Nov-24-11  notyetagm: Aronian vs Svidler, 2011

What a brilliant win by Aronian, sacrificing a whole piece(!) in order to collect several <WEAK PAWNS> that his play had created.

Stupendous!

harrylime: Ok .. Heres' my game from last night.

Belper A v Chesterfield B and I'm Belper playing white...

1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.g3 g6 4.Bg2 Bg7 5.Nge2 d6 6.o-o Nf6 7.d4 cd 8.Nd4 o-o 9.Nb3 (Nc6 and e5 looked ok but my opponent was not young and I wanted to keep queens on the board) 9..Bg4 10.f3 Be6 11.Qe2 (Not sure this is the best) 11.. Ne5 12.Rd1 Qc8 13.Nd5 Re8 14.c3 ( I was happy now) 14.. b6 ( Even more so after this ) 15.Bg5 ( with threats on f6, but around this time my opponent became too defensive,tho I've yet to look at proper alternatives for him ) 15..Ned7 16.Qd2 Kh8 17.h3 ( spent a while on this because of the reply Ne5 and poss sacs on f3 ect..but it all seemed to be in whites favour) 17..Nc5 18.Kh2 ( Felt very comfortable now.) 18..Ng8 ( Quite happy to see moves like this played against me lol ) 19.Nd4 h6 20.Be3 Kh7 ( Black has spent much time faffing around without really setting me any problems ) 21.f4 Bd5 22.ed ( the hole on c6 looks very inviting now) 22..Nf6 23.Re1 Qa6 24.Bf1 Qb7 25.Bg2 Qa6 (My opponent offered a draw) 26.Bf1 Qb7 27.c4 Rac8 28.Bg2 a6 29.Rac1 Rc7 ( again moves I like to see lol ..I was expecting b5,but throughout this game my opponent shunned the opportunities for counterplay he had) 30.b4 Nd7 31.Nc6 Nb8 32.Qf2 ( around here I felt like RJF lol ) 32..Nfd7 ( Everyone was watching this game now, as the other's had all drawn,and the rest of the club was gathering around my table too ) 33.Bd4 Bd4 34.Qd4 Nf6 35.Re2 ( sacs on e7 did'nt seems to work for me at the time) 35..Kg8 36.Rce1 ( Qf6 lol .. but I was relaxing thinking this was over, a concentration thing I need to work on towards the end of the game ) 36..Kf8 37.Qf6 ef 38.Re8+ Kg7 39.Rb8 Qb8 40.Nb8 Rc4 41.Na6 1-0

So there you have it lol .. My opponent was too passive with his knights especially. Gave me too easy a time in the opening and became too negative in the middlegame.

jessicafischerqueen: Well I just finished backing up every single one of my chess files on to an external hard drive for "safekeeping" and it took almost 10 hours to complete the process.

Now I'm not sure what to do with the back up. Should I hide it in my freezer? Bury it in a hole somewhere?
