 | | TheAlchemist: <Jess> Good evening (I think)! I was wondering about something, I've long since arranged the song "Hallelujah" (which as I remember is one of your favourites and mine as well) for myself and I used up 7 verses, which, as far as I know, nobody has done yet (maybe Cohen did sometime?). Anyway, the lyrics to both of Cohen's versions are: http://leonardcohenfiles.com/album8... (original) http://leonardcohenfiles.com/album1... (live)
And I've arranged them this way (based on both Cohen's and Cale's version): 1) I've heard there was a secret chord...
2) Your faith was strong, but you needed proof...
3) Baby, I've been here before...
4) There was a time you let me know...
5) You say I took the name in vain...
6) Maybe there's a God above...
7) I did my best, it wasn't much...
Would you have them arranged in any different way, perhaps? In particular the 5th one is a bit tricky to place. I have wondered why nobody has used them all so far. It makes the song even longer, which isn't really that bad (maybe not radio-friendly, though), but I guess everyone since 1991 was just copying Cale and later Buckley. |

| Jan-27-10 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess The Egoist R.T. is at it again. After I told WayneProudLove his "poetry" wasn't poetry, but instead was an excerpt of a short story, Ol' R.T. just published a snore-bore encyclopedic lecture on the invention & history of poetry. I was wondering Jess if an English Literature Professor like yourself could try to enlighten him. ; P |

| Jan-27-10 | | hms123: <jess> Good afternoon. I am trying to get on Korean time, so I have moved my classes to the after midnight slots. Classrooms are easy to come by at that time. Students less so. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Good evening.
I salute your vigor!
It's currently 2:30 AM "real time" and I'm wide awake, thanks watching the relaxing "Cannibal Holocaust." You may be interested to know that I snuck in to work today and convinced one of my friends to let me teach a couple of his classes. He was half-dead of exhaustion, like all other Koreans, so it was an easy sell. I was delighted to teach again- 60 days is too long a holiday and I'm not even half through it yet. I can speak Korean well enough to manage a classroom on my own now- which is very exciting, if a little improbable. I don't even know how I "learned" any Korean because I certainly didn't lift a finger to try to learn it. I don't do any work unless they force me.
Well Ok except for today.
Hit me back with an EMU if you're up and about and at loose ends. I take it your classes will begin a few hours previous to now? To be honest I found your last post here a bit confusing. J |
