 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh> yes my second computer, which is very new and very powerful, has Windows 7, which is incompatible with programs I use to rip sound and/or video from youtube, incompatible with Audacity sound editor, and other programs I use for my documentaries. I'm hoping that compatibility updates on Windows 7 will catch up to my new computer before my old Vista computer explodes. I just now finished removing a Virus that the "windows security program" apparently installed on my computer. I guess I downloaded an infected mirror or clone of the real one, which is why it froze me up the other day. Anyways it was all terrifying- I have a powerful AntiVirus Killer which gives me the option of FORCE REMOVAL- an option that carries the warning "This might destroy your registry- are you sure you want to continue" But I continued anyways what choice?
At any rate the Virus got killed and my computer seems to be working fine. A lot of people still think XP was the best operating system. |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: <jessicafischerqueen> Any programs that don't work after you tried to install Anti-Virus 2012/2011(The Virus Programs) then had to uninstall the Virus? |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: Oh don't look like they were the Anti-Virus 2012/2011's sorry, but any programs that worked before the install then uninstall, that don't work now? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh> Jinx!
I've been testing since I posted, and every program seems to be working perfectly. I use the trusty AVG superpowered premium model.
It detects things that AVAST misses, though I use them both. I like AVAST because it has a real time protection bell that rings like a fire alarm if you click on a "bad web page." It's gone off three times since I got it and it scared the crap out of me. Better safe than sorry though.
I've done some research in the past, and also some personal experimentation and the actual MICROSOFT security programs are absolute garbage= Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, and that Windows Anti Virus that caused all my problem although I think I probably downloaded a fake copy of it. I used to use a powerful Firewall I downloaded from the Net, but on Vista there were so many compatibility problems that I had to get rid of it and revert to the Windows Firewall. What kind of protection do you use on your computer? |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: <jessicafischerqueen> Nice to hear :)
AVG paid here ~ Not sure on firewall but the Windows Version are not the best but it should do well ~ There so many Fake Windows Antivirus out there ~ Would have to ask for specific running programs in task manager to find out what one was installed~ |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Good advice.
I also have the paid AVG- the SUPERPOWERED PREMIUM MODEL. Isn't it great?
It saved me today from that horrifying virus. |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: Ok reading some notes on Windows Firewall Forums ~
If you open a web page that auto spams you with a box that has a Accept/Decline, Yes/No or Open/Close button Right click the x at top right to close it or open task manager to close the box/page so you don't accept an install of "Something" |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: FYI - if you want to look me up on ICC, just type: "finger lifemasteraj" (but without the quotation marks). Since joining ICC around FEB, I have played over 5,000 games. The bulk has been one minute and three minute. (no delays) Bullet / 1-minute: 4906 total. I have won 2,423 ... lost 2328, and drew 155. Blitz / 3-minute: Total played is 637. Won 308, lost 298, drew 31. I have also picked up many GM, IM and FM scalps along the way. FM kidman (1853) - lifemasteraj (1833) [A37]

Aug-04-11 | | Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, you're the expert on finding movies and television programs on the net. I'm interested in viewing an episopde run last year on The History Channel, called The Real Face Of Jesus?
They have used science and 3D computer generated imaging to analyze the shroud of Turin, supposedly the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The scientists have already debunked a false claim that the shroud is 675 years old and seems to fit the time period of Jesus's Crucifixion & death. I googled it and found a listing of shown History Channel past run shows and I found it. But when I clicked on the episode you have to buy it for $24.99. I have a cable bill & I don't need to pay for the program twice. Can you think of a way I could search for the entire program on the net. I seen short clips on youtube. Thanks Travis |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: It's <Thanh Phan> who is the expert! |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: Custom Search Engines in Google Chrome ~
http://www.chromeplugins.org/tips-t... ~ One of the sites I use. That History Channel video is interesting, thanks! |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Travis Bickle: Thanks Jess for all your detailed information, although Thanh Phan found it very quickly I still appreciate your nice effort! ; P P.S. I watched it and found it very interesting!! |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jessica, let me know what you think of the program. |
|
Aug-04-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <TBONESTEAKS> I will certainly let you know after I watch it. Thanks to <Thanh> I can just stream it from her link. I don't know if the documentary mentions this but did you know there was a bunch of forensic experts and scientists and such who tried to make a "model" of <Jesus> based on the <Shroud of Turin>? That's all I know about it, I saw an ABC news blurb about that when I was looking for your movie. |

No central focus. Very fragmentated. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <fab> why not get a premium membership and open a forum? Then you can have a "home base." |
|
Aug-04-11 | | fab4: I'm in the process of buying my own place.. just now where I am my internet feed is too intermittant. So I've decided to wait until I'm settled in. .. | | jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh> well that Russian pop video might be hard to categorize because it's imitating so many Western Pop Music cliches it might not know what it wants to be- apart from an imitation. The sound is kind of "American indie or garage," but without any of the edge or energy. The staging of the video is meant explicitly to recall <Nirvana's> video of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," including the shot of the basketball hoop. The lead singer is dressed as an emo-glam-androgynous character, originally invented by David Bowie. His singing style and inflection is identical to that of a Korean boy band singer, with all the overproduced fake emotion and posing that comes with.
Prototype of this style would ultimately derive from people like Justin Timberlake (early career) and so on. There is not one single "Russian" thing about this video except for the language. So I didn't care for it- if you liked the video please don't take my comments as a criticism of your own musical taste! I'm only posting my own personal take on this video.
Also, please don't stop dropping music video selections in my forum- I like not knowing what I'm going to hear and I need to learn about new music of every type. I have downloaded and saved almost every bit of music you've given me over the last few days. Thanks so much for that! |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: <jessicafischerqueen> Thanks :) To now it the fastest thing that sisters kids fall asleep to. lol Went shopping to get spaghetti things to cook |
|
Aug-04-11 | | Thanh Phan: Oh some one made a puppet account and gave <hms123> page a link to a "Not so helpful" site ~ And the site name had a few setbacks yet keeps returning, most times owned by a Proxy type Registrant or owner |
