I sometimes post links to those video annotations on the relevant games here. Please use the "Subscribe" button on my channel page to keep notified of new ones.

Played in the main British Chess Championship twice now, scoring 4.5 and 5 respectively (out of 11 - it is tough!).

I have created various video annotation grouping pages, which may be of interest for you to check out:

I'm not named Kingscrusher for nothing. I learned chess at the age of 5 and have been addicted every since. It was through watching my father playing against my brother that I picked up the game.

My other hobbies watching the latest films, Computing, going out, seeing friends, watching TV.

The answer to life, the universe and everything was forty-two according the the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. But maybe for chess players it should be 64!!

When i was nearly 18, I managed to win the UK LLoyds bank Under 18 championship! In later years I attained a FIDE rating through the Lloyds bank Masters tournaments and through other tournaments such as Surrey and all play alls organised through Adam Raoof. Currently FIDE rated 2177. My BCF grading has been fluctuating over the years and is currently about 185 BCF, and I am play for Board 1 for both Barnet chess club and Muswell Hill chess club. My full chess cv can be found here:-

(sorry for the use of Wayback machine!)

In 2008, I finally qualified for the British Chess Championship by coming 2nd= at the Southend Open tournament with an ECF 206 performance.

University- I studied computing in business and obtained a 2:1 honours degree

My life advice is: have fun and enjoy life to the maximum! - I hope that chessworld.net helps in this goal! :-))))

kingscrusher: I think Botvinnik kind of has a more advanced Silman Opening "imbalance theory". He likes openings with imbalances but in this form: Imbalance theory modification: He can have what seems to be unfavourable stuff, but as long as they are not exploitable. So having quite often ...

kingscrusher: Great exploitation of the light square bishop without a counterpart. Not helped also by the wrong knight recapture. 16...Nfxd5 should have been played because in some variations black then has f6 to kick the e5 knight.

   Oct-12-25 Botvinnik vs T Tylor, 1936

kingscrusher: Nice exploitation of passed pawn and opposite colored bishops don't help black.

kingscrusher: 12.Nxh7 is a big advantage to White: Georgy Lisitsin - Mikhail Botvinnik 0-1 1.0, Leningrad Masters 1933 [DIAGRAM] Analysis by Stockfish 17.1: 1. +- (2.17): 12...Qf7 13.Nxf8 Kxf8 14.Bh6+ Ke8 15.Qg4 Na6 16.Rf1 d6 17.Qh4 Qg8+ 18.Kf2 Be6 19.Kg1 Kd7 20.Qxf6 Qh7 21.Bg5 Bc4 22.Rf2

kingscrusher: I think I am starting to get it. Botvinnik has a good role model for planning as in "mini-plans" because he makes the positions stable first - and often that involves a bind. Here is this game, first a bind on the d pawn. Then the e-pawn. Then mini-plan after mini-plan until ...

jessicafischerqueen: <Tryfon>: Thanks so much for listing me on the video search header at <letsplaychess.com>. I really appreciate it.

Also, I followed all of your games at the London FIDE Open section this year- which I was able to do because you made all those video annotations of the rounds!

I found your presentation of chess psychology- yours and that of your opponents- to be fascinating. Competitive human OTB chess in "real life" is so complex and wonderful- and horrible- it's the true glory of chess, and that comes through in your video account of the tournament.

Also great score on the two interviews you posted?!?!!

If you're not already planning it, why not make a video playlist of your complete games at the London Classic this year?

Merry Christmas to you, and warmest regards to you.

I was sorry to hear about <Fluffy> too.

I still think about my <Ethel> and it's been five years since she died.

Yours,
Jess

jessicafischerqueen: Happy New Year <Tryfon>?! ?!

heh

That was a sad video of <Nigel> losing to <Magnus>- very interesting how his position totally fell apart there- I was looking how far back he had to go to avoid that.

I think his move order was inaccurate there- as you point out, once <Magnus> even threatens to get his LSB on the a8-h1 diagonal, Black's queenside is in a strait-jacket.

Hats of to Nigel to sac the pawn for counterplay though.

He has always been a fabulous attacking player, looking for a win with both colors.

He doesn't like to draw, and he doesn't like to defend boa constrictor positions where "best play" might result in an inevitable 190 move loss.

He'd rather mix it up get free and see if he can make something unexpected happen.

jessicafischerqueen: <Tryfon> Thank you for pointing that out! And yes I did check the bottom of the page so they ran the first two on previous days I guess.

Also, I can't thank you enough for telling me about the Chess Cafe "video" feature, and for advising me to contact them.

That was great advice!

Your last analytic video on "The Sicilian Gone very, very wrong" was excruciating eh?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCqz...

The poor guy leading in the tournament and then running into that monstrous attack.

Maybe he should have played <Caro Kan> or even a <Rat Defence>.

As the video went on it reminded me of a line from <The Color of Money>:

"It's like a nightmare, isn't it? and it just keeps getting worse and worse."

Jan-23-11  madlydeeply: Hello Tryfon i've seen bunches of your videos thanks for those. I especially like the reviews of the big boys... what i like most about chess are the different styles chessplayers have... and i have a hard time defining carlsen's style! Naka's easy... mr derringdo... I also like that you show some of your losses... y'know a chessplayer really needs to know how to deal with losing...losing can be such a mind blower sometimes. Anyhow I was wondering what you think of Reuben Fine.... I think he was a cross between Tarrasch and Lasker...he had a very coherent opening philosophy that he fully understood.... and could sense early on when things were going badly and switch to Lasker's hyperactive defense...

Arright thanks for everything.. on yootoob

kingscrusher: Quick news item: I have a new "Kingscrusher Cafe" at Chesscube for those that like blitz chess. You can pop in there and challenge maybe fellow youtubers etc of my youtube channel. I have done a video about it here:

jessicafischerqueen: <Fine> is one of the most underrated players in chess history, in terms of how "popular" he is today.

He shared first at AVRO 1938, <Keres> taking the trophy only on tie-breaks.

<Tryfon> have you thought of offering game play at all time controls, such as at FICS?

Would that cost a lot of money to set up?

Jan-24-11  madlydeeply: Y'know if you can look at chess history through the vector of significant losses... the losses that can end confidence and careers...set up inpenetrable barriers in the minds of the greats. Like Kasparov's match loss to Kramnik was the end of his confidence. Moro and Shirov can run the table against any sub-top five competition but can never beat Kramnik Anand Carlsen....

So this is an exciting time! Because every single Naka/Carlsen game is very important....one is eventually going to psych out the other! Who will it be? Only time will tell...this is SERIOUS COMPETITION...

If you enjoy doing playlists, please can you do more if you get time - and I can do a Playlist youtube video emphasing your playlists.

It saves me doing those grouping pages for different things - e.g. Karpov, Nakamura, etc. I was wanting to do a page for all the Nakamura games I have done for example - he is becoming very strong.
