Oct-16-17  twinlark: Hi Jess

I assume you've seen the classic 1971 Aussie movie <Wake in Fright>, which quite literally frightened Australia about a less-than-romantic look at the outback. The original had Donald Pleasence, John Meillon, Gary Bond, Dawn Lake, Chips Rafferty and a few others...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64u...

It's just been remade as a miniseries with Alex Demetriades, Sean Keenan, David Wenham, Gary Sweet and others.

If you haven't seen them, check out the first before you see the remake, when it becomes available. Be interested in your opinion of both. In due time natch.

<For <quite literally> I think you mean <not literally>.>

It wasn't overly popular back in the day because there was a cognitive dissidence between what the movie projected and urban Australia's idealistic view of outback Australia.

It did frighten people, even if they pretended to be simply disgusted, or skeptical. No one likes to see their beloved national icons displayed thus, ie: as a horror show.

Oct-22-17  harrylime: Jess you never seem to be on here , so it's tricky getting any momentum with your questions ...

Football now is all about MONEY ...

Derby County are a BIGGER club than at least half of the English Prem ... But it's about MONEY , and what you do with that money ...

Smaller clubs than Derby are thriving in the top tier just now .. they have had investment and have cashed in on the right players at the right time ...

There will be a European SUPER LEAGUE sooner than later .. The owners of Manu and Bayern and Real and Juve want it .. They don't want to be playing Swansea City on a Satdee ....

Gettin back to Darrrrrbeh ... We beat Forest ... so I'm happy lol lol

Oct-22-17  harrylime: Just watched Spurs dismantle Klopps' Scousers ..

Harry Kane has to be the best striker in the world just now ...

Then you have Harry Winks .. another under rated star ...

<Big Movie> I have both of your recent odd movie recs in my folder now but no time to watch them yet.

I made the mistake of telling my school I am leaving after this semester to move back to Canada and they have taken this as license to try to work me to death before I go.

<Doggimus> I have indeed seen the original with a great turn by <Donald Pleasance>, although it was a most unpleasant movie to watch. Which is good since it's a horror movie. It reminded me a bit of <Once Were Kings> in that respect- compelling and really unpleasant, something every one should watch once and then never again.

I did add the new TV version to my folder though, ta for that. I may not get a chance to watch it till back in Canada though.
