Nov-09-07  sentriclecub: Hi Kutz, could you give Zanshin's a new forum assignment? After reviewing RV's 25ply analysis of Rc1 Re8 to be a draw (0.05), Zanshin's forum is now obsolete and should cover a new position.

Could you spend some time figuring out a new position for Zanshin to cover (which has at least 3 good replies none forced).

Good to hear from you. I appreciate the offer. The way we are doing it this game is that we have a standing group of 11 temporary forum hosts (six regular, four backup, and one to handle all the other moves not covered by any other forum). These hosts have agreed to be assigned a forum by me at every turn. So we are well covered in that area.

Yesterday <MarkThornton> was asking if someone would host an endgames forum like he did in the last game. He cannot do it this time. Would you be interested in that? If that does not appeal to you, I encourage you to find the forum associated with a line that interests you and join in the analysis there. I remember the great job you did last game and trust that one way or another, you will find a way to be a strong contributor again.

I am very reluctant to change <Zanshin>'s forum assignment in the middle of a cycle. I did that once earlier in the game when one of the moves was running away with the vote, and there were objections.

Even though Be5 is highly likely to be our move, there are probably a few people who will wonder about Rbc1 as a possible alternative. I want to keep the forum as is until Monday. At that point, <Zanshin> will be given a new forum assignment. I assure you I will attempt to assign him something that will work well with your demo.

Nov-09-07  sentriclecub: Could you tell me ahead of time what Zanshin's new forum assignment will be as I'm likely the only one who plans to analyze it anyway before monday. Just write it on my forum and I'll delete it. This also gives me time to work on the layout for Zanshin so monday it'll be instantly ready.
Nov-09-07  zanshin: <kutz> <sentriclecub> For this assignment, I will temporarily move out of data-tree demo mode and try to analyze the line as best as I can despite the high probability that it will not be played.
Nov-09-07  zanshin: <kutztown46: <Artar1> assured me that Fritz 10 would run significantly faster than Fritz 9 on a dual core computer.> Did you get Deep Fritz 10? If so, I'm not sure there's an upgrade to it yet.
Nov-10-07  sentriclecub: That sounds fine, I'll start my engines Monday.

I do not believe I have Deep Fritz 10. It was rather confusing when I ordered it from Amazon. It was not clear to me whether there were two separate products or not. I think I have the "standard" Fritz 10.

Nov-10-07  Dionyseus: <kutztown46> Yes you most likely have the single processor version. What you can do to make sure is to hit alt+ctrl+delete, open task manager, go to Performance tab, and on the CPU Usage History you should see graphs for each of your CPUs. Because you have a dual core, you should have two of these CPU graphs. Have Fritz 10 analyse something and look at the graphs, if the line goes all the way to the top on both graphs, you have the Deep Fritz 10 version, but if not you have the single processor version.
Nov-10-07  zanshin: <Dionyseus> <kutztown46> I have a better way to tell Fritz from Deep Fritz. If you paid about $50, you have Fritz. If you paid twice as much, then you have Deep Fritz! ;-)

By both tests, I have the "regular" Fritz 10. The nice thing is, performance is much better on my computer with Fritz 10 than it was with Fritz 9.

My plan for <Zanshin>'s next forum after 17. Be5 will be 17...Nf6. This should be suitable for a data tree demo. Fritz 10 at 21-ply is showing five candidate white 18th moves within 0.25 of each other.

Nov-11-07  sentriclecub: Thanks for that well-suited forum assignment. I'm seeing that 6 candidate replies are within (.10) of each other

Nov-18-07  zanshin: <kutz> While the link you posted on the GMT page worked for you, it did not for me because it was linking to the wrong page number. The problem with using page numbers in the links was brought to my attention when I took over the sticky maintenance job and could not get the links to consistently point to the marker posts.

Here's <MAJ>'s explanation. I can go into more details if needed.

Nov-19-07  Waitaka: <kutztown46>, I will be on vacation from November 23 to December 16, so I will not be able to update forum headers during that period. Of course, my forum still can be used during this time. But if you prefer, you can assign other user to host the forum on this period.

Nov-22-07  Waitaka: <kutztown46> I updated my profile to the new forum. See you on December 17th.
Nov-23-07  sentriclecub: Hey Kutztown

what are the chances that we can get another forum host to be an active forum-header updater? like Zanshin

I am getting more smoothe/effecient at relaying data from my computers, into a centralized document, and to Zanshin on a daily-updating basis.

You can tell that Zanshin's forum header adds value to our team.

I can take on the duty of being an active-updater and data-contributor to about one more forum person.

Zanshin is very professional and a good teammate, and he updates his forum header always on a very rapid basis.

You have worked with the forum hosts and you know their individual levels of commitment and reliability.

If you can line up someone to work with me, and have them email me, we can make our team better.

Zanshin's forum is the second most active temporary forum, and I attribute this a lot to the fact that people come to his forum and I will relay their contribution into the forum header, and credit the person who supplies it.

Lets decide in the next week or two, if someone would be willing to commit to this on an ongoing basis.

The layout of Zanshin's forum is hierarchal and organized and it doesn't get swamped behind pages of kibitzes, its always at the same place at the top of the page.

I leave you in charge and I leave with you the final decision, but Zanshin's forum is much cleaner and effecient than any of the temporary-move-forums.

Pleasure working with you as part of the world team,

Sentriclecub
Jim K
