Bill finally let him open for a few acts and Santana quickly became a local legend. But he was still broke so Bill let him live rent free in a tiny room above the ceiling of the venue, like the "Phantom of the Opera." <Bill Graham> wasn't just a superb judge of talent, he was also a mensch.
