <King Crimson> (really he IS King Crimson> is pretty smart. People who like Brian Eno or David Bowie genrally like <Frippy>.

Yes <Three ofa perfect pair> in particular is a good record.

and yes <Lamb> is from the last <Genisis> record with <Peter Gabriel> on it.

My friend <Jim> in MOntreal was a Prog Rock fanatic which is how I know aobut it. He used to play me the records and then double over with laughter about how silly the lyrics were, but secretly he liked the music.

The <Timon of Athens> song reminds me of <Yes>. Has a kind of innocence that cuts through the Kitsch.
