BLOODY GOOD SHOW!!>

Oh my oh my! I can't b-r-e-a-t-h must come up for air... <Gasping> (hint: Mal drink some water!).

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

jessicafischerqueen: <Accurate Blue Elephant of the Strong Opinions>....

JINX of a sort...

I'm afraid I just blew another <anti computer> gasket at the <Woodstock Festival of Trying to Beat Ourselves> page...

And I just got back from <Mal's> and saw you have opened up a rather large <can of whup ass> yourself on a different topic.

My favorite line from your thread there:

<"that idiot Camponinones">

heh

HAHAHAAHAHAAH

OK that got me rolling around on my bed laughing.

I think you should record it as a <youtube> rant.

Mrs. Likes a good can of Whup Ass every so often.

Dec-06-08  achieve: <Jess> I must say it felt good writing it, though it was just the tip of the WHUPASS iceberg...

Lately I try to express some more of my FRUST, rather uncontrolled I must admit, but at least when it gets out, I feel better about it, coz I can see size, shape and (lack of) direction...

AND THEN WE ADJUST!!

Or open some more WhUPASS first, if necessary.

I read your computer rant, sounded and FELT good, which is the main thing...

Spassky will find out too, that the computer are merely tools in our hands which we can abuse, regarding learning chess, or USE as them as a tool.

But saying out loud <COMPUTERS ARE KILLING CHESS> - is definitely the best way to get things moving.

To find this out requires insight, intelligence and "thinking for yourself" -- which is ironically what those stupid engines lure us into NOT doing!

Thinking for your self, reasoning, understanding.

Good Show! (add some erythropoietine acc. to personal taste and preference)

Dec-06-08  Open Defence: I agree with your views on mere running of an engine in a chess game, dumbest thing ever, might as well set the engine to log onto playchess while we get drunk!

however I think you have seen I play a different brand of computer assisted chess and woe to them who rely merely on the computer :)

Dec-06-08  Zebra: <jessicafischerqueen: Well, Greco-Roman, technically, my dear <Sergenti-sweeping brindled ungulate>...

How is Asia treating you this fall?>

Oreganmanimnida, esteemed <JFQ>. Haven't made it as far as Asia - still stuck in Germany. Asia may be next stop though. You certainly seem to be enjoying it there.

Dec-06-08  malthrope: <JFQ: And I just got back from <Mal's> and saw you have opened up a rather large <can of whup ass> yourself on a different topic.>

Hahaha! Right Jess - Niels will deliver a large <can of whup ass> when you least expect it... He can strike anywhere at anytime! ~lol~

Anyway, I just thanked you both in my C-forum after I wrote the post on Woody's page. It was brief but hopefully all the important points were covered. :^)

My Best, - Mal

Dec-06-08  malthrope: Whoops forgot the PS: My post at Woody's place replying artistically to your wonderful rant! <grin>

Penguin - Jess has that one already listed in her Profile. I gave it to her a few weeks back when I discovered it. ;) It's a great one too the most massive RJF photo gallery that I've ever seen! :^) - Mal

Dec-06-08  hms123: <OD> I was in Amsterdam in 1986 and as tolerant as I am of most things, I have to admit that I was astounded at some of what I encountered. I was accosted by people selling marijuana in the middle of the day in public places (I was not about to buy it from a stranger in a strange land where I didn't know the law and didn't want to have an expensive lesson in it).

That wasn't even close to what bothered me the most. Some of the "magazines" on public display were such that mere possesion of them in the US would get you hard time in the slammer.

I will say that it was a beautiful city with great art and great food (mostly Indonesian) and that I would go back in a heartbeat--and would certainly take Niels to dinner if I did. I would take you and jess and woody and boomie too but I doubt that any of you you would be there.

Dec-06-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <hms><I would take you and jess and woody and boomie too but I doubt that any of you you would be there.>

How very gracious of you.

Who knows, maybe a chance meeting a year and a day from now in a coffee shop near you...or at least near <elephant>

hahha

Dec-06-08  hms123: <woody> You never know about these things. The world is getting smaller by the day.

Dec-07-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ> A sad day in the game room...

I'm afraid <pyke> got too excited and jumped out of his bowl and onto a nearby frying pan!

What a way to go.... luckily we had enough chips to give him a good send off though!

Dec-07-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <You see, this is what happens when we start analyzing right to the end of the game on the 7th move.>

I think you raised a good point there <JFQ>, I have made an 'announcement' about it in the game room.

We need to focus on considering as many moves early on as possible, rather than a few lines very deeply.

hehe or we might miss the wood for the trees!

hahaha

Oh shoot me someone!

Dec-07-08  Woody Wood Pusher: You look great in that crown <JFQ>, very seasonal, where did you pick it up...and the jewels really bring out the cold....regal...disdain in your eyes......

I beg forgiveness Majesty....for of course, you are the new <Choosy Mover!>

Dec-08-08  malthrope: Jess - wrote you a posted note with diagram over at Woody's place. :)

Also, left you a very special present over there in my lengthy post...

<I dedicate this one to Jess (aka: Mrs. Very Happy Again)... :^)>

All the Best, - Mal
