saffuna: Herzog appears fascinated by men who are fanaticaly driven by a single idea: Grizzly Man, Fitzcarraldo, Messner, Aguirre. Even himself, as the subject of "Burden of Dreams," following his single-minded drrive to get "Fitzcarraldo" filmed under terrible conditions.
May-05-17  technical draw: Thanks for all this conversation about Werner Herzog. Fitzcarraldo is one of my favorite movies. (in part because of the opera theme). I now must check out Grizzly Man.

saffuna: <td> You need to find "Burden of Dreams." The story of making "Fitzcarraldo" is wilder than the movie itself.

I remember reading about the filming in the English-language press in Peru. There were weekly reports:

"Natives Ask Herzog Not to Film in Sacred Area"

"Herzog Says He Is An Artist, Will Film Where He Wants"

"Natives Burn Down Herzog's Movie Camp"

May-05-17  technical draw: <saffuna> I believe I have already seen "Burden of Dreams". However i will check it out again.
May-05-17  harrylime: Yo <Jezza>

I apologise .

This is your forum .

This guy <User> overloaded my email with ALL kinds of obscene stuff.. and I still haven't forgiven him for that ! lol .. It's funny in a way and it makes me laff ...

I mean .. The BRADFORD ARGUS keeps rearing it's head in my emails ! lol lol ...

but sometimes ... I get annoyed coz he crossed lines into my personal space and I owe him one back ... this is ongoing .. lol

But this shouldnt be happening on your forum <Jezza>

I know this and it won't be happening again on here ..

Promise !

May-05-17  harrylime: Here's a Canadian band I like !

They say NEVER say sorry on the net ..

I say ..

I'm sorry.

May-05-17  Boomie: <Jessticular Homocide>

Jessie, baby. What's shaking in LA?

I'm working on a new super hero to appeal to the Generation Next Thing demographic.

He roams the Blogosphere, shouting out Commies and 5th columnists with his devastating tweets to make the Interweb safe for democracy.

He's Hash Tag Man! More powerful than a Bot! Refutes tall stories with a single tweet!

Look! In the Inbox! It's a Spam! It's an Ad! It's Hash Tag Man!

May-05-17  technical draw: I have seen Grizzly man. A tale of an egomaniac with a God complex. An individual that does not understand true wildlife, only the wildlife of his imagination. His death was inevitable. Unfortunately he had to take an innocent life with him. Timothy Threadwell is not a hero nor an environmentalist. However he must be applauded for doing what he thought was right.

Holy cow <tbon> that Brian Wilson documentary is top shelf, top shelf.

I had no idea how much the Beatles loved <Pet Sounds>, or how great the critics, old and new, thought Brian Wilson's songwriting was.

I think Brian was also a genius in the way he knew which people he could work with and who would help him get what he wanted for his music.

This is the kind of documentary I like the best- no flash, no gimmicks, no crappy soundtrack, just experts on Brian Wilson and above all, Brian himself.

I rate this documentary 10/10- one of the very best I've seen:

<Hozza>! Well met.

Yes I have every bone in my body crossed that <Spurs> can beat <West Ham n' Eggs> on Monday night I think they play?

I really doubt <Chelsea> is going to slip up, but, <Spurs> are doing everything they need to do, just in case eh?

I'll get back later on your other posts soon.

I'm delighted to see you in my forum, as always.

Holy cow <tbon> that Brian Wilson documentary is top shelf, top shelf.> I'm glad you watched it Jess, I thought it was great too! ; P

May-07-17  technical draw: The Beach Boys "I Get Around" . is probably their best song ever. It definitely is my favorite because of the surprising third chord change which is basically a strange key change that makes the song so special. Brian Wilson is a genius.

<TOORGEN> Yes that story has it all and well told, aboot <Brian Wilson>.

Also I did watch that <Brian Jones> biopic you recommended as well, and I enjoyed it. He drowned in <Winnie the Pooh's> swimming pool.

He was living in Pooh creator <A.A. Milne's> mansion at the time.

Both sad stories eh?

<Hozza> Thanks for the new raft of <Arcade Fire>, which I know is one of your favorite bands. I didn't know they were Canadian though.

This one is my favorite of your new selections: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQv...

They are originals to be sure, and they have a kind of engaging Brit-glam-indie feel.

I had a bad feeling about <Spurs v Hammers> after the first five minutes- alas, it appears we'll have to wait for next year, just like <Charlie Brown>.

<Hozza> Oh yes and thanks for your apology, not necessary but appreciated. We go back a long way and I'd like to go forward a long way as well.

Do you remember when we used to chat in just aboot real time on the old <Youtube> message function before Google decided to gut it?

They deliberately gutted it because they didn't want losers like us to plot against them. I had many a conversation with an indie singer named <Matt> aboot that- he was on the ball; he even went to the <youtube> members meetings in California and tried to mount some resistance, but no go.

Google is not our friend, although he's certainly handy for decinding bar bets and such. That's probably its most useful function.

Have you ever tried the search engine @#$% @#$% go?

It's pretty good and it's still "indie," it doesn't censor results based on copyright whining from major evil corporations.

I use it a lot, it's here if you want to check it out: https://duckduckgo.com/

Here is their "pledge" from their front page:

<Teem> good idea, I'll have my girl call your girl, but she says she's "almost afraid" to get on the plane to <The Cirque>, for fear of what may be waiting there.

Can we get any security guarantees. I don't want my girl coming out of that bathroom with just her dick in her hand.
