jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

Apr-18-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <However- look at this- here is the "Main Line" 13 moves deep-

Do you all know this position? Would you like to play from here with the White pieces? Or the Black pieces?>

Is that the main line?

Doesn't look particularly pleasant for either side really.

I don't know very much about it <JFQ>, but I do know the whole idea is to get White to over-extend and then counter-attack.

So whenever I meet it in blitz I just do the very opposite of this and <never> push too far forward quickly.

Makes the opponent mad, and cuts out my need to learn any theory.

haha

Apr-19-09  Open Defence: question is there a good Pistyan ?

jessicafischerqueen: Heh- This one was pretty good.

Very strong field. Maybe <Efim Break Dance II- Electric Boogaloo's> greatest triumph.

Apr-19-09  Open Defence: In my OTB playing days there was a guy at the chess club I used to play at who would always play Alekhine's Defence to the King Pawn Opening, very annoying and since he was stronger than me he won almost every game.. so I started playing 1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Nd5 3.Nc3 which as it turned out annoyed him no end since he his traps and tricks were in the main lines it seems when he had to "play" he couldnt quite....

Domdaniel: <is there a good Pistyan ?> No.

*Bad Pistyan* is named after a therapeutic trend in the 1890s, which involved adding urine to bathwater. It cured piles ... of stuff ... allegedly. Thank Clapton, nobody does that anymore.

BTW, I fell asleep at an Eric Clapton 'gig' once. That song about saline eye secretions in paradise? Noxious.

Any comment about throwing the baby out with the bathwater would be in bad taste. Even by my usual low standards.

jessicafischerqueen: <Wood> yes I saw that--

(I'm keeping "under the radar" a bit- don't want to attract any attention-)

The Hoof always stomps twice.

Apr-20-09  Woody Wood Pusher: OK I hear you <JFQ>, fly the Moose in low to avoid detection, good plan!
Apr-20-09  madlydeeply: cheese uncle Jessie I'm going to have to find a game i'm actually proud of.

that's an interesting notion...pride in a chess game. do i have such a thing?

chessically I'm obsessed with non material compensation so if i'm up a few tempo I'll sac even if I don't see anything. I love when it works. It usually doesn't but I forget those games.

Maybe pride is something I've always lacked.

Hmm i do most of my musing at 7am
