Apr-15-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: <jessicafischerqueen:
<Doctor O'Footy> It was Brazil lost 7-1 to the Krauts, if I'm not mistaken?I watched that match.>

You're not mistaken. Biggest humiliation in modern football history. Losing 7-1 in the semi finals of your own WC in Rio!? We'd never capitulate like the Braznilians.

<I too think this may be our year. We have more really young and pacy forwards than anyone and they can put the biscuit in the basket as well.>

Well as usual my heart says yes but my head says no. For the last two tournaments we've been appalling and this squad isn't better than our last WC squad. I'd just play the kids, give them some experience to take into the 2020 Euros. Harry Kane might play like Ronaldo for Spurs but he plays like Ronald McDonald for England.

<I'm not sure aboot <Gareth "Bale" Shakespeare>. Maybe he's a good gaffer although who could ever tell since England never loses any kind of qualifying match. They save their losses for the actual tournaments.>

Former under 21 manager so I say give him two tournaments. 2018 and the Euros. If we don't reach a semi final he should be sacked and I don't care if we get a foreigner as manager as long as he wins something.

<I didn't get where I am today by colorizing great historical footy, though I do think the <Sky Sports> broadcasts are excellent. I also like the lads at <BT Sports> and even the American pundits on <Fox, NBC, SN> are well-chosen. They all have English accents which is mandatory for me.

I say that is HAND BALL.>

And yet those krauts are still complaining about our 3rd goal 52 years later, lol! And I only watch MOTD and Sky Sports, that's all you need. All premier league games although we have to watch the Champions League on ITV.

<I also believe in the PHANTOM PUNCH. One of my students convince me of this. He was obsessed with <Mohammed Ali>, which is a good idea in my opinion. I have every one of <Ali's> fights on a hard drive. As you know, you can find all the championship matches (some only in part) on YOU TUBE.>

I think 5 fights of Ali's are missing. And yeah that punch "Wouldn't have bust a grape" - Rocky Marciano. Liston took the dive, I think he even admitted it to an 18 year old George Foreman. I was speaking to Steve Lott yesterday, he used to be in Mike Tyson's corner for all his early and best fights. He thinks Ali would have beat Mike but says technically that Mike was the best ever from 86-88. I like Steve because he called me a boxing historian, lol. I just learn as I go along, I'm like a stable genius :)

Tabanus: <jess> On Game Collection: IBM Amsterdam 1973, I found all the games in CG and collected them today. The game results match the table I think. I put Petrosian on top because he has better S-B score (than Planinc) and was (according to Jongsma) the official winner. But he's the only one to report that. I guess he's right, but all others just say shared win. TfS has the 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. order as in the xtab I made (hopefully that's the SB order, in case you want to remove the = signs). Take your time. The intro does not need to be long, and there's little to find outside the Dutch newspapers. But there's a tournament book, + Gillam.
Apr-15-18  crawfb5: Thought you'd like to know I'm working on a little project again. As a sort of bookend to all the early US men's championships I did a few years back, I'm starting on US women's championships (Game Collection: US women's championships). Of course there are almost no games available for the early events, so I'm mostly reconstructing crosstables from old magazines and newspapers. Not sure where I will stop. I stopped just prior to Fischer for the men because there was already good coverage from Fischer on here at CG. There's not much for the women except for very recent events, so I may extend my coverage. I do have all six games from the 1941 match, but I'm not sure if I want to submit them. I'm not that young a man, after all.

It's been going fairly well, although the 1955 event is giving me fits. I've tried three times to reconstruct the crosstable. I'm not sure if the problem is me or the newspaper reports. Maybe a little from Column A and a little from Column B.

Apr-20-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: <After 22 years, 10 major trophies, more than 800 Premier League games, Arsene Wenger has announced his time as Gunners boss is coming to an end.

He will always have a place in Arsenal history.

Wow!

Apr-22-18  harrylime: Yo <Jezzarhino> we , me and you, should found our very own football <Nearly there but we are still cool > club ! lol lol

Spurs v Red Mancs .. some observations.

1.Respects to Jose . He got it right. Harry could have been tasting champagne in the corporate suite 2nd half. Jeez lol

2. Spurs keeper should have saved the 2nd Manc goal. Poor keeper and <Pocketchess> got it wrong here.

3. Wanyama is garbage. Total garbage.

4. Watching this game (Spurs v Mancs) I just had the same feeling as when watching Spurs v Juve ... One team KNOWS how to win , one team doesn't.

5. <Pocketchess> was hinting about leaving in his post match interview. I really really hope not. Spurs have soooooooo much to look forward to moving into their shiny new stadium. He's the man .

6. Wembley stadium. Tottenham must be sick of it. Just can't play there.

7. Spurs need a world class keeper .

8. Pogba, tho a total wanka in the Balotelli class, is pretty awesome when he's in the game.

9. Spurs will win a trophy next season playing in their new stadium. Watch this space !

10. Tottenham have Chas and Dave. Never forget this.
