| Mar-21-11 | | achieve: <Jess> NEWS ALERT!
heh
I thought I'd take a chance on calling mister Seirawan himself and check on some of my observations etc. on Kasparov and spent some 15 minutes with him on the phone just now :-) Brief account of it in my forum!!
whoooohaaa
It's all in his book, 'Chess Duels' .... |

 | | Domdaniel: Greetings, Jess, yer maj. I was enjoying the stately pace of your Polish chess opus when I was taken aback - nay, rocked back on my over-protected heels - on hearing the line "a chess queen prefers *this* kind of man [cue: Tal] to *this* kind of man [cue: Petrosian]..." Oh, lordy. You haven't gone and fallen for the dashing, swashbuckling, romantic fallacy, have you? I know love is blind, but, hey, steady on, yer maj. The other kind of guys also have virtue. Unless you meant Latvians, of course.
And anyway, weren't heavy piece sacs in the corner a Petrosian speciality? your ever devoted subject,
Dom the wry-mouthed |
|
| Mar-21-11 | | Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, I answered you on my Forum. ; P |
|
Mar-21-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> it's not that I don't have respect for <Petrosyan>, and it's not even so much that I prefer <Tal's> playing style, though of course I do. It's much simpler than that.
<Tal> was hot looking. <Petrosian> was not. After all, the prize in the poem was which chessplayer got to marry the Princess. |
|
| Mar-21-11 | | dakgootje: Exactly the reason why I think Scarlett Johansson is the best female chess-player ever. |
|
| Mar-21-11 | | Travis Bickle: <dakgootje> Hey quit talking about my woman!! ; P http://www.realbollywood.com/news/u... |
|
| Mar-21-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jess I just thought of another great horror movie! It's creepy but also a little campy. 'The Abominable Dr. Phibes', starring Vincent Price! You have to see it at least once. I seen for the 1st time in the old Drive-ins they used to have. Dr. Phibes trailer

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <dak> that's clear thinking, but I'm afraid it's British Junior Chess Champion <Sheila Dines>: http://www.britishchess2010.com/pho... |
|
Mar-22-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> interesting link there to bollywood- I didn't know <Scarlett> was an Indian! I will begin <Phibes> operations immediately, based on your recommendation. |
|
| Mar-22-11 | | achieve: <Jess> just posted some added content of the conversation with Yasser :) |
|
| Mar-22-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jess when you get a chance come listen to this great song & video by Led Zeppelin! T-bone Steaks. ; P |
|
| Mar-22-11 | | fab4: Hi Jess, just letting you know I've sent you a couple of replies on YT, not sure how often you venture on there tho ,so may risk the Soviets and <Lennonfan> on this site by posting a few questions here.. I say may though lol.. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> I havta agree Tal was charismatic in the extreme (or "hot looking", in your delightful teen argot). Even when he was a raddled old gager like me, and looked like Nosferatu's depraved uncle after a hundred-year laudanum binge, he was still ultra-cool. The man, in fact. As for Uncle Tigran, well, looks ain't everything.
And I persist in liking the way that *both* of 'em played. Happy days. |
|
| Mar-22-11 | | fab4: Tal was a beautiful man in the 50's.. Beautiful chess too.. Sprinkle in the charisma.. and you've got a chess icon. |

 | | Penguincw: < jessicafischerqueen: That was part of a vicious spam war between me, <brankat>, and <chessmoron> to become the "Most Popular Forum" on the CG.com "statistics page". The war got so silly that CG.com just deleted the category. > There was a "Most Popular Forum" on the ChessGames.com Statistics Page page? Aww. Why did they have to delete it?They should of just kept it. :( |

 | | Domdaniel: <Peng> They got rid of it because people like me and Jess were filling our forums with any old rubbish. And some of us still are, seven or eight hundred pages later ... Try the *rule of three*: if you find you've posted three times in succession somewhere, stop and wait for somebody to reply. That way you get conversations. I know it won't appeal to one in as much of a hurry as you are, but really, it's better. The alternative is spamming. |

Ok.Now I feel like some users can tear the kibitzing parts on the ChessGames.com Statistics Page. |
|
Mar-23-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: My dear <Penguin>
Never fear!
You probably have the highest "chess to non-chess" ratios in posting history, so I wouldn't worry about numbers. Have at it man, I especially like reading about all the chess gambling. I'm too chicken to do it any more, I got tired of losing all my fake money. Embarrassing! |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Here is a chess documentary movie site:

| Mar-23-11 | | Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, have you ever seen the horror flick Re-Animator? Scary flick with a sense of humor! ; P Trailer for Re-Animator

|
| Mar-23-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jess I just remembered, if you like 'The Abominable Dr. Phibes', you may like the sequel, Dr. Phibes Rises Again. ; P Trailer

Mar-23-11
 | | Domdaniel: Some ideas for *non-horror* movies:
<The Nice Dr Phibes> -- A nice doctor is kind to his patients, who mostly survive. <Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde> -- A nice doctor and his girlfriend help the poor in London. <Frankenstein's Minster> -- A brilliant scientist harnesses electricity and uses it to build a church. <Dracula Rises> -- A nice Transylvanian count gets up in the morning and looks for people to be nice to. Hmmmm. |
|
| Mar-23-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jess you decide. On the early Beatles records the U.K. and American album releases had different playlists usually with The British versions having more songs on them. Rubber Soul's opening track on The U.K. version is a rocker and on The U.S. version an accoustic mood setter, because capitol records wanted to make The Beatles new album sound like the folk scene that was going on in America at that time with Bob Dylan & The Byrds.
