<Bomba at the Movies>

Yes I think <Nosferatu> is underrated, and certainly the makeup and even the character and place names are faithful to <Murnau>, a director <Herzog> respected greatly.

There is a difference in philosophical approach- <Murnau> working within a German Expressionist sensibility but <Herzog> working, as always, from a German Romanticist sensibility.

Hence <Santa Klaus Kinski> becomes an individual tortured by his own doomed condition, who engenders considerable audience sympathy, as opposed to <Max Shreking Crew> playing Count Orlok as a straight up monstrosity who has no connection to the human world.

Again typical of <Wiener>, he frames outdoor shots in a painterly style that is strongly reminiscent of the great romantic artist <Caspar David Friedrich>. Less so than in <Herz aus Glaz>, but still clearly present.

saffuna: I had heard quite a bit about "Dark Glow of the Mountains," as the low-altitude cameraman was a good friend of mine and he told me things about about Messner and Herzog. Unfortutanately he just died too months ago.

I think that movie was about a climb of Nanga Parbat, but wherever it was, it's extremely difficult. The climber not only has to be think about climbing the mountains, but how he looks doing it.

<I think that movie was about a climb of Nanga Parbat>

lol no, <Jim>. I'm guessing you didn't click on the link yet?

If you watch the <Herzog> documentary called <In the Dark Glow of the Mountains> or <The Dark Glow of the Mountains>, which is the correct title according to Wiki- German title <Gasherbrum - Der Leuchtende Bergthen>- you'll see it's about climbing <Gasherbrum I and II> at the same time. Not at all aboot <Nanga Parbat>.

Wikipedia link to the documentary film, or "fillim" as I liked to say at uni wine and cheeses just to piss people off: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_D...

<Nanga Parbat> was the first Himalayan peak <Messner> climbed (Alpine style, and without oxygen of course), and his brother died on the same expedition. If you <actually ever watch> the "real" <Dark Glow of the Mountains>, you'll see Herzog interviewing Messner about this incident, and Messner bursts into tears.

This is much the best part of the movie, and testament to both Herzog as an interviewer and Messner as a man.

In my view anyhoo.

<Tbone> I saw <GRIZZLY MAN> three times so far and I think it might be the best documentary movie ever made. I couldn't make up my mind of the main character was super interesting or super annoying. Possibly he was both.

What did you think of this movie <tbon> amirite.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRh...

Dave is in fine, fine form on this to be sure. I think he's a genius and I can't get enough of him, thanks <trombone>!

May-02-17  User not found: Not just the aesthetically pleasing artistic chips, Jess. He's definitely Maradona like in that part of his game through for the striker, not be the number 9! I just wanted you to check these 4 quick goals to complete your exam, even though you've already passed with flying colours, lol..

Messi hatrick v Brazil https://youtu.be/_LZnEI16Lc8

See how lightening quick he is for the first two, brilliant through balls and he's off with clinical precision finishing that reminds of the great Brazilian forward Ronaldo. He's a 10... He's supposed to thread these balls through, he's a play maker first and foremost so it's pretty remarkable.. The 3rd he gets the ball 45-50 yards from goal and runs full pelt and.. Well check for yourself! He's got so much to his game I've never seen it in another footballer, all respect to Maradona and Zidane.

And this has everything.. It's when the commentator said "George Best, Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff.. You're all getting outshone by this incredible little man!". https://youtu.be/AmAmK6HlYAY

Genius. Jimbo... You're older than me and watch a lot of football.. Have you ever seen a player who's this fast, this skillful, this exciting to watch who scores 50+ goals a season and is so consistently outstanding year after year?

May-02-17  Travis Bickle: Jess, you have to see this Documentary. It's on Brian Wilson's follow up to Pet Sounds. The writing, turmoil & history of Brian Wilson's Masterpiece, SMILE! It was performed live in England with Paul McCartney in attendance who once told Brain Wilson Pet Sounds was best record he'd ever heard! It inspired the making of Sgt Pepper...

May-03-17  User not found: <I come on your forum to escape that foooker .. lol lol>

Isn't that eerily similar to your method of avoiding the pub?

<"Hey landlady. I come to your pub to escape alcohol... Gulp gulp?".>

I'm here Hazza, if you're jel jel just say so and I'll go convert <another person> to the church of Messi? It's an easy conversion, lol. And I don't know why you think I'm bald!? Ask Focus or Jay-B they've no doubt seen a picture of me on facebook..

And <PLEASE>..Stop the daytime drinking otherwise by tonight you'll have transformed into Jonny Halfcok threatening to kill everyone who posts in the cafe whilst challenging them to a $50 game of chess. lol lol lol ;)

May-03-17  User not found: <I try to AVOID your posts because I don't wanna get ALL Messy after you've finished wanking over Messi and OASIS ..>

Harry, please! At least use a different term for W-----g. No need for profanities in a female forum who's recently been born again and is now Messilim... But okay.I'll withdraw you from the Messi cheerleader fan club and not renew your Oasis fanzine subscription. Your loss lol lol lol.

<You tell <UNF> from me if I see the baldy fooker in person I will slap his head so hard he won't know whether Bradford City are in the Conference or league One ..>

Allow me to use a similar analogy as this jessicafischerqueen chessforum (kibitz #33434) it's directly above your last post and directly below your previous post, easy to miss I guess......In fact I can't be bothered! But I do predict an appearance from Jonny Havoc at some point in the evening. lol lol lol

Give me one meet ooooop with you ! lol lol

I'll slap your bald heid into Leeds ..

<Hozza> <Mazza>

Truce? We need a piece treaty because you guys are fighting all over my forum and also <Tbone's> forum.

IDEA. Why don't you lads get your own forums and then dedicate them to fighting each other.

Then you can post non-fighting material in other forums hosted by people, such as <Tbon> and myself, who welcome your posts, apprciate your posts, and enjoy reading your posts about music, football and other topics.

You won't need to fight in other forums then.

Or you could collaborate and both pay for a new forum- maybe called <CAGE MATCH>, and be co-administrators.

You might even get enough punters so that you could charge money for admission.

Here is an important message from someone I know you both respect:

May-03-17  User not found: C'mon Jess, I think I made my sarcastic best out of <another drunken situation>. I didn't insult him I told him what dozens tell him on the regular.. Don't drink, post, insult apologise.. Repeat x 108776578 just with a change of subject. Besides.. He's amusing in a way plus I only came here to talk football, don't really expect abuse here. Feel free to delete but at least acknowledge who started <and> finished this one..

<UHF> You wrote <at least acknowledge who started <and> finished this one..>

No, <UHF> I'm not going to do that, and I owe both you and <Hozza> an explanation about that, since you both are as old and fine mates as I've ever had the pleasure of meeting at this website.

I don't care who started or finished- really I don't.

I adore you both, I only ask one thing- no fighting in here.

It's a crying shame that two blokes with so many common interests can't get along. But that's really none of my business.

What is my business is that I'm not getting in the middle of any fight between you two, especially not in my forum.

As you know, I love talking about music and especially footy with <both> of you.

But I'm not picking sides, no matter who may be "right" or "wrong."

On much sunnier news, if you guys post about anything else, I'll welcome you, as usual, as the fine and true friends you have been to me, are to me, and will always be to me, I hope.

May-03-17  User not found: And I'm not interested in anything he says whatsoever now you're present, I only popped in to talk football I had no idea I'd be today's drunken target.. Never mind, delete whatever offends. Let's move on

<Hozza> I want you to keep posting here and I'm sure that your other friends want you to keep posting in their forums.

Can't you just put people you don't like on ignore or something?

I love you man. I love talking with you about footy and music. Why would you stop talking to me just because you dislike someone else who posts here when you can just put that person on ignore?

Please don't stop posting in my forum.

May-04-17  User not found: OMG just OMG. I don't have a Scooby Doo what his problem is and now he's saying "It's unresolveable <ON SITE!>. Maybe I drove over his cat last month as I passed Derby, just another one of those head scratching FTW moments that genuinely have me creasing my forehead with confusion!?!?! I'm going to the pub to rethink my life, I must be doing things I instantly forget and have early Trumpzeihmers or something, lol.

<I'll be back to teach LMesson 3 at a later date, I know you're excited, lol.

Why Messi is in a different league to Ronaldo.....but how to appreciate both.

Homework will consist of a 10 minute revision video on Messi's 10 best goals that left defenders with twisted blood ( Here https://youtu.be/97quWdHa0EQ ) and a 7 min appreciation video where professional footballers themselves attempt to explain what he does.

Interviewer to Wenger..

"Who's the greatest football player in the world?

A: Lionel Messi.

"Who's the greatest football player of all time?".

A "Lionel Messi".
Here (https://youtu.be/e-vrOqHLEMc )

Our mantra is... "Ronaldo asks questions of a manager. Messi answer them for him.

As Messlims we no longer read the KoRon. Our eyes, knowledge, intelligence and inner appreciation of <one> other Alien life form that happens to play football helps us reach a state of nirvana whenever one watches his artistry. LLL #LongLiveLeo.>

LMAO. I know most people round here realise I'm HEAVILY joking around by now but some people genuinely do take me far too serious, they truly believe I play Oasis records backwards dressed only in a Barcelona number 10 shirt as I plan my next jewellery heist!? I used to think it was a culture thing, language barriers, etc etc but now I <know> it's an intelligence thing....Daft as a brush but far from stupid. And those are my final thoughts, lol.

Enjoy your evening, work on your messay, I'll say a Beatley hello to Trav and hit the pub for a few : )

I only seen the film once all the way through so I was more interested in finding out what was the makeup of this seemingly crazy guy risking his life in Grizzly country. After watching parts of it again & that trailer he does appear to be annoying to me. Originally he intrigued me.
