| Oct-01-10 | | LIFE Master AJ: <And there is no <fast and furious> in chess history. Only slow and steady quality archiving.
That's what it is. That's what we want.
Isn't it?>
I agree, totally.
I think if you are going to try and take a turn at chess history, you have to try and quote as many sources as possible. (Normally I do, although a few times I have not met my own standards. Shame on me ...) But seriously. I do think any type of historical IS important ... and should only be attempted by those who are willing to give 110%! |

| Oct-01-10 | | LIFE Master AJ: As for Rubinstein, I have many works on him. I have both of Donaldsen's books, one by an older author, (Dover reprint); and I think I have one in German running around the partment someplace ... If someone needs me to, I could try and see if I could look any games up or post them here. (But always check ChessBase first! Their on-line database has millions of games!!!) |

| Oct-01-10 | | LIFE Master AJ: < Oct-01-10 <jessicafischerqueen:> Yes = thanks for asking. I am researching <Rubinstein> at the moment and still trying to learn how to use the new software I bought.
Thing is, the way I'm trying to make the videos now means that it will take a lot longer to finish each one.> That's all good, the more quality, the better.
Some people seemed dubious when I told them how long it took me to do one web page. Now you know - when you are really serious about a project - it can take a long time. (Research and/or analysis - often takes me MONTHS to complete! This is before I even begin the actual job of building the web page.) And every time I learn a new skill or try to master new software, that only adds even more time. |

| Oct-01-10 | | Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, here's a song that Paul recorded on his 3rd solo album wondering about his relationship with ex-Beatle John who were best friends until the death of their manager Brian Epstein in '67. That event forced The Beatles to fend for themselves in unchartered waters of big business dealings. That led to bickering & infighting about Beatle business decisions which deteriated their friendship. Dear Friend

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <USSR Spacebarmasters: I'm a much better player than you.> <Peter Zhadanov>! I'm honored to be visited by one of your more recent sockpuppets. Now that you are here, what's it like wearing an apron around your house? Does being a "debate expert" help when you get into arguments with your wife over which pair of your pants she wants to wear that day? |

| Oct-01-10 | | crawfb5: I was weeding through some old <Chess Life> issues and stumbled across an article on Rubinstein in the Dec 2002 issue. Have you seen it? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Big> No! Not to my knowledge. Is there any way you cut cut and paste and email it to me in the body of an EMU? This is good timing because I'm constructing as we speak. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> Aha!
So if I've got this straight, <Peter "I do the dishes" Zhadanov> doesn't even actually exist. He was one of your sockpuppets the whole time!
This has to go down as one of the most ingenious- and notorious- hoaxes since <Piltdown Man>. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oh wait you can't "cut and paste" real books.
Well I suppose you could, but that would only create an "arts and crafts" project. Possibly we should consult <H>. He is a known expert on "Crafts Fairs," whatever they are. Doh! Looks like I picked a bad millennium to be born into the Internet Generation. I just double checked my archives and I don't have any "e-issues" of <Chesslife>, but I do have dozens of "e-issues" of <Chess Today>. I'm not a professional chess historian, but I'm assuming these are different publications... |

| Oct-02-10 | | Travis Bickle: Thanks Jess for all the links and comments!
<jessicafischerqueen: "Got to be a joker cuz he's so hard to please..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1rZ... > I once seen a longer version of that Madison Square Garden Performance which after the song John Lennon admits, "I have to quit writing such daft lyrics I forgot the words". LOL Being a Beatle fan for so many years I know this was a message song written to Paul McCartney from John. There's a story to go with this. (Once when the Beatles were booked to record at Abbey Road Studio's for a session, John Lennon who arrived first was sitting on a stool looking ill. George Martin The Beatles record producer noticed how poorly Lennon looked and said why don't you go up to the roof and get some air. So John did. When the rest of The Beatles arrived they somehow realized that Lennon had taken the wrong medicine and had mistakingly dropped acid LOL! So the 3 Beatles run up to the roof so Lennon didn't take a leap thinking he could fly or something. ; P They then managed to bring John backed downstairs and the session was cancelled. Paul who was 1 of the last members in The Beatles to take LSD decided to trip with his best friend who was having a bad trip. Back At McCartney's appartment it was reported that John & Paul tripping stared into each others eyes and kept saying "I Know Man, I Know" for hours after which they both broke down and cried.) That's why I know this song was written to Paul by John, because it's called "I Know, I Know. ; P Jess what's interesting is Lennon uses Paul's riff to start the song with Paul's 'I've Got A Feeling', & also makes reference later in the tune to Paul's 'It's Getting Better' song. I know (I know)
