Many thanks for your efforts, I only changed <53. ...fxg3 54. Rxg3> (which would lead to checkmate for White) to <53. ...Re5 54. Rxf4+ 1/2-1/2.>

BTW, the game was played in Memphis, and The Commercial Appeal was also published in Memphis, not Nashville.

Black is definitely winning after 53..fxg3 54. Rxg3 Rf8! (and Black mates in 19 moves). I think Maroczy saw he was losing and offered a draw hoping Jefferson didn't see it.

Memphis > Nashville (ack! I was late for my daily nap!).

Sending you the graphical re-construction along with my notes.

jnpope: Forgot to send my notes:

1) Moves 16 and 17 for both are re-sequenced as they appear to be printed out of order.
2) White's 26th and 27th moves inserted where they belong with White's subsequent moves dropping down two spots (which makes everything play through).
3) 40...R-Kt3! isn't given as a check, so 40...Rb6 appears to have been played.
4) 49...Rc6 used (silicon beast thinks it is stronger than 49...Rf6).
