 | | Check It Out: I mean, Lynyrd Skynyrd was inducted in 2005! They've written a few good songs, Simple Man and Sweet Home Alabama, and even Freebird can get a mention, but that's about it. How are they more iconic than Deep Purple? |
|
| Dec-18-13 | | Jim Bartle: < How are they more iconic than Deep Purple?> They died tragically in their prime (some of them). A legend has grown around them. |

 | | perfidious: <Jim>: For a bizarre addendum to the death of Steve and Cassie Gaines, see the last paragraph of the following article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassi... |
|
| Dec-18-13 | | Travis Bickle: <Shams: <Travis> I think it's one of the strongest groups of inductees I can remember. Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt ("about @#$%* time" my departed father would say), KISS, Hall & Oates-- I can't argue against any of those choices. Nice work, Cleveland.> Shams I agree with you 100%! Especially about Linda Ronstadt who's backup band for a short time was The Eagles! |
|
| Dec-18-13 | | Travis Bickle: <Check It Out: I can't believe Cat Stevens and H&O got in before Deep Purple. Those guys have sold over 100 million records, are still touring, and somebody had to write that Smoke on the Water riff.
Not my favorite band to be sure but they definitely have been snubbed when bands like Guns n Roses, Heart, and Red Hot Chili Peppers are already in.> Agree with you 100% but I think Cat Stevens is a better choice than Hall & Oats. |

Santana at its best. Michael Shrieve on drums was the youngest performer at Woodstock and this was a terrific performance by him and the whole band. Carlos was tripping during their set. He said later he would never do that again...heh. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> LOL "seltzer bottle" good one. Brian Setzer is indeed a great Rock Billy Goat- I knew some of his work with the band "Cats and Dogs on the Roof" but I never heard that swinging "Jingle Bells" before. Here is a Big Band <Brian Seltzer Bottle> on Christmas with the jazz- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf1...
He sounds a bit like Frank Sinatra eh? Like Frank if "The Chairman Mao of the Board" could play wicked guitar too. That <Santana> track is great and I never hear that one before either. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Hanh> Thank you for "In Your Facebook" expose, and also thank you for the TOP SECRET sharing on "Gobble Plus."
hehe You are my one (1) friend linked on my "Gobble Plus." It was worth it to be forced to sign up just to be able to pass convenient TOP SECRET messages to each other. Appears "In Your Facebook" wants to become the "mind police" now. |

I'm a big fan of "Carlos the person" ever since I read the story about him in legendary rock promoter <Bill Grahams'> autobiography. Did you know that Santana had no money and nobody knew who he was, but he went to Bill's legendary San Francisco venue (The Filmore) every night begging to go on stage? Bill finally let him open for a few acts and Santana quickly became a local legend. But he was still broke so Bill let him live rent free in a tiny room above the ceiling of the venue, like the "Phantom of the Opera." <Bill Graham> wasn't just a superb judge of talent, he was also a mensch. |
|
| Dec-21-13 | | Jim Bartle: Graham was a real character. And always out front and visible. Santana did play many, many concerts around the Bay Area, as second or third billed, for a long time before recording an album. |

Only 3 shopping days left until Christmas.
RUN!!! |
|
| Dec-21-13 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, do you get days off for Christmas? if you do go to a motel miles away from "hammerjack city". If not there's always some good rock concerts & rock movies you can watch & listen! ; P Here some good noise you can listen to provided you have some excellent headphones, just for starters. Led Zeppelin @ Madison Square Garden!

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oh my <Christmas Travis> How did you find FULL LENGTH GIANT CONCERTS OF GREAT MUSIC! What a tremendous Christmas present. Your cunning plan worked perfectly. If I'm alone in my apartment, I just put one of these babies on the headphones now. I'm also downloading them all. My favorite is this <Pink Floyd> semi-reunion tour in Venice, with only Roger Waters missing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywu... What an amazing stage show they had eh?
It's also a bit sad because I think Richard Wright died not too long after this show, really young and it seems nobody is quite sure what he died of. |
|
| Dec-22-13 | | LIFE Master AJ: Merry Christmas to you!!!
Thanks for the note for <Col. Mort> you left in my forum. I have always felt it takes a big person to apologize and admit that you might have been wrong. I appreciate it, and even if he does not do so now, I am sure he will also. (eventually) God bless you - and have a safe and happy holiday. |
|
| Dec-22-13 | | Thanh Phan: Merry Christmas! I should get a calendar, lol
Found a Holiday Tradition Origins on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeaS... and because some days are just weird http://cheezburger.com/3338784256 |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: You too <AJ>!
And God bless your beautiful daughters, who I had the chance to see in photos you sent me. They look so happy. I expect they are excited for Christmas too. Will you give them a copy of Kotov's "Think Like a Grandmaster"? lol |
