Aug-26-08  Duck McCluck: But seriously, I'll come out of character and say that as a guy, I can't understand your frustration in dealing with this person, but I really do hope you feel better about all this in a few days. I hope you're able to resolve this and move on.
Aug-26-08  Open Defence: <Jess> don't worry at all, we are all behind you, just make a formal complaint to the admins

Domdaniel: <Jess> I second what <St Deffi the Wise> says. And also the words of the Good Cat about everything being alright.

I think this is the 10,000th, btw. Where else could I put it but here? Now I'm in the House of Lords too, I guess.

Remember - we talk about "messages left in our houses" but these are just metaphors. You're as safe as, well, houses. Really.

Be well, okay?

jessicafischerqueen: Well I really can't thank all of you enough you know.

I've been sending <mckmac's> most flagrant and obscene insults to the Administrators from the very first one he posted in my forum. For days and days in fact.

However, it wasn't until a bunch of you added your voices to mine that action was taken.

So <mckmac> is in the "penalty loop" now, and me and <Dom> can tell you that it's "stern but fair."

It's great because if you don't knuckle under and obey they suspend you and then ban you.

So thanks to all of you, especially those who sent messages to the Administrators.

The "big cheese" just sent me an email and he just sat down to read <mckmac's> recent posting history last night.

He was MORE appalled than me, and used STRONGER LANGUAGE to characterize the case than me.

I'm very glad to know that the admins are willing to hold others to the same standard they held me and <Dom>.

But I'm more glad to know you all came to help me.

Mrs. Very Relieved now.

  jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Scrooge McDuck>!

I enjoyed your comic for many years. Who knew one day you would leave me such a kind personal message!!

I particularly liked the episode where you guys went to Egypt and the Pyramids.

jessicafischerqueen: ON the subject of posting statistics, apparently a full time job caused me to make 4020 fewer posts this year.

Looks like I'll have to devote more of my school work day to CG.com.

PLus I will never catch <MannBee>, as he insists on posting instead of waiting for me to catch up.

Well he has super BEE powers, so I shouldn't be surprised.

sigh

Aug-26-08  Mrs. Alekhine: Look at all the trouble you are causing.

Nattering busybody.

Aug-26-08  Open Defence: another place for some chess discussion probably, the newest patzer to have a player page here

Domdaniel: I think I know that 'patzer' and she ain't no patzer.

If there was some way to set her on that McCarthy person with his 300-year-old Four Queens variation, she'd rip him to shreds.

Maybe one day CG will enable these virtual matches.

Aug-26-08  Open Defence: <Domo> you would bungee-castle or King-horse your way out of trouble for sure :)
Aug-26-08  brankat: <jess> I have also received a very kind reply from Daniel (not Dom, the other one, :-)). Things will be OK.

So, relax and keep up the nattering!

Aug-26-08  notyetagm: Kramnik played a -stupendous- tactical idea today to win a piece with a <PETITE COMBINAISON>.

Kramnik vs E Alekseev, 2008

38 ... ♖f7-b7?

click for larger view

Here Kramnik (White) played an incredible <DESPERADO> idea, 39 ♖g6-h6+!.

39 ♖g6-h6+! <desperado>

click for larger view

The tactical point is that Kramnik will lose his White g6-rook when he takes the Black b7-rook with ♖b6x♖b7+. <<<So he sells the life of the White g6-rook for as much as possible: since Black is going to take it anyway, he gives up the White g6-rook but makes Black accept a <LOOSE PIECE> in exchange for it after 39 ... ♗f4x♖h6 !>

Just brilliant! I have never before seen the idea of a <DESPERADO> simply to make a <LOOSE PIECE> like this.

Then Kramnik later won the <LOOSE> Black h6-bishop that was created by his brilliant <DESPERADO> 39 ♖g6-h6+! with the simple <SKEWER> 41 ♖b7-b6+ 1-0.

41 ♖b7-b6+ <skewer> 1-0

click for larger view

And before everyone says how obvious this is, please note that 2700-rated Alekseev completely overlooked this possibility when he played 38 ... ♖f7-b7?. I know, I know, he missed a <CHECK> but that happens when you are playing chess and not solving puzzles.

jessicafischerqueen: <Dom and HMS Defiance>: MORE OPENING THEORY MOTES

Also, don't forget the startling <8...Kh9> in the <Smeets-Mikenas Attack in the English-French Transposition of the Admiral Halsey line of the King's Queen (old line with 4.Nf3-g1?)> Invented by <GM Brigadier Major Smeets> in his infamous match with <Professor Bumblebee> (Knotts, 1898), during which both contestants took a long time to move.

This startling <PROPHYLACTIC> was only apparently refuted by <Open Defence> in her <Imaginary Correspondnce Match with JFQ> during which she managed to change genders and thus win.

Not sure how that worked actually, but the decisive game WAS in fact <ARBITED> by <Boomie> and can be viewed in its entirety at <Open Defence> forum for the Vegas Chess Stars.

Ok I forgot the point now.

Oh Yes!

The "move."

<Open Defence's> refutation of the line was in turn "re-refuted" by <Hideous Nakamura> during the 2008 Tournament of the Vegas Chess stars.

Today, this august line enjoys such contemporary afficinados as <GM Evgeny Gashimov> and <a couple of guys who play on my street corner for fivers>.

Ok further feedback welcome. I'm very interested in "The history of Opening Theory."

Aug-26-08  Open Defence: <Jess> awaiting your entrance at the new party place :)
Aug-26-08  achieve: <Jess> Glad DFTSM finally got to it.

It is indeed very fair.

My belated voice of support for u ,JFQ.

insult, harassment, name calling etc. is very bad (because of such things on cg.com, i am retiring from cg.com - just winding down)

yeah and another great example was when CG deleted a series of 10 obscene insults that <angslo> directed at me. after this the admin also asked him if he is aware that he broke the rules and he had to say: "yes i realise that i broke the rules". then CG asked him if he plans to do this again and <angslo> replied: "no, i promise i won't do this again".
