Apr-03-11  achieve: Fascinating interview with <Mark Taimanov>, having reached the respectable age of 85, addressing a variety of topics, including Bobby and how he had Fischer graciously admit that after 6 a score of 3.5-2.5 would have been fair...

http://www.chessintranslation.com/2...

-as can be read from this excerpt, a teaser trailer:

<After that encounter they took away my “Honoured Master of Sport of the USSR” title, banned me for some time from overseas trips and forbid me from being printed. The formal pretext for the punishment was supposed to be that the customs officers found a book by the then still Soviet writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn - “In the First Circle”. But, despite all that, I recall that encounter with Fischer with enormous pleasure. Yes, the sporting result was depressing, but I had no reason to be embarrassed by the content, the creative side of the games. [...]

But more than that, I’m glad that fate in general allowed me to play a match against that great grandmaster. I was also one of the last to have the chance to meet Robert Fischer at the chess board.

In 1992 I wrote a book with the title “I was a victim of Fischer”. I sent the first copy to Robert. His reaction was immediate: Fischer expressed his gratitude and said that he liked the book. (Izvestia)>

Ok I found the link. My bet doesn't go for another 15 hours yet.

I bet the Chinese girl against the Chinese boy, hoping she'd get an "underlay" due to sexism.

Hmm that didn't come out right did it ok brb

  jessicafischerqueen: <fab> hello!
My friend <hms123> just married a hot Spanish babe named Arriba!

And yes the exclamation mark is actually part of the name.

So if you shouted the name you'd have to type:

Arriba!!

Apr-03-11  LIFE Master AJ: Jess:

Got your nice e-mail. Still trying to figure out:

A.) If I really want to do a chess video. (So many good ones - like YOURS! - out there, maybe no need for me to do so.)

B.) What area of chess? Just analysis? Other people are doing that. If I do a video, I want it to be unique.

C.) My learning curve here is HUGE ... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apr-03-11  fab4: What a lovely explanation.. thank you ! (and now I know !)

Penguincw: < jessicafischerqueen: I am only 800 Chess Dollars US funds now. >

Next time, just say chessbucks for short. Also,800? If you bet 200,and loss, then bet 200 more, doesn't that mean you have 600 in funds? You might be confusing the two (funds and net worth).

Thanks, I thought it the best way to refer to one who appears to be the most literal person on earth.

For me, the funniest posts on the "Lennon Family Reality TV Show" on the Naka-Goldsby thread were from this well-meant chap who tried- patiently- and in vain- to explain to our hero what an "analogy" was.

You know <rogge> made a post some weeks ago suggesting that the administrators secretly like these flame wars because they "sell tickets" and increase site traffic at the website.

I'm a little skeptical, however, that "Lennon Fan" could be monetized outside of a context such as the Jerry Springer Show.

And in that case he'd only appear for an hour, instead of, apparently, forever.

Apr-04-11  fab4: Watched the shankland doc on the two 'k's and it was good.I like how it felt unrehearsed, and it was cool watching him feeliing his way around certain positions.. I don't think one can really have a 'greatest' move in chess.. well you can, but it's at the mercy of soooo many subjective criteria!

Shanks himself seems a big Gary fan... fair enough. But you would'nt expect me to agree with his choice tho would you?! lol

As for <LF>.. well viewing his posts and threads is like viewing a slow motion car crash.. a little scary and a little worrying.. and you want to look away. But can't.

He's seeting back the cause of theFabs like no other since 1970 I tell ya ! lol
