 | | Domdaniel: <Pome, by Jem Casey, after M. Python> Your Majesty is ... *this*!
- Haw! Haw! A trifle flat?
A stream of bats ... bats' piss!
- Eh? What? We'll not have that!
I merely meant, your majesty
Ask Wilde - the fellow cadges tea.
- We'll not have that! |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Self-observation brings man to the realization of the necessity of self-change. And in observing himself a man notices that self-observation itself brings about certain changes in his inner processes. He begins to understand that self-observation is an instrument of self-change, a means of awakening.”
“A considerable percentage of the people we meet on the street are people who are empty inside, that is, they are actually already dead. It is fortunate for us that we do not see and do not know it. If we knew what a number of people are actually dead and what a number of these dead people govern our lives, we should go mad with horror.” “A ''sin'' is something which is not necessary.”
“Without struggle, no progress and no result. Every breaking of habit produces a change in the machine.” unstupidify “Laughter relieves us of superfluous energy, which, if it remained unused, might become negative, that is, poison. Laughter is the antidote.” “We must strive for freedom if we strive for self-knowledge. The task of self-knowledge and of further self-development is of such importance and seriousness, it demands such intensity of effort, that to attempt it any old way and amongst other things is impossible. The person who undertakes this task must put it first in his life, which is not so long that he can afford to squander it on trifles.” “Every ceremony or rite has a value if it is performed without alteration. A ceremony is a book in which a great deal is written. Anyone who understands can read it. One rite often contains more than a hundred books.” “A man is never the same for long. He is continually changing. He seldom remains the same even for half an hour.” -----George Gurdjieff |

"Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined and original manner possible." The price for seeking understanding is that one must be willing to tolerate ambiguities and accept one's own ignorance. Feynman said, "I can live with doubt and uncertainty. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong." >

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Dangerous Love
Shall I kiss you on the lips
And take your breast
And turn your hips
And shall I bend to
Your command
And be ravished by
Your armies
Dangerous love, dangerous love...
A willingness will make us free
Willingness to be unburdened
Willingness to take one step
----Andrew Sweeny
And throw these shackles
To the ground
Dangerous love, dangerous love...
Wild nights where
You are raving
In the day the
Slaves are building
Ships to find a way
Out of here
This world of death
This world of tears
Dangerous love, dangerous love....
Willingness will make us free
Willingness to be unburdened
Willingness to take one step
And throw these shackles
To the ground
Dangerous love, dangerous love...
Who will know the smallest raindrop
Who will know your feet of nectar
Who will know what can't be fathomed
This union of impossible beauty
Dangerous love, dangerous love...
Willingness will make us free
Willingness to be unburdened
Willingness to take one step and
Throw these shackles
To the ground
Dangerous love, dangerous love... |

| Jan-02-10 | | hms123: <jess> Terrific set of posts of the nature of science and of scientists. A write-up of an interview I did once started with "I could be wrong. These are the first words of the semester...." The point, as you have captured so well, being that you can't learn science, or do science, without a large dose of humility about your own infallibility. That doesn't mean that I think I am wrong in a specific case, but just that I have to keep an open mind about the possibility that I am wrong or else I will overlook something important because I have already closed my mind. You might ask: why have you closed your mind to magic, religion, etc.? Fair question, but the reason is Feynman's: I just don't think it's worth my time to bother about such things when there are more tractable problems to deal with. Maybe that's just "looking where the light is", but at some level that's all we can ever do. I don't think we can resolve this here--besides, it's Jess's forum and her call. Just my two cents. |

| Jan-02-10 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: Little Miss Dangerous> Lovely song and images.
Nosferatu and Gurdjieff - Danger and Love.
The song could have been written and is sung in the style of Leonard Cohen. But really how can anyone write songs about relationships without reference to the three great songwriters on the subject: Dylan, Cohen, and Mitchell? Beautiful production by you. Thanks. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Scar on the Moon
A child is watching a scar on the moon
That once was a river
The child is watching a scar on the moon
He's holding a wild flower
And the child is riding
On the phantom train
In the land of thirst
He's starving to death
In a house full of food
A chicken head hangs in the air
And they pull out his eyes
And tear out his teeth
And tie him to a stone
And feast on his liver
And feast on his bones
The child of the river
To the end, to the end
To the end we must go
To the end of all reason
To the end of ourselves
With one naked thought
And one poison kiss
To the end, to the end
To the end, to the end
And the child is an orphan
The child is a stranger
The child is no more
But imbeciles born in sterile rooms
And black cocoons
And they're killing the pig
In the Capitol square,
And the pig is screaming
And there's blue angels every where
And a chicken head hangs on the ceiling
And the children are coming
And the phantom king's
Riding a pale horse
And the black lion roars
In the city of whores
And there's a scar on the moon
To the end, to the end
To the end we must go
To the end of all reason
To the end of ourselves
With one naked thought
With one poison kiss
To the end, to the end
To the end, to the end |

 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Zooks! That's the best of all. Reminds me a little of mid-70s John Cale, songs like *Guts* and *Fear is a Man's Best Friend* ... "Like that ancient teenage dream
Of soul to poison soul to poison soul"
"And the waster and the wasted
Get to look like one another
In the end
In the end ..." |

| Jan-02-10 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess! Nice video!! It took me several views and listens of your video to take it all in. Im not sure I understand it all but it is well made with more beautiful images and photos. I especially like the photo of the pond with the brilliantly colored flowers! Another interesting shot was the seemingly black and white sky and in color water and landscape. It was uplifting to watch it all and see the double rainbow! The most compelling shot was the Buddhist shrine and the image of the mans face on fire, as well as Jesus having a nail driven into his hand and also the praying hands with the word forgiveness on the side! I think you are saying however you find God wether through Christianity or Buddhism to live your life through Joy in your belief. Your video definitely fit the music you selected. Well done Jessica!! Maybe someone smarter than I needs to see it and let you know what it means to them. ; ) |
