| Apr-25-11 | | hms123: <jess> And you would be right! Aagaard's Attacking Manual I is full of positions like this. I think you would really enjoy it. I bought both AM I and AM II but haven't looked at AM II yet. AM I is wonderful--well-written and full of good humour. |

| Apr-26-11 | | achieve: <Jess> good points on Whitney, (moving over to your place once again), and I wasn't particularly fond of her music as produced back in the 80s when I was "reasonably" interested in pop music. So... I thought to myself, "do I actually <have> one single CD of her?..." I checked, and the answer is no. Obviously I cherish the live performances (I have some on video) that on occasion mesmerized me, she's pure gold (potentially), as you said, but I never cared much for the heavily produced studio albums. I have two M Jackson albums, which is quite rare for me considering my hesitation to purchase Pop and "waste money." Anyhoo, I've got Sting, UB40, Prince (3x) and only a handful of others (Terence Trent D'Arby). That's it. The rest, which is quite moderate in number, is all good jazz and classical. Mostly vinyl records of which a portion I later copied to digital, which says something too. Good to see you prompted such forceful action by cg btw. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> yes that's a good list- 80s pop music, going by "super popular acts" like the ones you listed. <Prince> is one of those mega artists who enjoyed success with "the critics" as well as at the box office, and with good reason. Yes the admins are on the hunt and made short work of the second new <lennon fan> sock as well- as you once put it, they are "hard wired" to address problems that have to do with the IT end of their website. "hard wired"

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <fab4> the wind whistling over your keyboard sounds romantic- but never fear feeling lonely here at my forum. You are welcome with any and all opinions and observations on chess or any other matters. As I mentioned to you in our youtube conversations, I find you to be delightful company. |

| Apr-26-11 | | achieve: <Jess> I have Prince because he's musically head and shoulders above the rest, especially the Crystal Ball bootleg with an all acoustic CD (of 4 !!) which very few people have, limited edition it seemed, and Sting made two lovely classical albums, Fields Of Gold-Nothing but the Sun, and '10 Summoner's Tales', both hot tips if you haven't heard them, and Michael Jackson simply is the best singer dancer, entertainer, of the last quarter of the 20th C ... I felt obliged in the 80s to buy the BAD album, even though musically I am not that wild about MJ's albums. THIS IS THE THING... Same story repeating here, CD bad, video of Live concerts good. That's why I collected all my music on video, just recording it from telly, then copy to audiotape and Minidisc, prior to the CD burning era. In the 90s I rented all my mules, I mean music from a liberry in Rotterdam, and then copied everything asap, as I had to return them within a week... Also a form of stealing, heh So I don't have more than 60 original CDs I reckon... IS THAT WEIRD??
Less than the average number I reckon.
Ricky Lee Jones I bought an album of in the spur of the moment, very different type female singer songwriter I like, and one not many have heard of here. What HITS me while typing this otherwise boring post is that my by far overriding criterion is abilty to play, sing, brilliantly LIVE, preferably acoustic, as true master musicians. Tataaaaaaa |

Might instill fear in other men
But not in me, The Mighty Flea
Ask if I am mouse or man
The mirror squeaked, away I ran
He'll murder me in time for his tea
Does it bother me at all
My rival is Neanderthal, it makes me think
Perhaps I need a drink
IQ is no problem here
We won't be playing Scrabble for her hand I fear
I need that beer

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Not so <H> the Canucks have the Killer Whale in their logo. According to youtube, Killer Whale vs. Panther fights are currently scoring 100% Whales. However, type "Bear vs. Dolphin" in the search box and it's a different story. |

Bear v. Dolphin is +16 -0 =0

Interestingly, the Dolphins had Peanuts character <Pigpen> on quarterback in this one. It's a fact!
(really it is) |
